  • Showing how I would mark and drill for under taillight V8 emblems for a 55 Chevy car. Had a subscriber ask for a measurement so I did a video. This is how I do mine.

    Nice tip. That's a good one to know. When I did mine in the late 70s, I could not find any information on it and was not going to buy the body shop manual.
    I went to another 55 at a show and talked to the owner then used a cigarette package as a reference tool since, who carries a tape measure to a car show? It's close now I am going to measure mine and see how close I came. I used my Eye-crometer and yep it looks close.

    Excellent video
    My father’s Bel Air Hardtop did not have the V8 emblems. Do you know if that would mean it wasn’t an original V8 car?

      If the very first letter on the VIN number is a V, it was a V8 car. No V is a 6 cylinder car.

      So it was a Bel Air, Hardtop, with a straight six. Ha!
      I wouldn’t have thought that.
