When the Trooper Gets Fed Up with This Long Pursuit | Florida Highway Patrol

- On April 19, 2024, I, Tpr. D. Robinson, Jr. (I.D. 1199) of the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), was on patrol in Wakulla County, Florida, working an off-duty employment job. I was operating my agency-issued patrol vehicle, with agency insignia and other jurisdictional markings prominently displayed on it. At approximately 12:24 AM, the Tallahassee Regional Communications Center (TRCC) received a stolen vehicle (S10) Be On the Look Out (BOLO) call from the Consolidated Dispatch Agency (CDA).
See Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) case number 2024-64885 for the original S10 report and all other supplemental reports they may have generated for this incident. The S10 BOLO was for a white Land Rover Range Rover bearing Florida license plate number 69KMD. The vehicle was last reported to be southbound on United States Highway 319 (US-319), entering Wakulla County, FL. Trooper A. Meyers (I.D. 1799), who was on patrol, advised the TRCC that he was behind the vehicle and was in pursuit of it. I.D. 1799 advised that the vehicle had made a U-turn and was entering back into Leon County, FL (see I.D. 1799's supplemental report). I immediately notified TRCC that I was en route as the closest backup unit.
At approximately 12:45 AM, I intercepted the pursuit as the backup officer to I.D. 1799. Both I.D. 1799's and my respective patrol vehicles' emergency equipment was activated and in use. The driver's driving was dangerously reckless in their attempt to evade capture. The vehicle was traveling at extremely high speeds within residential areas and other non-residential areas. The driver reached speeds well over 120 miles per hour on several occasions, ran several stop signs, and several steady red lights. Neither roadway driven had a speed limit greater than 55 MPH. The driver failed to maintain lanes throughout the pursuit as well. Due to the driver's reckless and deadly disregard for the people and communities of this great State of Florida, law enforcement, and themselves, I (in accordance with policy) requested permission from I.D. 1799 to overtake him, as the most senior and experienced between the two of us, and become the primary unit to end the pursuit to prevent further danger caused by the criminal operating the vehicle. I.D. 1799 allowed me to do so, and I became the primary pursuing officer.
The vehicle continued traveling westbound on E Orange Ave, approaching the intersection of Blairstone Road. The driver disregarded a steady red light at the stated intersection and continued westbound on E Orange Ave. As I closed the distance to set up for a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT), the driver brake-checked me and swerved to the left before accelerating again. I then repositioned my vehicle and successfully performed a PIT on the vehicle. The vehicle rolled onto its left side and collided with a wooden fence (City of Tallahassee owned) as a result of the successful PIT. The driver and passenger became entrapped inside the vehicle and were helped out by assisting officers and myself.
The driver was identified as Brittney Maria Cordone (Cordone), D.O.B 07/22/1999, of New Haven, Connecticut, and SSN # 1. The passenger was identified as Dakotah Monet Smith (Smith), D.O.B 08/31/1998, and SSN # 1. Both were transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital - Main. EMS run numbers 24-0017210 (Cordone) and 24-0064885 (Smith) were generated for the transport by ambulance. They were both medically cleared and released.
Due to Cordone's spontaneous statement of being the driver (see Tpr. Bethea's (I.D. 1489) narrative below), she was identified as the driver. It should be noted that she was also in the driver's seat as we approached the vehicle. The passenger was restrained in the front passenger seat by her seat belt. Cordone's seat belt was fastened, and she would have had to have been sitting on it. At approximately 12:58 AM, I arrested Cordone. I read Cordone her Miranda rights in the back of the ambulance. She invoked her rights and was transported to the noted hospital without incident.

What happened to your video of a chase and crash from the south side of Chicago with an orange charger. it was like your first video on the channel.

If you can afford one of these vehicles, lease it, then give it back in 3 years. You may limit your misery! #iykyk
A range rover ran that far at full throttle without the engine blowing? Wow.

Same thing for the cop car
I thought the same thing 😂
Too bad that they can't be charged with reckless endangerment for every stop light and stop sign they run. Great job FHP.
I just had that same thought! 😁
they can be, but they wont be. Its all on video there is no denying it in court.
I agree, but yet, The Arrest Report should reflect "MULTIPLE TRAFFIC OFFENSES"which the Trooper will be able to testify to.
Bring in The Dodge Chargers for the P.I.T.
I think they roll it up into one bigger charge. Not positive.
They can be charged for each traffic infraction that occurs.

They gotta bring out the bearcats. That is how they justify them. Then charges will be dropped or reduced to speeding.

11:34 that's when drivers sh-t their pants: when the police car chasing you gets passed by another cop coming after you at a faster speed. hmmm...
They could cut down on fleeing with automatic 5 years no parole if you run 1 st offense. 10 years second offense and life time ban on license. 3rd time 25 years etc.
A life time ban on license wouldn't change anything. Half of these people are running because they don't have a valid license in the first place.

RIP Range Rover ...
If it was more than two years old it was overdue anyhow.
I’ve never seen one Land Rover model ever have a reliability of anything but the lowest possible rating per Consumers Report since I started receiving it in 1998.
A speciality shop that works on Jaguars/Land Rovers directly next to my office told me they never have Evoque’s from the first few model years at the shop because absolutely no one wants to own one after the 6-8 year mark because they are that atrociously built. Apparently the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is the least reliable of all the current Land Rover models for sale per that shop manager.
Lastly, the all-new 2020 Land Rover Defender 4-cylinder engine was so awful that it was more common for the 4-cylinder to feature a complete engine failure prior to reaching 20,000 miles than it was for the engine to make it past the 20k mile mark. It was either Car and Driver or Motor Trend that had a 2020 Defender 4-cylinder in their office fleet of vehicles to drive and they had two separate 4-cylinder engines fail with the first being around the 5,000 mile mark and then at the 16,000 mile mark. Land Rover then gave the magazine a Defender V6 to stop the embarrassment. Land Rover must have solved that issue as it only seems to pertain to first year 4-cylinder models.
Besides, it’s embarrassing enough to drive a 4-cylinder, maybe LR was trying to tell customers to stop being such a shame yo your family and finally man up and get the six or eight cylinder as any man with a shred of masculinity would do. The exhaust note from the 4-banger is so pathetic as well. It basically screams that you’re a guy that has been castrated if you’re driving the in-line-4.
Anyways, all that to say that you can tell society is filled with fools as Land Rover has failed to make even one remotely reliable model this century, yet people still purchase them. I’ve always wondered in Land Rover owners are absurdly ignorant or maybe they really enjoy being able to drive a bunch of different Land Rover models each year for their loaners when their vehicle is at the dealer for repairs.
@@RevAlSharptonz are u sure u don't mean Rang rover, Land rover on the other hand usually have good reliability.
Great job Troopers!!!! Keep us safe!!!!

I have been in a couple pursuits, as an officer you are not supposed to get tunnel vision but you do. It is a high adrenaline rush sustained and you get tired on a long pursuit. Plus, it depends on what kind of vehicle the officers were driving. Now you have a lot of SUV, smaller vehicles, and locally we have a few EV police units. During pursuits my left leg shakes, it’s the only times it has ever happened.

In Australia back in the 70s the Australian Police used Range Rovers as patrol cars, they got dubbed Roll Overs as many of them did just that. One rolled on a straight stretch of road not far from our place. The only thing that held the roof on was the electrical wiring. Luckily the coppers got out of it battered but ok.
