The dress turned out fabulous. I am most impressed by your hand-sewing, it's so neat and the tiny stitches are beautiful. My great-grandmother came from Germany and she was a seamstress there for private people and your hand sewing reminds me of her sewing. So precise and accurate. The dress looked beautiful on you and you looked so as usual gorgeous. I can't wait to see your next project.
Aw, that's so fun! And such a sweet memory to have of your great-grandmother! ❤️
Those have to be the most complicated sleeves ever! You did an amazing job! Thanks for demonstrating the English stitch so well in this video.
Incredible work, Bella! Your craftsmanship never ceases to amaze me. Your hands are truly gifted.🥰😍
I am wowed by your industry. The number of hours you put into your outfit are overwhelming to me. I am just starting on my sewing journey. The last thing I made I was still in high school. I just turned 60, and the years between are many. I started with a chemise. I thought it was going well, but then I realized the width of the shoulders are different sizes. The seam ripper is my best friend. Your ensemble is beautiful, and the seams look so professional. l hope you get many years of joy out of it.
Fabulous work, Bella! I do tons of handsewing for my traditional costumes & I can totally relate to the patience & endurance for this type of work! 😓🤗
Can’t wait to finish the video! Just started it and it already seems amazing 💓
I can’t believe you redid all of those pleats!! Pleating was one of the most frustrating things on my last project. But I totally get wanting it to be perfect. Good job with all the hand sewing!!
Bella great work!!! That dress looks lovely!
I’ve learned some new stitches to try out!
Can’t wait to watch it Bella! Yay!
Beautiful work. The dress fits you perfectly. Well done.
Fun coincidence, Nicole Rudolph just made an 18th century dress, and she gave some great tips for fitting sleeves.
Great job!! Fitting 18th century sleeves by yourself is the WORST 😵 But now you have ones that fit, you can just use the measurements to do the initial fit on future projects! That trick made my life a lot easier.
Love that clear explanation of the English stitch! I might try it for my next project!
Aw, yay! Glad it could help! And you should, it's so nice!
Love your videos, the dress is so beautifully made. ❤
Love watching your work!
The dress is beautiful, and it's the hand sewing that caught my eye and made me want to watch the video. You did an excellent job and gave a good explanation of the English stitch.
OUTSTANDING ❣️❣️❣️
I have the American Duchess book and have bought their patterns. I have the fabrics.... in a box for a year now. I usually do children's and baby's heirloom dresses with the smocking and lace. I haven't sewn for myself for 20 or 30 yrs, and it wasn't anything that fitted. Believe it or not, your having to fix, redo and finish it was of great encouragement. Thank you. ❤ Your finished product was worth it all❣️❣️ Be sure to find many occasions to wear it too. You're too young and beautiful not to enjoy it. 💕😉
Thank you for this lovely comment! ❤️
Wow that's stunning! The hand sewing is very impressive and so very well done. As you said practice! Such a Labour of love to make a stunning outfit!
first!!! and im exited to watch the whole thing love it bella
16:18 I love your coral shirt here! It’s super pretty, and looks really good on you!
It's 18th century dress so beautiful day, Bella!!! ❤
Oh sleeves! I so relate to this with wedding gown alterations 🤦♀️ they just never want to go back in properly😆
Ya, sleeves are just no fun!
Yeah, sleeves are my least favorite. You get done with one and then, oh no! You have another one.
@@RosyOutlook17 and making them look the same on both sides🤦♀️
@@luciw8348 Oh my goodness yes! I once put sleeves into a Regency dress backward! I realized after one sleeve what I had done. Oh well! Said I. You can’t tell. And put the other one in the same😂
Wow. Such a good job Bella! I don’t know how you did that much hand sewing and didn’t go crazy! The video shoot at the end was amazing, and I really liked the way the dress looked after all those adjustments:) Plus you looked gorgeous in that hairstyle. Such a good job! Keep at it! And can’t wait to see the next video!
Aw, thank you! It was definitely A LOT!
It is just so freaking pretty, the fabric you picked was the best choice you could’ve done! It’s amazing! The back pleats must be my favorite part hehe 😌🤍
Same! I love the back!
Oh that came out fantastic! :)
Loved watching this series!
So happy to hear that!
This is beautiful!! Thank you so much for sharing, I really enjoyed watching you hand sew.
Aw, yay! Happy to hear that!
Yes!
wonderful!! i'm a hand-sewist because i simply don't own a machine (yet), so i thoroughly enjoyed this series! the mantua maker seam is so fast and easy to sew that i just love it...looking forward to trying the english stitch, too. thank you for all you do! xoxoxoxoxoxo
Aw, fun! Yes, these stitches are so fun!
So beautiful!!❤
How beautiful!!
It turned out beautifully Bella x
Thank you!!
love this dress
I love the beautiful seams that look as good inside the dress as outside the dress. You did a marvelous job and it fits you like a glove.😊❤
Aw, thank you so much! Yes! I love when the inside is as neat as the outside!
@@BellaMaesDesigns Yes, gorgeous.
That’s so pretty!
It's gorgeous! 🎉
Bella….you’re amazing
So pretty! The perfect dress for a picnic. Have you visited Sewsten (spelling likely wrong) or Dame ala mode's channels? They often make dresses from this era.
Yes, they do beautiful work!
Hi! I know you’ve been done with Cinderella for quite some time now, but I would really, REALLY love to see her wedding dress from the live action created, that dress is so dreamy.
It's absolutely gorgeous and it's definitely on the someday list!!
Thanks!
Aw, thank you! ❤️
Wow, the dress turned out beautiful. I hope you gave your wrists a nice long break after all of that hand sewing.
Thank you! Yes, I did!!
Amen to that!
Some you creators got skills
Hi Bella, this particular video of yours plays Picture in Picture even without CZcams premium membership. Do you know what made YT give this video the awesome PiP feature???
すごーーーい!!!!
Is that Mindy from A Girl Of A Different Era?!?!? I love her channel!
Yes! It is!
Oh my word!! That’s soo cool!!
Our skilled and beautiful Georgian heroine can do anything!
Bellissimo👏👏👏💯💯💯
Very beautiful, well done! Just a little info though, the neckline in the front should be a bit lower and just above the top of the stays :)
Thank you. And yes, I do know that, but I'm just not comfortable with low necklines so I chose to keep it higher.
@@BellaMaesDesignsand that is the point of making your own clothes I find. Though picking fabric is my favourite part.
@@BellaMaesDesigns I much appreciate this!
Where in Williamsburg do they sell replica fabric, its been a long time since I have been there.
I've never been there either, I found their online shop and this is the fabric I got: shop.colonialwilliamsburg.com/Fannys-India-Floral-Cotton-Fabric/
👗💜
hard to believe that ALL clothing used to be entirely hand-made. This is so labor intensive and tedious. Congratulations on your patience and attention to detail.
Pretty, too bad about the back miss matching. Oh well as you say.
I'm a little puzzled by the idea of a picnic you have to buy tickets for 🤔
