Heres Why The Honda Del Sol is MORE Than Just a Poor Mans S2000

- The time has come once again to put the spotlight on yet another underrated and underappreciated car!
the honda del sol is a beginner drivers dream, it has amazing gas mileage along with a highly modable vtec engine that is just begging to be boosted, pair that with a 5 speed manual and a 8k rpm redline and you have yourself a mini honda s2000 - Auta a dopravní prostředky
No friends= no need for 4 seats
Tik Tok Ads This is the car for me lol
Shit I cant even get my 2nd seat filled
I can barely get my second seat filled and im gutted in my eh2 sohaha aint no fat overweight ppl gonna ride in my hatch
Yeah fuck 4 seats in a Honda. 2 seats is all you need and no fat chicks.
My friends always ask me for ride. Until one day i said no. They look surprised and sad. Then they saw my 2 seater. I felt good. Hate giving rides im not taxi
as a fellow del sol owner, these cars always give you looks and i had multiple people try to buy it off me. haha there fun cars and i have travel all across the east coast with it no problem.
I would agree also being a owner on the east coast! I've only seen three In middle Tennessee but it's very exciting seeing one!
But… isn’t the leakages that it has bad? The leaks are the main reason why im afraid of even buying the car (besides the fact that i can’t find these cars that are being sold anywhere from previous owners and i aint got the money to just buy a brand new del sol if they are even still getting sold.)
I have a 95, built up the d16. Custom interior, chrome wheels wrapped in toyos. It breaks necks downtown! Plan on h2b swapping it😳
i have a b16 del sol had it for few months now and love it also for me i have the manual roof and it doesnt leak at all suprisingly
Truly an underrated classic. Such a damn shame nobody bought them when they were produced.
They were expensive brand new in the day ,,,

When literally nobody has ever called a del sol a poor mans s2000
??? Ive heard the term thrown around a bit.
I've actually heard this a few times
Wasn't that the miata?
Right 😂😂
No one ever. For that to happen it would need to be a f car with rwd
2:10 made me laugh out loud
When I rarely have to stop at a gas station with my 102 hp. BEAST, someone nearly always tells me they like my car. 97 red one and still going😎🏁
I just picked up a completely stock 1993 black Si with 67k original one (female) owner miles on 11/2019. Bought it off ebay, flew to Ohio and drove it back to NC. It was a 562 mile test drive and it cost me about $30 in gas. The thing is like a time capsule!
I had a 94 (got stolen RIGHT after I had it painted😞) but that thing consistently got 40 mpg on the freeway.
The Si has VTEC too with the SOHC. It's weird how they're named. The VTEC isn't the only trim in the lineup with VTEC.
Also, the del Sol is the 3rd generation CRX, which is why it's a 2-seater.
@Mike P the del sol labeled as VTEC trim actually has the b16a motor. The other trims below the VTEC trim all had single jingles
The crx was better than the del sol and always will be
@Mike There were no 99-00 del Sols. They stopped production in '97. In the US, the B16 was only available on the VTEC trim, which was misleading because the VTEC trim wasn't the only trim with VTEC.
@@whitelightningmotorsport4220 The del Sol is a CRX. It's the 3rd generation CRX.
Mine is an ESI 94 with the SOHC and VTEC with 125HP. I love the car and drive it almost every day for 6 years now. 150K miles on it. No problem.
Man this car definitely was under appreciated....my uncle had one of these we used to call it pocket rocket...this car was a beast in corners
always leave the tailgaters in the dust on the turns
Indeed it loves corners, and with rain it also loves to drift XD

I am a former Honda owner. I've owned everything from the Fit, Civic Si, CR-V, Odyssey and even the S2000. Currently, I own an older '01 Subaru Forester which I really like because of how practical it is. But Honda is and always will be in my heart. Honda simply builds the most reliable engines/cars ever and the best looking ones too.
Is your Forester turbo or NA? I was debating on jumping into Subaru from a Honda but I'm scared of the reliability of their engines.
I had one of these as my winter beter.. was a lowered fart can and 17” rims.. cornered like it was on rails.. while blowing smoke all the way.. total blast!!

