    It will be a fact in these times of pandemic, the change of modality in regard to individual transport. Having a vehicle like this makes perfect sense today. Very different situation from Carver One, which was launched in the midst of the economic crisis of the early 2000s

    I was seriously thinking about one of these at the 7.5k price i saw on web sites, then I saw 28mph top speed. That would not keep up with traffic and be a danger or nuisance to yourself or others. 50mph would be good. I also wonder how easy the whole machine would tip over on a tight turn and some weight on board? Maybe thats why only 28 max? Pity.

    • @NigelPond
      @NigelPond  Před 4 lety +5

      @@NigelPond I understood they´re trying to make a very scooter like version since its their attempt again to bring the carver into the market.
      But in the long term hopefully, we´ll see more design´s like the Carver on the market from other car companies if the patents are sold at least.
      And we need more minimalist car designs since most people drive their cars alone in a 4 to 5 seated vehicle.

      Limited by Dutch regulation for "Bromfietsen" (Mopeds) to 45 kph. In the Netherlands, it's ok, people drive pretty slow in town, and out of town, you have to drive on (excellent!) bike paths at 40kph... In other countries it might be able to go 60-70kph.

      Interesting thing is, the previous Carver didn’t really fail. The problem was in fact, that they received too many orders. It was never the goal of the company to be a production company. They wanted to develop it, and sell the rights to a mass manufacturer. That never worked out. I think the “big” Carver’s engine was a Daihatsu. Daihatsu was bought by Toyota and they canceled the engine production, leaving Carver in the cold. This time, they are setting up quite a different business model. I hope they take things one step at a time. Seems quite typical for a great idea for a vehicle to not make it because production and growth are not well managed.

    • @TheAegisClaw
      @TheAegisClaw Před 4 lety

      @Gerard Brans we're talking from a British perspective, where 40mph urban roads are quite common and on 30mph roads traffic generally moves at 35mph when it can, being 7mph slower than other traffic would be causing road rage from drivers behind.
