The look in his (the actor's) eye when he says "I hope it gets better than this, coach.." just nails Bird the man! Best moment of Ep. 3..
Being from the Detroit area I hated Bird. Never been a Lakers fan but loved the Michigan boy from Lansing. Because of the footage you can find now I spend much time watching old games and highlights. Over the last 10 yrs I have to admit Bird has became my favorite player of all time. I appreciate how winning time is not sugar coating anything.
It’s a great show. But I do wish they were more accurate with it.
Love the show and the guy playing Bird should get an Emmy for being able to perfectly replicate Bird's jump shot. Don't know how he does it and be so accurate. We would practice it as kids and it was so unorthodox to bring it back behind his head the way he does that nobody could do it without it looking goofy.
Probably the best scene so far of Legend, the kid being told by the sheriff of his dad's unfortunate passing. I must've rewinded it 10 times. I am always soft for father son scenes and they make me fold and tear up without even comprehending everything first, seriously.
The Celtics drafted Bird in 1978, the year his college cohort graduated, not in '79. The episode makes it clear that he was able to go back to school as a fifth-year senior before signing with Boston.
Bird was the greatest. This show is really good!
Bird was an absolute basketball monster. It’s French Lick. I have been there. First thing you see when you drive into town is the big casino that dominates the whole town.
Loved how they had Larry keepin' track and it was great when he's like, "33...."
I love that bird just didnt look like he could ball 😂
Really glad they are giving Larry Bird a proper back story and building up his character. He was undoubtedly one of the biggest parts to the whole Lakers dynasty he gave them all nightmares and dominated the 80s with Magic.
Hands down best part is the ending. The leather boot stomps on the ground out of the taxi in French Lick and Willie Nelson hits that note in the chorus - Game over, chills. Muah ❤
Watching this episode makes me think about comic books. Usually, the supervillain has a sad back story which drives them...
"This ain't no Cosplay"
It is real life....
I’m not a big basketball fan, but a friend of mine made a post about Bird, so I wanted to hear his trash talking. Thanks!
From what I've heard from those who played him, he wasn't like the Yo Momma trash talker, he just made them feel like they can't do anything to stop him and he could do whatever the hell he wanted and just said what he said he'd do and do that all night. crazy how that can make any proud guy go insane!
They depicted Larry Bird Almost perfectly in my eyes.
Bird was drafted in 1978 and he lived in French Lick not French Leak
leaks and ramps are for salad
i love this show!.....and thanks for you video!!!
That was gangster when he was playing in jeans in that scrimmage! That was how disrespectful he was! Hahaha 😂
They could've cut out him seeing his dad like that. Just left it at his dad looking at the clippings then maybe Larry visiting his dad's grave. That's really not going to get Larry to like the show.
#birdgang 💚🐐🍀
I admit I have never seen this show. But, I agree with what you said. It seems heartless and disrespectful to me to show it like that little clip seems to portray.
Had it been my family, it would hurt me deeply for it to be put into a TV show for "entertainment purposes."
Larry Bird is my favorite basketball player.
I agree, Bird's family tragedy with his Dad had nothing to do with his skill set or how he came to the Celtics to face Magic. It was a private thing that was unfortunate but not something that adds to the Laker/Celtic rivalry. Felt like they exploited this painful moment to build more depth in Larry for the audience. Definitely not necessary or relevant to the show's plot. Wish they would have trimmed it or not even mentioned it.
Liked the poetic and human portrait of Larry bird. nice episode
They don't make basketball players like they used to.
They do not.
They’re all soft as puppy shit nowadays
WHO makes these basketball players you speak of?
Just Imagine birds, body stayed healthy an Lenny bias didn't die much different story.
Awesome
Bird was the closest thing to a perfect player. Great iq, great shooter, great teammate. Sort of how Jokic is now.
