  • Got a call on a Sunday evening to get a 4runner off of Fins And Things Trail. Went in and pulled it out to the main road, then carried it down to the parking lot so an on-road tow truck could come and get it. Then an evening recovery of a car stuck up on Polar Mesa above Onion Creek. Had to use the tire chains and a winch to get it done. Hopefully soon the lockers will be here for Ol Blue. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

The commentary on the way to the Subaru was hilarious AND spot on. The lack of common sense of people putting themselves AND THEN others in potential harms' way (in order to be rescued) is amazing to be polite. It is one thing to be fairly prepared for an eventuality while four-wheeling and shit happen, but to just say "screw it, let's do this" is just nuts. I give you guys major kudos for running a recovery business in this terrain and in all weather/visibility conditions.

Part of the purchase of a Subaru includes a brainwashing 101 class at a mall parking lot. In the class you'll be given a flat brimmed hat, 80's style neon sunglasses, ear stretching gauge set, 8" subwoofers and EDM music, a carabiner for pulling you backwards because you will not be able to continue forwards, a chip for your shoulder, shorts with leg warmers built in, a false sense of superiority and a lesson on how to rev the engine 43 times as you let out the clutch.

That’s awesome of you to offer him that, I hope he sees it! I love about 90 minutes north of Moab & had a similar feeling about an out of state youtuber couple that does a lot of good , as a divorced dad I told them if they ever wanted to snowboard Utah resorts or head to Moab, on a week I don’t have my daughters they could stay for free at my place in my daughters rooms & I could take them up to the resorts or down to Moab if they chose & get them to and from the airport. Hotels and car rentals are a lot of the cost of vacation so I just put it out there & the female responded saying they’d actually love to take me up on it this winter or go to Moab in the spring, said they were really excited as they’ve never been to Utah so I’m looking forward to helping them have a break and experince. Whether Park City resort or the different world of Moab I’m sure they’ll enjoy themselves. A nice way to return the favor to great yourbers who help others, that’s awesome of you to offer Rory that. Works 7 days a week on call 24/7,.and doing so many recoveries for free he deserves it! 👍👍

    Great job as usual 👏
You'd be surprised to hear some people's rationale when it comes to their cars vs trails. I was MTBing up a truck trail and a Subaru pulls by me asking if it gets any more difficult. I said yeah because her vehicle wouldn't be able to get to the very top of the mountain; her vehicle had stock suspension, city tires, and not enough clearance. She then says "I think I'll be OK, I have a Subaru, it's AWD". About an hour later almost to the top, saw the Subaru high centered on a big rock, oil leaking, and 2 trucks trying to carefully pull the Subaru out. What a day...

I was riding my XT600 on the Black Bear Road in Colorado one time, and I was going over 2 foot rock ledges. I saw a guy in a stock older Jeep Wagoner. I stopped and he asked me if his rig would make it. I told him that for sure he was going to drag bottom on all of the ledges. I asked him how tough his undercarriage was? He then said that "I think I had better turn around." I told him that it would be a wise move.

Heck when I got stuck in the snow, scouting for fishing locations, decades ago in my Dodge 4x4 the wife told me she'd get someone to come looking for me after 3 days. It took me 20 hours of digging to dig under the pickup and dig a trench out. Now I have a TJ with a 10,000 lb wench that I use all to often. I'm always looking for uneducated fish and deer.

I was born and raised in Ohio. I did a lot of backpacking in the late 80's up until about 10 years ago. The stupid things I saw people do just boggles my mind. We were day hiking in Glacier and were coming down from Ptarmigan Tunnel. We went up for lunch and it started snowing and was close to mid-day. We packed up our gear and headed down. We were almost back to the parking lot, it's late afternoon and some kid is going up with his shorts, tennis shoes, little gym bag and a bottle of water. I asked "where are you going"? He was heading up to the tunnel. I said that it's snowing up there. He says naw, and takes off heading up to it. Just crazy.

I agree with you Rory. These days everybody can get a weather report sitting on the toilet. Hauling campers, passenger vehicles far out in the sticks with the expectation of rescue by cell phone is a dumb way to go through life. Ive traveled in that area since the 80s. We walked to check out conditions when it was iffy. Carried shovels , overnight gear and always planned on self rescue. Yup, old guy.

Rory, you made an excellent point about not wanting to see anybody hurt, then you could have been seriously injured had the ice put you down over the hill! Eddie

It's nice when you're pulling someone who knows how to be pulled down the street, but it looks detrimental that they know how to be pulled while out in areas like the off roads of Moab with it's obstacle course.

Watching your channel and Matt's channel, I often wonder what are some of these people thinking taking some of their vehicles into areas they have no business being in.
