From a product design and development standpoint, these are valid points. The design must match the function of the product or make it easier/convenient/pleasurable to use when dispensing the product. Anybody who thinks that complaining about functional packaging is "petty" has no business in the beauty industry. Go show yourselves out the door. 👏
Um many of us have no intention of being part of the "Beauty Industry" just want to look at makeup on CZcams. Please can I stay
Yess, it's absolutely not petty. I'll give wet'n'wild and earlier makeup revolution as an example. Their packaging being so finicky and lids on palettes and powder products falling off after a few months is not something that you can easily oversee. It's a terrible user-experience and for what? A couple dollars less on a product that you use for a couple of years? It's insane.
And let’s think about people who have weak grip that want to try that fenty cleanser. How are they supposed to get it out? If someone like Glow struggles, they would need a vise!
So true. At the end of the day people spend money on these products. Yes, we can all buy something different but these corporations make so much money and they need to do better. We should be able to complain and vote with our pockets.
Every day I somehow forget it's Glowmas, and every day I'm pleasantly surprised when I see Hannah posted and I remember it's Glowmas.
I love the packaging of the winky lux blush in theory. As an object it's beautiful and I love that it's a little rose blush snow globe, but as a functional piece of makeup I know that having a bush orb that didn't fit well into my stack would drive me crazy.
My husband bought me one and it sits on my shelf with my Breyer Unicorn and a Tiara that is sentimental because it's too pretty to use!!
Agreed! But I bought one! It’s an AMAZING cream blush! Luckily, it’s so pretty that I don’t mind having to leave it sitting on my makeup counter but don’t like it closed because it’s not as cute but I don’t want it drying out so I gotta keep it closed. It would have been better in like a square box in my opinion

I just wanna say that lipsticks, mascaras, etc. having such a large tube for the applicator is more accessible for people with hand issues. A friend of mine has arthritis and cannot use any of her favorite pencil-type products without wrapping the tube larger so that she can grip it without pain.
That being said, the ND one looks pretty scammy. Brands should just be honest about how much product they’re actually giving you.
Would those little cushions for pencils help your friend? They're like a foam tube that goes around a pencil to give it a comfortable grip (if you're not familiar with them). Just a silly thought ❤

Not me inspecting my Fenty brightener while watching. 100% agree on that packaging I always squeeze out too much! Also wanted to add products that are dual ended like where one side is a brush/other side is product. Ex makeup by Mario cream blushes. I ALWAYS pull of the wrong cap ugh
Don’t let people tell you your opinions are “petty”!!!! Your opinions are valid, and you’re allow to voice them in your own CZcams space without feeling “petty”. I don’t like the idea that if you don’t like something for one reason, then you’re petty. Everyone makes/doesn’t make purchases this way, IF THEY UNDERSTAND THE MARKET THEY ARE PURCHASING FROM.

I literally laughed out loud when you pumped out the NARS foundation. I hate when products pump out too much and I have to be super careful, but somehow it’s hilarious when they go the other direction and offer a tiny drop. Why is this funny? 🤷🏼♀️ But it makes me laugh every time.

My least favorite packaging that I HATE and will complain about literally every chance I get is the hourglass packaging. Looks nice but 1- gets smudged and dirty super easily 2- is such light plastic it feels cheep as hell. It’s so light it feels like it might clot out of my hands. Not okay given the price.
I will never stop complaining about the hourglass packaging. Especially since the products themselves are generally awesome.

Although I don’t think this was the design intent, but I do thank many of these types of annoying packages make them more accessible and easy to use for a lot of people (easier to open, easier for someone blind or who can’t see well to identify, etc). The Patrick Ta one is for sure that way of these.

My first thought with the puff paints product was it’s actually more accessible for folks with arthritis. My bf has a very hard time with small caps; I don’t think that was the intention when choosing packaging, but it’s definitely easier to hold lol 🤷♂️

The fenty cleanser foams a ton so you don’t need much at all - I think that’s why they didn’t want it to dump out too much at once

I have a theory that maybe the Natasha Denona puff paint cap is that size so that people can get a grip on it to open it. Primarily may be people who have trouble with their hands. 🤔 It is quite annoying how small it is though!
I think if it were designed with that intent- it would be advertised. That’s a huge marketable feature and doubt a brand would do it for just one product.
