      Thank you for sharing this. I'm 25, in grad school, newly married, and starting my career. I think this video came at the right time to remind me of the reality about my priorities in life. Keeping these basics in mind is the clarity I need to stay consistent and manage my time more efficiently. I really like your videos about crawling, hanging, and jumping and I wonder how to design a minimalist routine for those movements. Thank you!

      Congrats on all the progress in life! 2x per week doing more traditional strength training like in this video. 2x per week doing "movement sessions" combining crawling, hanging, some jumps, maybe even adding in some flexibility work. You'll be golden :) @@anthonyucella4243

      Great video as always, and congrats to your family! Here's my minimalist approach:
      MON-FRI, 5 rounds of 6 exercises with 30-sec rest between exercises, 2-min rest (with arm/hand/neck stretching) between rounds.
      * Pull ups, full range and slow (8-12)
      * Side hop squats (30)
      * Push ups (30)
      * Hanging leg raises (15)
      * One legged calf raises (15)
      * Pike pushups (20)
      Should also mention the full body yoga routine (morning, afternoon, before bed) which include the pigeon and exterior/interior hip stretches that you shared with us.
      I've seen incredible results. I feel loosey goosey all day. My tennis elbow is gone. My ring and pinky fingers were starting to numb out on me, but they have healed and playing guitar is no longer a struggle. I also had a massive ganglion cyst on my wrist for over 15 years, it popped 8 months ago and has not returned. I feel so strong and my 6-yr old has been inspired and I sometimes find him on the floor doing push ups and pikes as well.
      Question, do you have any videos that discuss chronic Achilles tendinitis and/or plantar fasciitis? Would love to hear your view on any exercises that deal with that. I injured myself 3 years ago due to doing too much too quickly, after a long period of inactivity (got lazy due to our newborn at the time, was busy being a stay-at-home-dad and slacked off on my work outs.)
      Thanks for everything. Kudos!

      Spot on, 31 yo right now and playing squash but body started to fail no me. I do this exact approach in my basement gym and add in exercises that strengthen my weak points, for example knees and hips. 1 year after my PFPS diagnosis i can now play pain free and getting even better. My 30-40 yo period is gonna be my physical peak for longevity.

After injuries through work and weight training, this was the best option to gain strength and mobility. Best choice ever. Love the sport and what it’s taught me about my body over the years and love the time I get to spend with her! I’ve always supplemented with weights and really like a ‘landmine’ setup. Man he nailed it when he spoke about being in your 30s/40s and that you arent in the mindset of trying to be an elite athlete anymore. That is so so true. I just turned 40 and i used to workout in college and shortly after graduation about 6 times a week. Then i got busy with work, life, all of the stuff that comes with getting older and now I just want to maximize my time i have for workouts and whatever my body transforms to, im fine with. I just want to move each day, improve my mindset and live with the results. This channel has really sparked my motivation once again!

At 39, I'm still discovering my peak physically but recovery is challenging, so it's a fine balance of stimulation vs overtraining. We're fortuate to have a variety of training methods and influences, it's then a case of finding what works, what's fun, and what's sustainable. I actually started off my fitness journey at 31 (I am going on 33 this year) where i started with a bit of running (and obviously healthier eating closer to a semi strict LCHF with aded 8-16 fasting), added stretching after a while followed by bodyweight exercises i could do in my kitchen combined with a short routine of core mobility in the morning and before bed. I kept doin HIIT running of mostly 3Km runs 2-4 times/w. last year i got a gym membership after regularly using an outdoors gym a few times/w. I have now dropped from 120kg to 85kg and built myself up to the 97kg i am today. The real gains started when i combined an indoor gym with the goal of doing an actual pullup (i were mostly seated by the computer and sofa for almost 10 years due to untreated depression and NPF diagnoses). Started off with hanging in bars for 20s, i have progressed to 1m 10s over a year and are able to do assisted pullups with no weight assist. I only do bodyweight exercises combined with callisthenics and running, this equals out to about 1-2hrs of actual dedicated exercise/week, 1-3 15min runs at 3km HIIT. 1-3 40min gym sessions. This in combination with 2-5min mobility routines in the mornings and before bed got me healthier and much stronger than i ever were in my youth. This channel have given me lots of inspiration and added many exercises to my rotation. Thanks guys!
    My advice is WALK A LOT and move with purpose, really think about how you move, it will help you live better, longer, stronger.

Now that she’s a few months older sleep has been getting better and now to start the year I’m back to working out and my GF has joined me in the mix. I just turned 40 and have been working out for 25 years. The notion that once you get to this age, your body will inevitably weaken is outdated BS. As long as you adjust how you are training, emphasize things like mobility, form, and recovery, eat very well and lead a very healthful lifestyle, you can continue to improve for many more years to come. I'm in the best shape of my life now, not just aesthetically but also functionally. In my opinion, 40 is the perfect junction of having peak physical capability combined with years of accumulated wisdom.

    I’m 52, been working out since high school, have three kids, including one, just out of university, one in second year, and an eight-year-old. How do you stay fit through your 30s 40s and into your 50s is by making yourself the priority. 45 minutes of any kind of exercise four days a week is all it takes whether you’re pushing pulling squatting, running biking, walking callisthenics yoga just do it!
    If you have to wake up at six in the morning or work out at seven or eight in the evening, just do it .
    Be the priority, and everything else in life will be easier as you’ll be fit and young.

