The offense is more an unfortunate side effect of the story telling - the guise of a very foreign (and very fake) culture from an American perspective is used to satirise American culture; it works, because Americans are relatively ignorant of the rest of the world.

But from that moment on, I thought about the fact that the film was not about Kazakhstan at all, but about America and its society that started yelling supporting the war in Iraq. I got the impression that these Americans are no different from the Russian invaders who invaded Ukraine, Georgia or Moldova.

Patriotic Americans will tolerate a lot of exaggerated claims and boasting from foreigners but when someone like Borat insults the quality of our potassium , he’s crossed a line in the sand.
