Talks on Sri Ramana Maharshi: Narrated by David Godman - Natesa Iyer

- In the published tales of ancient Gurus and Masters, it is sometimes mentioned that the best devotees are discovered in obscure, unlikely places such as the kitchen or cowshed. Papaji sometimes told the story of a saint in Maharashtra whose best devotee spent his time shovelling cow dung in the ashram's cowshed. Hui Neng, the Zen Patriarch, had a lowly job in the monastery kitchen before he demonstrated his spiritual worth to his teacher and his community.
Here is a story of Natesa Iyer, one of the lesser-known devotees of Ramana Maharshi, a man who ground down his ego by serving his master in the ashram kitchen and who eventually reached a point where he felt that only his Guru's presence remained.
Dearest David words can not express the joy your stories bring to this heart! .
Got some tears after long time. How can we thank you David
Dear Sri.David Godman,
The devotees of Bhagavan will be grateful to you forever for these videos.Even while watching these videos my mind goes very calm and contended. Thanks a lot.
Dear Godman,
We are all blessed by your work.
What a wonderful story! My son is a cook, and I will show him this movie.:)The advice, which Bhagavan told to the ashram cooks will be his most precious lesson in his lifetime.
"His mind had to be ground down in adverse circumstances"
.....true for many of us
thank you David, with Bhagavan's grace, you are the conduit he uses so we can embrace Bhagavan and all devotees as one in the infinite heart of bliss

Wonderful contribution David Godman ji. Thanks a ton for these videos. They will stand the test of time as a series which reveals the intimate circle of devotees around the Maharshi and offer an unique lively peep into the life and times of the Maharshi.
I read a short story of Natesa Iyer in the face to face with Sri Ramana story, I think he was a bhakta. And the story was so emotional.
Thank you dear David

You have Bhagavan's grace and you are graceful enough to pass it onto this worthless self. Surrendering to the grace of Shri Ramana🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thanks David
Thank you, Mr. David Godman! If Mr. Paul Brunton was my introduction and inspiration to Bhagavan Ramana, your books were my sustenance and nourishment. And when I actually met you, even if briefly and serendipitously, and exchanged a few words in front of the Ramanasranam, I felt happy, thrilled and blessed. Thank you for everything, sir! 🙏 🙏 🙏
very beautiful, thank you
FABULOUS STORYIES very much enjoying. 🧞♂️💤
Great great great .........thanks
David Godman seems to be an Indian yogi in past life born in USA. His pull for spiritual quest had him drawn to Ramana Maharshi..
He's born in England, UK...
Just came across this treasure trove of videos and have devoured nearly all of them. Thank you so much for these beautiful, eloquent stories and explanations. Very grateful for the effort put in to get this to us. 🙏🌷
So precious
Thankyou sir 🙏
Thank you for this series.
THANK YOU...!
Thank you for sharing this video.
I find it interesting the necessity for "grounding down his e-go by serving" his master to the point where he reached a point where he felt that only his Guru's presence remained.
* If you ever read the Bible, in the "New testament", about Jesus who TOTALLY denied himself = "died to himself" and declared that "He was ONE with the Father God", he was IN the Father and The Father was IN him. All his purpose was to do the WILL of him, who sent him to earth, which was to REVEAL the MYSTERY of the Father, who is the One, True living God to Humanity and bring good news.
Thanks again for sharing ...
Thank you David

extremely touching
David Godman, quite the trickster! A beautiful, true unique mixture. Evan´s harrassment, ever a fixture. Who is it that´s got this picture?? Love you Mr. Godman!!! Thanks for allowing your excess anger to be ground down to holy ash!!!
Absolutely gripping and intense, the way the narrative goes. However certain incidents narrated are beyond our common understanding and comprehension. Bhagwan no doubt is a realised soul, unhinged from the worldly bondages, and causation. Something more than mere beliefs and devotion are happening here.
"My rest is in Bhagavan."...
“have I told you about the day I witnessed Bhagavan’s operation” 19:30 beautiful story
hi David your videos are awesome. thanks a lot. I ve one small question. how self inquiry different from deep meditation. Per Vedanta, Dharana - brining the mind to one thing, Dhyana - when the mind becomes steady on the object of concentration, Samadhi - when there is no difference ,you become the object itself. you lost your identity. I think self inquiry and samadhi are same. they both achieve the same thing taking different routes.
You can read 'path of sri ramana' by sadhu om part 1 and 2 and your question will become clear. Meditation is different from self-inquiry and self-inquiry does not need an object.
@David - Can you share the full Ramana Puranam song, please? I love to listen to the little that plays in these videos but can't find the complete song online.

@@LaColinaSagrada Thank you so much! Listening to it now :)
At 18:00 you mention sattwa food,s Sri Ramakrishna mentioned that once one has the sattwa quality one is knocking on the door of samadhi.
In all my years of studying Holy Beings Eckhart Tolle was the only one I can quantify as being in this sattwa samadhi state.

Do.
The doctors killed Bhagavan. He was being treated by an Ayurvedic doctor and the cancer was disappearing. The 'devotees' who were enamored by western medical cancer treatment practices (slash, burn and poison, which is still the same today) insisted that the Ayurveda be stopped and that the butchers be brought in. They did their job of surgical butchery and radiation burning and and that was the end of Bhagavan's body. One can only hope that karma caught up with them in the end.
