Living in the northern part of the country with a large Suomi population and you spend any time in woods you will learn to respect the skills that have been handed down from previous generations of these people. The Russians learned the hard way!
SISU is a real thing!
Good one Jess!
Thanks Scott! So much of what gets presented these days in the outdoors community comes from them, and most have no clue. “It’s hard to know where you are going, if you don’t know where you been. “ Cheers my friend.
Another fine piece of gear from the Fins!...thanks brother Jess!...woods
Thanks Woods! Yes, indeed. They have their gear dialed in.

Awesome looking tarp Jess and that camo is pretty sweet. Thanks to you and Varusteleka for the discount code.
Nate
Thanks, Nate. Appreciate you, dude.
Great looking tarp, Jess. Thanks for the video. 👍🏻
Thanks Jeff 🤝
Chic camouflage pattern. I think the color is a little too light. But it fits perfectly into the spring season. Have a nice Sunday to you 😊👍
Thanks brother. I know what you mean. In all fairness, I set it up in the light for the video in an area that would give some contrast. Oh, the challenges of filming outdoors 😂
Cheers my friend 🤝
@@EnduranceRoom I use the PenCott Greenzone myself. In my region, I can only use it properly in spring, as the foliage here is lighter than in summer. From summer onwards it's not really worth it for us and I take a tent track/tarp with a darker green to light brown tone.
Best regards my friend 👌😁
@@BushcraftOst Excellent choice! I really like PenCott myself.
I love tarp setups!
Thanks! Me too. Like shelter origami.
Thank you for sharing. I got mine last year when they restocked the tarp. Never used another one. Sometimes I play around with their poncho in M05. Really nice too. Greetings from Germany.
Thanks Danny. Appreciate it. They really do make fantastic quality gear. Cheers
Love the camo pattern, it would go well in the swamp
100%
Sarma TST is good stuff. Varusteleka's house brand, and their builds are solid.
Dude that camo pattern is SO awesome! Blends great in your environment! Keep it up!
Thanks Brother! Dude, M05 makes me feel like 1985, just seeing M83 for the first time. 😂
A precautionary suggestion: I’ve camped in hammocks a lot. Your tarp configuration there would fairly well protect from dew. If it is falling straight down. It would not protect you from rain. The gentlest of breeze will bring rain in under the ends. A 10 mph wind would soak you.
When sheltering a hammoc, have way more shelter than what you may think is needed. And rig it right on the ridge line of the hammock. I’ve been there, done that in the Great Lakes areas and in Canada.

Oh yeah.... A bigger tarp is definitely safer. I have a bit of a secret weapon with my thermal cloak. It makes a waterproof pod/shell. I have been there and done that too.
@@EnduranceRoom G’day, Endurance. Ahh SO! Clever people, these bushcrafters. 😏

