Cool, but I don't buy off road 4x4s for the 0-60, or quarter mile times!... I have never heard any of my friends in our local off road community discuss (or ask) the 0 to 60, or quarter mile times of a new rock crawling, or overland build lol... We talk fuel range, rock crawling prowess, winches, rock sliders and suspension etc lol... I'm just joking lol.. Great video!
IMHO People keep comparing the Bronco R to the 392, but tend to leave out the fact that the Bronco R is a purpose built Baja style desert runner... The Wrangler 392 is not.. The Wrangler is superior for technical slow rock crawling, because it has 2 solid axles that give maximum articulation.. However, solid axles transfer more energy to the chassis and driver, so are not very comfortable for high speed desert running... All things considered, I think the Bronco Raptor is very innovative, and the 392 is nothing special, and old platform that they stuffed a V8 into, to make it buzz worthy.. They simply put a V8 in a Rubicon... Meh lol.. Aftermarket has been doing that for years

These on road comparisons are useless to us off roaders. What use is a monster V8 with gas prices the way they are. Also what use is it sitting there spinning your tires in the sand. How about an off road comparison? After all, isn't this a dedicated off road rig?

    • @ftr911drvr

You act as if this thing doesn't get v8 gas mileage lol smh. Honestly this car is just as silly as other ridiculous car most people with Broncos don't take them off road , same with the f150 raptor they're just running up and down the road. Which is why as ugly as this Bronco raptor is the fact it costs so much and has way less power than the Wrangler makes it a joke. IF a BIG IF you're really taking it off road the Raptor is overkill anyway its just for the guy that would buy a raptor, an Escalade, a jack up truck that never goes off road you get the point lol

@@ftr911drvr Let's see how well the jeep does in what the Bronco Raptor was designed for, high speed desert running. The V8 jeep is nothing more than a lame attempt by jeep to cut into Ford's Bronco sales. Good luck. Don't get me wrong, jeep makes a fine vehicle. Remember Ford had been building off road vehicles starting at exactly the same time as Willys. I'll stick with FORD, an American owned company.

90% of these WILL be $ Pri¢e gouged 10-20k above msrp and will RARELY see the dirt - just Trader Joes and Freeways, but it is probably the best off road execution ever from the big3 (+range rovers) for do it all suv. I got a 5th gen 4 Runner lifted on 33s and Magnussen supercharger and the truck is 5k lbs has 350hp/350tq and does 0-60 6sec flat and probably 14s @ 95-98mph. For 75k you can build a(proven reliable) blown 4R on mid travel suspension, regeared w lockers on both ends, wheel wells cut/welded for 35's and have unlimited aftermarket already w/o that Ford dice-roll motor stigma that these Eco-boosts all come with. Coyote from F150 or the 3.5L Eco-poop would have been THE WIN for this thing....too bad its so slow for all the hype and carrying the Raptor name with the Explorer ST engine.
The B Raptor seems unmatched for high speed rollers and hitting rocks and runs great for its weight and 37's.

The Bronco Raptor is not built for straight line speed the diff+tcs combo in Raptor does not allow full power power till 3500 rpm. This has been specifically done by Ford to have all the torque low down in range. At those rpms if the engine revs out quickly it will be very difficult to handle on tight off road tracks. Hence the engine is tuned to be dull till 3000 rpm
That 3.0 V6 is a brute of an engine. The Lincoln Nav with this engine when DP tuned made around 450 ish whp on 93.
Its any day a superior engine but in Bronco Raptor its made to do more things than competitors so speed is not the biggest criteria here

If money were no object I'd "de-Raptor" a Raptor - just to get the big engine and all the stronger bits vs. a Sasquatch. Go back to 315/70R17 Sasquatch tires, "de-lift" it, remove all the Raptor branding nonsense, apply Sasquatch fenders / flares and final drive ratio. It'd be a much quicker, lighter, more efficient vehicle. It'd also fit more of the narrow trails that are interesting. And it'd all be legal mods. Could likely sell a lot of the Raptor stuff and make up much of the difference in MSRP (assume waiting until some of the buzz and supply chain shortage pricing calms down).

  • @MrNicholg

You guys talk about off-road tires like they are mud terrains being compared to Pilot Super Sports. Reality is the 35-inch all-terrains are probably just as good as a cheap set of highway all-seasons that come on most crossovers and SUVs, if not better in terms of grip and braking.

But I guess 0 - 60 & 1/4 mile times in heavy lifted 4x4s is important for mall parking lot posers & bench racers. I'm old enough to remember when 0 - 60 in 6.3 seconds was a good time for sports cars & muscle cars. That's fast enough for a 5,750 lbs. Bronco on 37s.