@@imreeflexx1878 almost 2500 lbs.
@@93mlo Mine is registered with 2314 lbs (1050kg) and the manual says 2205 lbs (1000kg). It's barely any heavier than an NA miata and makes more horses. I don't know how people think it's heavy but comparing it to the mk1 and 2 CRX one should also take into account that it's a lot less flimsy than the original CRXs

Do a Honda Prelude 1993-1996 definitely underrated car!!
especially the v6 models
V6 models.?
@@KDMFrost No Such thing as a V6 Model they were never made with a V6 engine only 4 Banger H22A1 and H23

These were great 15 years ago. Nearly all of them are clapped out now. I had a 1994 VTEC and it was still the most fun car I've ever owned... And I've had a -foxbody Mustang, 1979 Monte Carlo, 1991 3000gt VR4, 1998 Bmw e36, 1994 Acura Integra, etc....The redline of the Del Sol was actually 8200 rpm.
yehp. i love mine still after 25 years with it! i think by 97 the engine got even better moving to dohc

Proud owner of a 95 Del Sol Vtec usdm! Love it to death.

Try to review a Saab 9-3 or 9-5 soon. Instantly fell in love
Looking at an all original del sol 1997 automatic. I cannot drive manual lol. 93k miles clean, for $5350. Good price???
just about to pick one up tomorrow . to work a
on for a family member I picked it up on initial purchase. it's going to be interesting and fun. I normally hoon around in a sv6 and a xr6
Miss my del sol ! 0:58 you can fit 5 people in the front . Driver , passenger , passengers lap , middle and 1 laying behind the seats .
Never had to put more than 1 in the truck but it's a big truck . could easily get 2 , 4 if you really had to .
Ive been trying to find out what that front lip is on the car in the thumbnail. Does anyone know
I've always wanted one of these since my Gran Turismo days.
Some months ago there was one in a parked tow truck in my street. Here those cars are uncommon (not to say they are impossible to see) so, naturally, i was quite excited despite its rusty appearance.
Scoop it up be the best decision ever
i park my amazing standard shift 350slk at the grocery. no one notices. a guy at my mechanics had a fit when he saw it and the mechanic told him "her other car is a del sol vtec" and he died. at the grocery I always get cart handlers stopping and going ... is that.... is that .... yes . its the vtec. they are in awe havung never seen one.
How much would a new motor coast Im looking into a 1993
What I like about them is there different, and gettin rare, and they have there own look. I can respect them. There’s always better or worse cars but I respect most of them
vtecs are unobtainium with < 100k miles and in good shape
I can go all day about Del Sol's too! Hell yeah!
I was upset about the dsm review but this one is on point 👍
JDMB16A
The only downside I see to the Del Sol is that it’s front wheel drive, it’d be amazing as rear wheel drive, a potential competitor for the classic Mazda Miata
Make a mid engine rear drive model, it’d be an affordable supersleeper
@KONRAD how did it go
Yo I love you’re videos
Just got my first Honda, and it’s a ‘94 Del Sol. Starts up fine, runs like shit(for now) needs some serious work due to hellions and neglect. Not too familiar with Honda particularly, but looked like it has potential. And at a $500 price point, aint got much to lose out on. Gives me something to tinker with. Looks like it has the D16Y6 motor. Still learning this car, only got it today. Hell, I had to look up if/how to roll the rear window down. 😂 didn’t know that was a thing till I was researching. The window does roll all the way down and away from view. I think imma have a blast with this project.
How did it go?
125hp also has vtec but is a single cam instead of dual cam. Engine are pretty different, owned both and both have pro and cons.
Damn man I miss these things had 2 of them one with a ls from the integra it was fun and cool but my old si with the b16 in man was like driving a raging bull loved it till I smashed it
"Pikachu" lmao bruh you had me dying
I’m 43 and I have a black one it’s perfect for me and my handbag I also have the crx
Two rare Honda’s very hot for a girl
I’m remember going crazy for this car in 1997 💕 well I have good memories in one of those in 🇯🇵 😉 what time to be alive !
Great review. LOVE THE BURPING
Awesome description
Hi
Me and my boy drove all the way from NYC to Mansfield, OH.
It was berzek
All the best Shaun of NYC
That trunk is insane, I thought the motor was in the back.
Wheres best place to find aftermarket parts such as halo headlights LED tail lamps, ect..
I had put two friends in the trunk. It was weird to drive with all that wait. Had five included me..🤭
I always liked them but they needed a lot of mods to be up to par performance wise for what I expect my cars to be..so either h22 swap or a b16 turbo build
A 1.6 na makes as much hp as my mini did stock with a supercharger. Honda has always been leading edge
H2B and i swear you'll nvr go back.. H22 with b16 head and trans, they get it in a quarter but if you like the long gears the H22 has to offer then put the GSR trans an head or LS head and boost it a bit
You can't put a b series head on an h series block. H2b refers to attaching an h series engine to a b series transmission.
I had a Honda del sol v tech and it was the best car I have ever owned. That car flew. An absolute delight.
Honda Delsol is proving to be ahead of the times by the number of models moving to the Targa platform including the Miata RF.
Compared to a convertible the Targa top gives better: acoustics
Damn I’m trying to get one, you gonna make it hot
Those sunroofs Makes me a bit jealous with an 02 accord coupe.
What year is that del sol
I haven't seen a Del Sol in years. They are one of my favorite Honda's.
Trippy i felt like it was the best introduction for my car...n yes everuthing u said did and does happen ...96 dohc vtec 🤙🤙🙏🍻
Bseries allday...
Would it be a good idea to put my friends in the trunk?
Yes
Makes getting rear ended even more fun! It's a crumple zone, designed to crush and absorb energy from a collision. Meaning your friends would become one with the car!
On The next sun rise* good word play! I got a 1993 si, I'm bout to bring it back from the grave! Thanks to this video!
You want to sell it, if it has the b16a3 in it im def interested?
No its the d16z6 trying put the b16 swap in and boost
There’s a del sol by me. It’s 5k with 123k miles. Very clean car shell in red. I don’t know how to drive a stick and want to learn. Will this be a good beginner car? Please need some help cause I want to buy
Yep, still a good car, my niece was 15 years old, and I teach her to drive with my DelSol
Did we ever have the B16 in North America?
They do look sweet with the 99-00 civic kit.
Mine is an ESI 94 with the SOHC and VTEC with 125HP. I love the car and drive it almost every day for 6 years now. 150K miles on it. No problem.
My first car and still driving it after 21 Years, never had problems, D16Z6 one of the best engines. A older guy than me bought it when new on market, he told me he sold his DelSol after a Million Km to buy the S2000

