Here’s another tip:where the dodo plane lands (aka the doc) is also counted as the pier. I find it’s easier to get Tuna and rare fish there

Just get A lot and what for it to auto save then set timer for 2 min if you don't get the fish you want in the time close your game no saving and go back in and u will have ur fish bait back

I used about 150 fish bait to get the Mahi-Mahi, still haven't catched it and I also only got one Giant Trevally in the process.

I didn’t know they were that rare, my sister caught it in 10 fish bait. It was rainy, she probably made 10000 bells that night with alll the other rare fish she caught

i caught one Mahi Mahi and im keeping it and trying to get a second one to donate, personally im glad i didn't donate the first one and same with the Treveally cause i still haven't got another Mahi Mahi and only just caught my second Treveally

Tuna took me about 200 bait... caught about 3 Marlins during it!

it's so crazy; i got a mahi-mahi after about 10 tries - took me over 300 fish bait to get a stringfish though, so i guess that cancels out lol but anyway - thank you for this video it was really helpful and informative! :)
i couldn't get the stringfish because i bought the game in april :((

Once I've caught that travally I'll never come to the pier again. At least until an update that includes the pier.

I kid you the heck not as I was watching this video, I was using fish bait on the edge of the pier. I saw what you did and went to the side of the pier and used bait there, and THE FIRST FISH WAS A MAHI MAHI. Before I had even gotten a giant trevally

Ah, nice! The Coelacanth isn't a pier fish. The only requirement for it is that it is raining or snowing that day. I just mentioned it in the video as a measure of comparative rarity. Thanks for watching!

literally the mahi mahi was the first one i caught without bait. i logged into have a full in game fishing day and it was the first fish i caught in 2020 in terms of pier fishing
It took me like 4-5 baits to get the mahi-mahi I didn’t believe it at first honestly 😂 I’m glad I didn’t ignore the shadow thinking it’s something else. I caught the tuna without any bait, but ever since I caught it I haven’t got it again. (I caught both when it was raining)

I think the rain must help. I just rounded up about 30 bait for the Mahi Mahi and got it on the third try! I feel very special!

the mahi mahi and tuna were super easy for me to catch. less than 20 bait each. the blue marlin was a lot harder (at least 100 bait) and i haven’t caught the trevally yet.
I went to a mystery island for the tuna I was running back and forth scaring the smaller fish off and catching the larger ones at the pier, it took me a few hours, since it was painful, I will be using bait for the Mahi Mahi and trevally. I did get lucky with the blue marlin though caught that one while looking for the coelacanth.

Plus I heard the Mahi Mahi and trevally shadows are size 5, which is the same as the sea bass, I’m prepared to catch a lot of those things whilst fishing because there common af

i’m not saying this to brag at all but i was genuinely confused about the rarity of the mahi mahi because it only took me like three fish bait and i caught two in a row. maybe my luck is just crazy or something 😳 but i wish you luck in catching another one ! honestly had no idea it was really rare

I caught them all in my own pier and it was annoying. My hardest catches have been Mahi Mahi, Char Fish, and the Rangchu Goldfish. These three OMG

I have a feeling that your island has the same layout as mine because your island's pier is at the same location as my island's pier and I also live in the southern hemisphere.

I went to a rainy island with 5 bait. #1 was a mahi, #4 was a coelecanth

holy crap i never realized how hard it was to catch the mahi mahi and giant trevally for other people. im in the southern hemisphere and id catch them occasionally when fishing on the pier
My town is located in the southern hemisphere as well and I still had a very difficult time.
I was hunting for an oarfish it took me 2 days but on the first day I got a giant travaly

Today was the first day of me grinding for these fish, I got 3-4 giant travallies and about four or five mahi-mahi , and one oarfish...
Right now here in the NH only the Trevally and Mahi Mahi can be caught. Right now i burned through 200 -ish Fish Bait and caught 5 Mahi Mahi and not one single Trevally. When it rained i didn't catch one of those, but caught 3 of those ancient e-something something fish on the pier. Is this bad or good luck?
I had animal crossing for 2 days and I caught a Hammer Head A Giant Trevally (Had to get another fishing rod here) and a Mahi-Mahi and it was raining. I had lots of fish bait (Lots meaning only 7) So I guess I'm lucky

I caught 1 mahi mahi in 2 fish bait, then around 3-4 more with 0 bait, and first trevally took me about 300 baits, 2nd time with 8, I’ve only caught 1 Tuna, Catching loads of Blue Marlins. And Then Blue Marlins... The bane of my existence! It’s SO common! I have caught about 15-20! Especially during the great Tuna catch!

If you fill the whole pier with custom designs on the floor no pier fish will spawn. I removed all designs today and caught a tuna.
I used over 100 bait so far for the pier.. none of these big fish yet whatsoever.. mostly sea bass, olive flounder and red snapper...
after i watched the whole video i went into animal crossing but first checked the pier and there was a shadow (big) and the first fish i caught was a tuna this is kinda common since i always have luck
My RNG with this has been so weird haha, I got the Mahi Mahi with 11 fish bait, but I'm on 40 with the giant trevally and still no luck

Blue marlin is more rare than tuna btw :) Tuna is the least rare, most common if u will. Still, great info in the vid! I like how you show you catching the fish! :p
I know this isn't a pier fish but for some reason I find the Barrel Eye fish more rare than the coelacanth

I caught a mahi mahi at a NMT island, I was scaring away non pier fish, trying to catch sharks only. I also caught pier fish and then I got a mahi mahi
When he said blue marlin is the most common one you can find, but I found the other fish more commonly than the blue marlin. I CAUGHT 3 OF THE OTHER FISH BEFORE GETTING THE BLUE MARLIN!
I used 40 fish baits for the mahi mahi and 119 for the giant trevally

the only one I have caught is the mahi mahi the other three I have gone through 1k fish bait and not caught a single one after two months trying to catch marlin and tuna and now a week of trevally
