Talks on Sri Ramana Maharshi: Narrated by David Godman - The Old Hall

- Ramana Maharshi lived and taught in the Old Hall at Ramanasramam from 1928 until a point in the 1940s when it became too small to accommodate the crowds who wanted to see him. This is the story of the Hall and the years that Bhagavan lived and taught there.
I plan to add English, French, Spanish, German and Italian subtitles to these talks on Sri Ramana Maharshi. I have English transcripts of the talks. If anyone feels inspired to translate them into other languages, other subtitles can be added as well.

Thank you for all your videos, through which we see Bhagawan, and his Powerful( eyes )and meaningful replies ("Samsara"), his patience, love, care, equality etc., what else we need from a true guru? OM Namshivaya /\ !
Words will fail to describe the majesty of the place and people associated, with Bhagvan being at the helm of the affairs. Very rarely, if ever, one runs into such a soul and the impact he creates. Whitest spot among the white spectrum was aptly described by one western scholar and all that surrounds this greatest of the greatest souls. Many thanks to David Goodman!!
Om Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi 🌻🌹🙏 gracias David... gratitud 🌹... Costa Rica.
Thank you so much David ji for this heart touching sharing.I go into a meditative state watching your videos.I met you outside the Samadhi hall during my last visit and wish to see you again during my next visit.
Great story about the definition of Samsara!
hello commentators, no need to see the difference like westerners, easterners, indians, asians etc. enough of differences. nothing wrong in giving talks inside old hall. iam not good in english bt still able to follow well the david godman's speech. thanx for david godman speech ! i can see that bhagwan is just speaking through his devotees white or black ppl doesnt matter.
thank you so much dear David . Receiving this story of the Hall is such a Joy...And it is so much what I felt while staying in the Hall during the whole day when I Am there...It would be a Joy to meet you there on my next stay begenning of January 2019 Namaste. Jai Baghavan
Love all of Davidji videos and every word that comes out of this mouth (so peacefully narrated). Just ordered "Be as you are" and "Teachings of Ramana Maharishi" can wait to read them. I am so grateful to have found this channel and would love to visit the Ashram one day.
Dear David ji. I was just observing bhagawan picture behind you while you were talking. I felt he is listening and smiling gently at you. Seems like he is acknowledging you. I felt it and here am I sharing with you.
@Jay Ng junior yes true but a positive imagination 😀.
@Jay Ng junior it's a starting way to see things positive. And it's nothing working in it. Imagination and dreams is important to make things in reality.

That’s beautiful. Thanks for sharing:)
Thank you David for your tremendous effort in transmitting facts of Bhagwan’s life to his devotees so beautifully. Your sense of humour places your videos in a class apart.
Avatars bring along special souls to help spread their message in the world. David Godman is one such special soul who has been directed by Bhagawan to perform his bit.

"People come here to get enlightened
but soon after they get here, they forget about enlightenment and get excited by something else.
That is samsara."
@6:50 ....true lesson 😊
👏

the ending of that story about samsara... 😭
I didn't know you had a youtube channel, I had been meaning to buy your books. I think I prefer Adi Shankara's work over Ramana, but he's the close second. Its interesting that you say Ramana was highly sensitive; I've heard the idea from another teacher that some people are born more sensitive when it comes to being able to go into samadhi, this might align with the fact that some people have more reactive nervous systems than others. Adi Shankaracharya's Vivekachudamani describes the state of dreamless sleep as something like brahman or the witness from what I remember, which could make that state seem special in some way; but Ramana's stance which could be construed as saying that dreamless sleep is an imposition or illusion of pure consciousness, seems more helpful in the context of meditative practice, because it takes away any sense of dreamless sleep being more special than dreaming and wakefulness.
David sir , Can you arrange in Telugu language all yours these if possible , it will be better to Telugu people just like me .
11:50 he calls him a "miser"

Sounds like Karunamayi chanting. Red Pat
I can understand why, as a past devotee of Ramana Maharshi, your interests in your college life in England was so antithetical to your spiritual evolutionary trajectory.
How come someone so enlightened was so frail and had no health towards the end of their life?
why the sopright?
advaita should be free
"copyright"" not "sopright".
Excuse the sloppy writing.
It is free, the copyright prevents it from being sold by someone else
Bhagawan said sweating is healthy and did not allow fans to be put on.
That is weird!
How can sweating be healthy. From medical point of view, it is not. You can get dehydrated especially in hot humid weather.
From spiritual point of view, i am not sure.
Sridhar Kaushik : May be that was just an excuse to prevent ashram from getting electricity. Just a pun. He said it jokingly may be.
I think we should not seek spiritual significance in such comments.
From a medical point of view sweating is healthy because it allows the body to remove toxins and impurities that otherwise would harm organs.
Other places agree with Ramana.
The Scandinavians sweat in a steam cabinet, then roll naked in the snow.
Amerindians sit in a sweat lodge as a spiritual activity.
If he says it is healthy, I'm sure it is.
