Iowa deer hunting is great. I’m born and raised here. I’m an average hunter at best and have a 160” and 180” deer to my name, with many others in the 130-140” range. However, I feel like the way that hunting here is represented on CZcams is not a fair depiction of what most hunting here is like - especially if you don’t have access to intensively managed private land. There aren’t Booners behind every tree. Public land is relatively minimal and getting more crowded every year. Just my 2 cents for those who watch CZcams videos and maybe get the wrong idea. Enjoyed the content.

Only 12ft lol. 90% of our stands in Central Ks are in cedar trees and only 10ft. Cover like you said is key. Great buck and great shot.

I’ve put in for Iowa bow the last 2 seasons and haven’t been drawn. And that’s in the western part of the state. Iowa sure did keep some of the money though. F’n crooks!

When I first started hunting in Iowa back in 1997, I drew a tag the first 4 years I applied. Then it started getting popular with the magazines and TV shows and now it takes 4 preference points at $63 each to draw a tag. My 2021 Iowa tag cost me a total of $917. It worked out for me. I took a 173 3/8" 12 pt.

Heck ya man that's awesome. Had some shanagains like that happen to me with a couple of hunters. So me and my brother moved and he killed a doe (blew at him) and I killed one of my biggest deer to date with a drop tine. Keep up the great work man.

It’s amazing people like this don’t realize it has Nothing to do with anything you did or thought it’s all about the Unrealistic Great Land u have that 99.9% of hunters don’t have and could do exactly what ur doing if not better if they had access to this land
That’s why people like Kip have a TV show. Because he has the land to do this. Still takes a good hunter to accomplish these hunts.
You do realize this hunt was at Midwest Antler Co -- an outfitter that anyone with an Iowa tag in that zone can hunt, correct? This isn't even our land...
