My farher was and still is a deadbeat dad my WHOLE LIFE, but here he go coaching youth football and being a father to a boy thats not even his. He always wants to be praised cus he appears to the outside world as this good role model but little do they know smh. I have friends who are in similar situations with a no show father that mentors other kids. I think it really comes from shame and guilt honestly
when i met my biological dad at 27 (he ended up getting married and adopting two boys), i went to visit him in another state (of which he told his wife about me only the night before). when i got there, i saw multiple newspaper clippings with frames on them on walls where he mentored and coached children.....SMH.
It does. When they cannot take care of home first, their work in the community is out of convenience for them. They haven't changed.

I feel you on that I was A ONLY KID & my dad was never around even though him and his WHOLE FAMILY grew up in my neighborhood. BUT YET HE MARRIED A LADY WITH 4 DAUGHTERS ALREADY AND SHE HAS 2 MORE KIDS WITH HER BUT HE WAS THE BEST DAD TO THEM EVER. But then I realized that he is only in his children's life when he is with their moms. He has several kids after me and 4 baby mothers. He is only present in each set of kids life UNTIL he moves on from their mothers and has kids with the next girlfriend. Its a sad weird cycle

I’m going through the same thing with the father of my kids. He only tries to come around on my kids birthdays or holidays. I don’t get financial help from him cause he never has any but has money for other things. All men who do this need to step up and start being there for their kids!
