  • You probably know about the Flipper Zero, but what about HackRF Portapack? This device allows you to detect, decode and manipulate radio signals ranging from 1 MHz to 6 Ghz. Like Flipper Zero it can emulate key fobs, garage door openers, door bells and rf remote controls. But it an also decode ADS-B packets from airplanes, AIS packets from ships and APRS packets from radio amateurs. It can decode POCSAG pager signals, electronic metering systems, wireless tire pressure measuring signals and much more. It is an interesting tool, but not without its flaws.
    You can find more information on the MAYHEM firmware on the github: github.com/eried/portapack-ma...

      You'll probably already have it now, but ali was the way to go for me (so long as it arrives) saved more than half what I expected to pay for the HackRF + Porta elsewhere. Comes with 5 antennas and a LNA too, was skeptical of using ali, but people I trust said it's fine so I guess it's fine, just longer shipping and less customer service I assume. Can't wait for mine to arrive, Flipper is great, but getting unmodulated signals is something I want to do now, radio has really grabbed a hold on me.

    Not really two products you can compare, they are build to pentest / debug completely different areas … one is a full fledge SDR the other a tool for specific areas made easy. Both tools can be used for redteaming and both should be carried not one over the other. Also for the most out of your HackRF use it with a laptop. Two very great tools, those who call Flipper Zero for a toy don’t really work in the industry that’s for sure :) A “toy” simple tool always has the biggest impact on a customer when showcasing security …

Remember, flipper is much more evolved. This is new and has a lot of opportunity to be far better than the flipper but for size, flipper wins, but add a headset to it and it looks just like a radio.

I'm planning a road trip and going to be sleeping in my car, I was sort of hoping I could find a morally grey area way to use the showers at gyms as I go along my way, but it seems like you need to have direct contact with the cards to clone them. I've been reading conflicting info about the hackrf having no nfc/rfid abilities and maybe the chameleon being the best option

    • @PerroLeal
      @PerroLeal Před 4 měsíci

      unless your gym uses very old card readers then no. Playback doesn't work as the nfc process is a handshake -- the transmitter sends data using a rolling hash and the nfc card replies with a salted response. If you record then play it back the transmitter will just think it's jibberish.

      @A_Steam_User Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@YardKat666 dont do that, because making planes not know the location of themselves or other planes can easily get planes lost, and even cause crashes. normally flight data is needed to know if the pilot is going in the right direction, if they are at the right altitude, or if they are at risk of collisions with other aircraft, spoofing plane data might also lead with aircraft flying into dangerous areas, such as places with terrorists which are known to use MANPADS, this can lead to the plane being shot down, another possibillity is flying into restricted airspace where fighter jets will be scrambled to shoot down the airliner. At least without an external amplifier, you can't do much damage with the hackrf. Illegal most times nonetheless.

    The flipper might be a toy out of the box with its software limitations. But modified with custom firmware and added hardware to the GPIO ports the flipper is a strong and handy tool. The big pluss for rhe flipper is that it has all these functions in a slick and tiny design where as the hackRF is quite large and not easy to hide.

    Did you use special drivers to install the latest version of Mayhem firmware? I'm having issues with the firmware loader. I have the same unit as you. Also...do you have a link for the speaker? Thanks!

    • @sn0ren
      @sn0ren  Před 7 měsíci

      I just installed the firmware by loading it onto the sd card and the Firmware Flash Utility in the Utilities folder. The speaker I ripped off some other random electronics device in my pile, so I don't have a link for it, sorry.

      You need to download the files for the sd card and overwrite them when you update your firmware.