👍👍👍
Morning Jess ..
Another good one. Yep, Varusteleka and the Särmä Range of Products .. will never let one down.
I have the Särmä Erakko Tarp, 2.5 x 2.5 m, also with the 9 Tie-downs and for those out there with smaller budgets, at not too far over €40, not a bad alternative .. good quality too.
Thanks for the tips on the alternative setups. I've, up to now, been a bit 'chirpy' about the Tarp having only nine tie-downs (lazy grey cells 😏) as opposed to the many more on the larger DD 3x3. You've shown some good options. I must now slap my little grey cells around somewhat to wake them up before going out and giving those options a go. Thanks, once again, for that 👍😊.
As always my Friend, it's always a pleasure watching your posts (I see that you've got your 'Swiss Pants' on. Good Rags .. don't show the dirt much 😁).
No snow .. Spring on its way 👍. Here, currently 1°C (34°F) with intermittent rain forecast up to and including Thursday. Unfortunately, with the rare short warm spells that we have had up to now .. 'Ticks' 😖. Pulled the first one of the season off the Malti-Poo last week 🙄.
Thanks for the Share and until next time then .. you and the Family .. take care .. Tommy
Hey Tommy! Thanks my friend. The Erakko looks like a great alternative. A couple more tie outs would be interesting, but 9 is quite sufficient. Grey cells 😂 I gotta boot mine into action now and then too. The ole TAZ pants are great. Comfortable and well made. We have had a couple ticks pop up so far here, as well. The weather has been mighty strange still. Up and down, high winds, lots of downed trees. The pines are holding up, the balsam fir and beech trees are having a hard time.
Have a good one 🤝
@@EnduranceRoom 👍
This is a class tarp, my favourite
Yeah buddy, grade A, all the way.
@EnduranceRoom nothing but the best here brotha!!✊️🔥✌️💚
🙏❤️ Love from Scotland ❤️🙏
Thanks my friend. Cheers
Thank you and we appreciate what you do for us... Your viewers.. love the tarp and really love that 20 percent discount..... Fantastic.....
🤝
Hi Jess that is a beautiful tarp . Very nice presentation .Thank you .
Thanks Rod!
Pines and Tarps....Somehow I always bring home the STICKY SAP.
Smells great but what a bugger when using photographic gear.
Nice set -ups.
Cheers!
Thanks Andrew! I know what you mean. My black pants are taking on some camouflage of their own lol
Cheers
They really need to make a basha version of this!
That would be really interesting as well. 👍👍
Hmmm. One more translation for you. This might be a more difficult...
Särmä means in The Finnish military that all you gear, clothes etc are in "Top Notch" condition. "Hey Rookie!", "I like how you have dressed!". "Top notch with your ironing!".
You get the point? 🙂
Excellent. Point received. Thanks for the help. 🤝
Looks like a great tarp! I dig it! Another awesome video, thanks Jess!🤘🏼
Thanks Brother! It really is solid AF. Have a good one 🤝
I have set up mine in a pine tree area and I have already done this test. What I discovered was that it needs some external "makeup" to go unnoticed. In other words, I dragged some logs, stones and some moss and placed it around. The path/trail was less than ten meters away and I'm sure no one saw me during the day. I built a buried fire/Dakota fire. Fantastic!
Looks good. I’ll have to check them out. Thanks for the video. Have a great evening
Thank you, Bro. Have a good one
If anyone is currious regarding the shipping from Varusteleka in Finland to the US, I have ordered quite abit from them over the years and it takes about 7 days.
After watching your previous video Jess, I ordered a Savotta Askare Hip Pack, MultiCam Tropic (14 April) and it arrived on 20 April will pick it up Monday. 😊
Ahhh, that is awesome my friend! Seriously, I have been using mine pretty much every day since I got it. Finding the right load weight has been helpful for me (not too heavy), allows it to be worn loose enough that it can be rotated around the body without over tightening or sagging. It can also be rigged up with a shoulder harness and turned into a full belt kit. 🤝
@@EnduranceRoom
I have a H-harness that I plan on using with it.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing Jess😎
Thanks Herb! Have a good one 🤝
Great video
Hey Jess... Thanks For sharing ...good video !!
grtz. Janneman from Holland !!
Hey Jan! Appreciate it my friend. Have a good one!
Awesome video that is a great bit of gear. I think I need that in my life 😄👍
Great video. I just checked out their site it looks like a great company and not bad prices. Thanks Jess
Thanks Joel! Appreciate it
thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!
Nice tarp. I’m partial to my 10’X10’ tarp as my choice, but could work with a smaller size. If I had to. I guess. sigh
Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
Currently I have the cheaper plain green version (made for them by DD Tarps I believe) and the 8x8' size is the most versatile size and shape tarp I own. This MO5 version is on my wish list.
Yep, the Särmä Erakko. Got one too .. and for those with smaller budgets, not a bad alternative.
Excellent. The Erakko looks like a great option. Glad to hear you appreciate the 8x8 format also.
I'm so tired of Hot Florida, I'm a seasons guy( original NY guy) wish I could come back, thank you for the review.
Been there myself. Used to live in Melbourne years ago. Have a good one
Team Hatka!! Kinda wish i got that pack in the M05 but wanted that discreet look of the OD😂✊️🔥✌️💚
Hey!! Another option would be to run some skrim on it. Easy to make with some old camo fabric or jute twine, run it under and around some of the webbing. 🤝
@EnduranceRoom Yesss I saw that was it on the website?? Just have OCD and want it all matching 😆 🤣 but I do have some camo net stuff
Nice!
Thanks!
👍🏻👍🏻
🤝
Surly a British Army Basha beats this hands down, or am I missing something?
Depends what you are into. The basha is great, but offers less coverage and more weight. I don’t think it is NIR compliant either. Maybe it is, but I can’t find any info on it confirming one way or the other.
@@EnduranceRoom Weight 140 grams more. Size 6.25 v Basha 5.1 sq M cost in UK £150 v basha £30. Basha far superior finish , inclues grab handels and many tie out points with gromits.
@@denisoleary5302 That’s great. Like I said, depends what you are into. 👍
↟↟Hey Jess🙌🏻
Excellent tarp and functional camo specifically for my area, but unfortunately, I can no longer order these products directly, although I live very close by. Thanks for the video Brother..
Cheers
Hey Alex! Thanks Brother. Appreciate it. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully that’s temporary. Wishing you and yours all the very best. Cheers
