- A few weeks ago I was invited by Dr Sarada Natarajan of the Bangalore Ramana Maharshi Centre for Learning to give a talk on Muruganar. I was not able to do it live, so I made this recording. I will complete the series later by adding two more installments. The talk was recorded in a studio at the University of Western Australia.

I am originally from Tamilnadu. Now married and have been living in the United States for 12 years. I have been to T'malai once and had a profound experience of bliss. It wasn't realization or enlightenment but just an experience. I was very young at that time.
I wanted to go back now. However family life, job and stuff is not permitting me to travel.
I do self inquiry meditation everyday. Even though I am unable travel to T'malai, you Mr. Godman bring T'malai to me.

Just for correctness of pronounciation (not that it really matters or that it takes any thing away from this great video) -
Muruganar - is pronounced Moo-roo-ga-naa-r, where the moo and roo are shortened oo. Same way Kunju Swami is pronounced as Koo-n-joo Swami with oo sound shortened. Thanks again.

That's a nice coincidence. I just yesterday finally started reading _Guru Vachaka Kovai_ _(the copy you sent me last year with your autograph)_ simultaneously in both versions, the one edited by you and the Sadhu Om /Michael James one.
26:37 That really does sound awfully like a psychedelic trip of sorts, and it also displays the typical mix of profound experience with paranoia and confusion. It's kind of obvious why the Maharshi disapproved of the habit of using such substances.

Anyone, trying to progress spiritually should read Ramalinga Adigalar aka Vallalar. He is a great Siddha, who broke all secrets, laid down clear ways to attain enlightenment. He himself said that “i opened a shop, no one is interested” and vanished one fine day. He is still alive and attaches to deserving compassionate souls for a brief period and guides them. So much to write, i will stop here.
*Vallalar Swami* also said " You people only understand when the white skinned (Westerners??) people with black heart (spiritually ignorant)" . In Swami's words "அகத்தே கருத்து புறத்தே வெளுத்த...". So I think the time has come. People may soon understand "Vallalar Swami's" teachings and follow Him all over the world.

Hi David, I am very exited to see you here with this presentation because is given me the opportunity to approach you with some queries about the whole subject of "awakening". I am a novice in the subject. I been reading few books of yours as well as Papaji and Nisargadatta Maharaj.
For what I understand, and I can be completely wrong, the key practice is "self inquiry" and be aware of my own awareness.
I found very difficult to apply this practices along the day (harder in the present time) and I don't know if there is any book or notes that can provide me some practical guidance.

I don't know. Travel is extremely complicated the moment. There are major government restrictions at both ends of the journey, along with safety issues that arise from flying long distance. The only route available to me at the moment is through the UK, which is not a healthy place to be stuck in if I can't get a flight out to India.
@@David_Godman We are seeing second wave in Mahatashtra which could very well spread to other states. It is also feared, due to new strain its spreading speedily. Please stay where you are for some time.
@@Suraj-ci9vu India and Germany had medical sciences that doesn't subscribe to contagion theory. Germ theory was never proved by Louis Pasteur, but it was taken for granted. And HIV and covid were never isolated and passed kock's postulates. Noble laureate PCR inventor Kary Mullis debunked HIV. His videos were removed from YT. Covid is a rich philanthropist's idea.

If you mean the chanting that begins each video, it is the first two lines of Ramana Puranam, a work composed by Muruganar in the 1930s. The chanting was done by Ramananjali. This series of talks was organised to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Ramananjali group. The full Ramana Puranam chant by the Ramananjali group comes from a CD that was brought out by the Ramana Maharshi Centre for Learning, Bangalore. I think the CD is no longer available. A complete English translation of Ramana Puranam, with an introductory biography of Muruganar, can be found here: www.davidgodman.org/book/ramana-puranam/