Wouldn’t Lebron be more perfect than those two with his athleticism/speed/defense(in his prime)
@@805fillmore good point, physically those two can't compare to Lebron but in my opinion, Bird's and Magic's intangibles, like leadership, charisma, being team oriented and unselfishness as teammates were more genuine that Bron's
@@805fillmoreLeBron is a cancer.
His hometown French Leak.
“He continues his late father tradition…” is this an AI voice?
Bird was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the 1978 NBA draft. He didn't sign a contract to play for Boston until after his Senior season at Indiana State. He actually signed his rookie contract in June of 1979. This channel needs to get their facts right.
I hope when they finish with Magic Johnson and Kareem they move straight to Kobe and Shaq
The Celtics drafted Bird in 1978, when he was first eligible, even though he still had a year of college left.
Larry looks practically like his moms twin! You gotta wonder what kinda woman she had to be, when you saw how cold blooded Larry was 😂
Larry Bird was a better basketball player than Magic Johnson.
If Basketball were Chess… Bird would be the Queen
@@chancemoody8448
In chess, the queen moves all over the board.
In basketball, Larry Bird was all over the court.
That guy was a real basketball genius.
And that genius was also shown as a coach.
@@chancemoody8448 how about a rook? They usually aren't a big force until later in the game when it really matters, they move all over the board too, and almost always are involved in forcing a checkmate.
@@chancemoody8448hu😅
They were even as players, but Lakers were a slightly better team than Boston.
I thought this was about Larry Bird but I heard more about Magic Johnson than Larry Bird!!!
They need to figure out how to bring this show back
Thry should do a spin off for the Celtics and larry bird! Make it dark and evil!
Give bird Kareem Wilkes worthy and scott in a weaker western conference? Yeah. 6 rings not 5
The guy playin him looks a lot like the young bird, but he gave no attempt to his southern accent. Larry was a hick, but the actor didn’t sound like one at all.
I live in Indianapolis. That’s definitely a “Kentuckiana” (the southern Indiana/northern Kentucky area) accent this actor has.
Southern accent ? seriously ?
*LARRY BIRD IS FROM INDIANA.*
Indiana is not a southern State.
@@capitanfuturo594 - Larry Bird grew up 75 miles from Louisville. Is Louisville in the South? More correctly, Bird grew up in what linguists call the "Hoosier Apex", an island of distinctly Southern dialect and pronunciation in Indiana deeper than almost anywhere else in the South.
@@BrendonCarr If you think Bird has a southern accent, you've never been south of Indiana
Indiana is in the north
Why did they Make Larry such an angry deuch, He had snarky, comical trash talk , not a "I hate the world" attitude. such a bizarre portrayl.
Wait dis they change the dad's story?
Bird was a better student of the game, had better fundamentals.
Magic was more athletic, stronger. Had a better team and possibly a better owner.
His parents. The end.
If they drag this into a jordan era its gonna catapult this show into another galaxy ... sadly jordan himself would want way to much money to use his image ohwell nice to dream !
I don't think so, with the GOAT debate, i believe MJ would want HBO to portray him in a mythical way, Just like he kept the last dance footage hidden for decades until Bron won in Cleveland.
@SQUADawkins That's kinda what I mean his brand has to be through his image and his vision ...micheal was not messy he was very careful. he was not haveing extra scandalous things going on publicly in his career and partying like a machine . The most scandalous being his gambling habit and the flu game . but he definitely would never let them portray that . He would definitely want it to depict him like a Saint that just worked hard and never ever did anything wrong. But everyone knows micheal was a fiercely grimey competitor . I think it would make a great show and if they also kept it with this vintage looking visual ... who ever is casting actors to portray the players in this series is doing a phenomenal job .. great video !
What is this on
HBO max or just max now.
Maybe, just maybe, 10% of the show is factual. The rest is bullshit.
This is more about Magic Johnson and the Faker's instead of Larry Bird!!!! 😡 False Advertising Go Work for Russian TV 😡