The vtec del sol is the closest thing we got to a jdm car (the b16 egs and crxs).
"The power for pennies"...

Had a 93 delsol with the 1.5 5speed, wasnt fast but flybys would intimidate most. lol. Top speed was 95-100 but it cornered like it was on rails. 30mpg. Reamed the dogshit out of it, never any serious issues. Open the hood every 2 weeks and add oil.
I’m a civic person but agree with you 💯
A Del sol is a civic lol
Your thumbnail was why i traded my ek hatch with a del sol🔥🔥

@@jacobcotriss6264 noice, i have an eh hatch now lol. Do you still have the del sol?
I was very excited and the it was front wheel drive.
I was looking at one awhile back. But for the life of me I could not find a good Si or VTEC model for sale.
And I've learned that if you're gonna be an enthusiast over a car, it is best to start with the highest performance trim if possible.
Buy a cheap del sol then do an h2b swap.
EpicRaptorMan mine is a Si with a JDM SiR swap(bought it that way) but there was ones with GSR swaps etc when I was looking for one.

This is why I got an S13 240sx back in the day. Our base power was 155hp and 160tq. If you wanted a convertible you could get a Varietta. Hondas were so slow to us back then. The K-series engines are a different story though.
240 was 80s vtecs are 94-97 and easy to get < 6 secs 0-60
0:20 I'm proud being from Romania now
You forgot to bring up the fact that the back window could blow out for some strange reason on these cars.

Yup, they only came stock with D15, D16, or B16's.
Apparently you can CRV-convert the Del Sol and make it AWD for fairly cheap.
