I thought that Rory Gallagher's beaten up Strat would have been on this list, and Jimi's guitar which he set fire to which ended up in the possession of Frank Zappa.

The real #1 position is Hendrix's black strat. How do you not even mention that? It will always be the most coveted guitar as it wss his last strat and he only had 1 other regular strat.
This list isn't even close to being accurate. There are any number of Gibson guitars with price tags in the tens of thousands of dollars.

Kirks guitars should have stayed with his daughter and family, so some guy with way too much money and lack of brain on what to do with it( help others) shells out millions, for a piece of wood with strings tied to it. If Kirk was alive he would have spit in his face and smashed to pieces.
He may own a piece of history, but is still poor in what's important in life. Kirks life was tragedy, pain and addiction mixed with money. The last thing I think he ever wanted was a ton of money or some guy with millions owning his private gear.
If you watch the unplugged video for Where Did You Sleep Last Night, he said that the Lead Belly estate offered to sell him Lead Belly's guitar for $500,000. Ironically enough, the guitar Kirk was holding while telling that story is the one that would end up being the most expensive guitar.
Also, Courtney did have all his stuff, blame her for selling it all if you need to...
no she didn't there was 20 million missing and unaccounted for and most of his stuff was stolen. Guitars, cloths ect. I don't believe she ever had that guitar in hand. Or the new mustang / jagwire he designed 😢.