    There is a great research paper called "No time to lift" that basically tells the same story. Push Pull Squat with at least four sets per muscle per week. The gains will be slower, but not everybody has the time/money/whatever to go 3-5 times to the gym for 90 minutes. I have been doing it with the sole purpose of "sticking to it". Forcing myself not to add any sets or exercises but stick to this short training routine for at least 6 weeks before changing a thing. I only add 60 mins zone 2 training and 1 day of 100 heavy-ish kettlebellswings to get the pump pumping. Keep going, your stuff is great guys!

    Really love your stuff guys keep it up!! Dad to a 2 year old and all my training went out the window when he was born, however 8 months ago I got really consistent with little daily activities. The best way I find to stay consistent was to do little bits all throughout the day! I work from a desk so I set a 25 minute timer every time I sit down, when the timer goes off I complete a set of reps on a given exercise, push ups pull ups squats dips leg raises ect, this consistence every day along with eating well has helped me get down to 17% body fat for the first time in my life, my plan is to continue this while upping the difficulty by going through the progressions and adding weight!! Anybody else do anything like this?

    Appreciate this so much, congrats on the kids too, the biggest blessing. Echo what he said about a home gym. I have a pull up bar, some kettlebells and a weighted vest, about 20 square feet of garage space, and have never felt too limited. I also have 4 kids, but it’s easy to get something quick and effective done a few times a week.
    Sided note, as your kids get older, they actually appreciate seeing their dad have a workout routine… more is caught than is taught, as they say!

    Congrats on the twins!! This video hit home for me, and was incredibly reassuring I am on the right track. Through covid (and wfh), becoming a father, and entering my 30’s, what you describe is exactly what I do…calisthenics, the super sets, push/pull/squats…the only difference is my mentality is all around “maintenance” as opposed to actively seeking/planning progressive overload..

    When the kids came, and they are now 2 and 4, everything changed. So did my training.
    I reduced it to the minimum, doing at least 10 push-ups every single day was my staring point. Now I'm doing 25 pushups + 20 in variation, 15 Burpees and 50 bodyweight squats. I love it and has become a part of me. Shout out to you guys and @kboges!

    Still healthy and strong at 43! As a busy wife and mom to three, I understand the importance of longevity and “aging” slowly. Most people mistake me for being around 30 and I attribute that to strength training with weights (since age 16), ballet, Pilates, yoga, Budokon, Capoeira. I’ve tried it all, but moving well and often is what has created a youthful body and mind for me, personally.

Strength is going up on key movements.
    If interested my movements on lower Day ars: front squat, stiff leg deadlift, Bulgarien split squat, Calf raise variation.

    being a parent is what forced me to be more minimalist in every aspect of my life: I had to be more intentional because my of my limited time and resources. sometimes limitations on our time and space can make us more creative. it is also so easy to put them first and yourself last. that said, my kids are older now and since I workout at home, they see me working to my goals everyday and I hope that will help them be motivated to stay fit their whole lives.

    I agree. I'm 40, have been training for over 25 yrs, and have also switched to goblet squats. I also moved from 5 days a week to 4 and my workouts are ~45 minutes vs 1 to 1.5 hrs like they used to be. I have short rest periods and get 5-6 exercises in that time, in addition to my warmup sets.

      Hi @claytonthomas8806 I am a father of 2, 30yrs old, and I am curious about you joining the special forces. If you don't mind me asking, with all your kids under 10 and special forces likely being long periods of time away from family, what is your motivation behind that decision? I couldn't imagine living far away from my kids for any period of time. Maybe that's not how special forces work?

    I’m turning 31 in a few months and for me what’s stood out is the importance of proper rest and recovery. When I was in my early twenties I could eat poorly and not worry about sleep that much, and still get fitter. Nowadays, simple things like getting enough protein and stretching well after lifting is paying dividends.

    31 y/o father of 1 with 1 on the way here. Currently have several full body free weight/pull-up/push-up circuits I circulate through. I like combining movements and do 4 different movements per superset to both build tone and get solid Z2 cardio all in 45min-1hr. Minimalist fitness is where it’s at for full time working parents! All you need is a living room and maybe a kettlebell.

    Just turned 60 and as a female strength training is even more important now…been training since I was 17 as a fitness leader and my own personal programs. I have recently dropped the gym sessions and now have a gym at home with dumbbells, kettlebells and a pull up bar. Absolutely loving my minimalist set up and I’m getting some better gains with this rather than using machines at the gym. Love Watching your vids and am always inspired by you boys. Congrats on the twins! I have a 2 year old and I was having a hard time staying consistent at all with weights, and then a year ago I learned about HIT (not HIIT), and started doing a slow set to failure on each machine at the gym (4 to 6 machines, leg press, pull down, chest press, row, and maybe leg curl and extension, and then some core) and have made super good consistent progress! I do weights once or twice a week for about 20 minutes a session which is super manageable! The strength translates to pull ups and push ups too! When I can't do my little machine circuit I do push ups and pull ups, but it's amazing! My workouts pre kid would easily take 70 minutes, but I think I feel stronger now than when I was doing that!

    I would add the EMOM format to the list, as your workout is timed, so you can't overrun and it's very time efficient
