  • In this video I replace the motor and water release valve on a Hoover carpet scrubber. Enjoy.

    with all carpet cleaners I think people should pay attention not to JOLT them....Example... you're moving along doing the cleaning... the dirty water tank is like 60% full...you turn the machine really fast and water might get sucked into the motor before the float has a chance to stop it...I try to be really careful to not making any sudden quick movements when using them..

    • @TheRandomVidsChannel

      It corrodes inside the motor as well as outside, so it would be very difficult to clean. The only thing I can think of is putting some sort of lubricant on it, like silicone grease or something to protect the bare metal. Once the drive belt is taken off, the motor should pop right out. And the electrical connections can be cut(close to the motor). Then the connections need to be stripped and the new motor wired in using either inline connectors or wire nuts.

    • @JillofAllTrades2
      @JillofAllTrades2 Před rokem +1

      @@TheRandomVidsChannel My favorite connectors are Wago lever nuts. Or I have a container of various diameter adhesive lined heat-shrink tubing. LOVE these for LOTS of fixes, including holes/slits in straws that are specific to drink containers. And this: I have a semi-permanent source of dishwashing soap dispensable at the sink by running clear tubing from a LARGE bottle of dishwashing soap under the sink to the dispenser tube that's usually/can be installed into the sink. I only have to change out about once a year, so it beats refilling the small pump dispenser every month or two. If I'm lucky, the manufacturer doesn't change the design of the bottle and I simply unscrew the cap (which I have modified to accept one end of the hose; I used plumber's putty to make it airtight) from the empty bottle and insert into the new bottle without detaching from the pump dispenser tube to which I've attached the adhesive lined heat-shrink tubing. I've tucked the original empty soap dispenser bottle way in the corner under the sink so anyone coming behind me who isn't so handy can simply screw it back onto the neck under the counter.

    Any ideas on how to prevent the new motor from encountering similar corrosion? Seems inefficient to replace the motor without resolving the underlying issue.
    If I manually cover those openings on the underside, what’s the trade off? I’d guess it’s probably not designed as ventilation, considering it’s on the underside of the machine. So… Is that supposed to be what they advertise as HeatForce? Just residual heat from the motor spinning? Cuz personally, I’ll take not having to replace the motor over what little “HeatForce” I get off the motor.

      I think people paying a hundred bucks for a shampooer are just getting the cheapest option. Kind of like the people who buy the $20 knockoff of a $100 product. There's a reason you save money when you purchase the product, because it's cheaply made. But, because it's cheaply made, it doesn't last. So, in the end you either buy a $20 product periodically, or you decide to get a better product.
