I'm into the ultimate universe cause incest is bad ass
Wow your my favorite youtuber.
Fucking make ultimate spider man vol 4 if not I'll splatter into more pieces than gwen Stacys neck (Im joking)
Only in japan
Tbf that was a different writer
This is not a hentai.
Read that in Danny DeVito's voice XD
Mark Millar writes like an 8th grade boy trying very hard to impress his crush by being more hardcore than the other boys.
He's trying to figure out exactly how to make a sphere of nothing but edge.
Yeah exactly
and it works. Too well. He gets every girl in school swooning over him.
I mean he still got pretty good stories, like superman red son, old man logan and jupiter legacy.
@@vxicepickxva sphere can be made of infinite edge.
Even with all this book's failings, for what its worth as a non-comic reader Wolverine being a black-ops assassin and getting sent to kill Prof X is actually a really neat and interesting setup for integrating him into the team.
The X-Men have had some former villains in their ranks in the main universe as well, including Wolverine, even if his period as a villain was brief.
@@dragonstormxsame for Magneto, Sabretooth and Mystique
@@abrahammesrajecorrea2349 And there was Juggernaut.
thats the thing about Millar, he has very good (stolen from Grant Morrison) concepts entry points and elevator pitches.. but f*** all else, he can't write a likeable character to save his life.. everyone's overly edgy for no reason or a snarky oneliner generator and woefully shallow
interestingly enough, this same set up was done in the main universe, wayy back in the late 70s
I liked the Ultimate Universe in the beginning. Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Fantastic Four, especially. Over time, that changed. The books got darker and more depressing. Ultimatum was the breaking point. That whole event was just an exercise in pointlessness and cruelty. After that, I stuck to the 616.
Yeah most of the good stuff from the ultimate universe like miles were incorporated into the 616 Universe anyway
well i mean after that it kinda died off anyway so you didn’t miss much
@@themangoman9315nobody cares about Miles and the sales prove it.
@@DrakonRIt could be because he’s been getting rando new powers. Or just because the spiderverse movies and the video games write him way better🤔
Ultimate X-Men is basically what happens when someone who hasn't read X-Men is tasked to write X-Men
That's because it was
@@themangoman9315 seriously mark just only watched the movies not fucking joking
That's literally what happened.
That Ultimate Avengers movie made me think the Ultimate Universe was chill😂
Millar has said he had read only a handful of X-Men comics at the time and based most of the book on the movies. So stupid that they gave him this title. I hate UXM. Ultimates 1 and 2 are so great because Millar actually knew and cared about those characters.
16:12 look at the pain in Cap's face as he tries to comprehend what he just heard. Poor man.
His speech bubble says "But...", but it should really say *"What."*
Isn't he racist in this universe or something
@@xande5345 depending on how ignorant or edgy the writers are, yeah sadly
@@xande5345Cap went damn Munties with their weird fetishes
ULT CAP:Jesus the Nazis woj didn't they?
Reading Millar's old work is such a mind fuck because I genuinely really like his more recent work. "Starlight" and "Huck" are so wholesome it's shocking he wrote them. Apparently watching Man of Steel and BvS made him do a 180° because Superman is the only character sacred to him, and he thought "who the fuck are these films for....oh right, MY fans. Dear God, what have I contributed to"
The irony there is that none of his DC works actually contribute to the edginess of the DCEU. Hell Superman Red Son was like the only geniuenely good thing he have done with established characters.
Most of his actual contributions for Marvel were used in the MCU films, but only the non-edgy stuff made it
When I was a kid, I knew Millar from doing a good job on DCs kids books. It was a huge WTF when I started reading his Ultimate books, etc.
I remembered Millar's X-Men being edgy just from the Wolverine/Jean stuff but this feels a lot dumber as an adult.
Snyder's stuff is NOWHERE near as edgy as Millar
I like the Ultimate Universe because Professor X got thrown down a set of stairs
When did that happen.
@@mikeval1525 ultimate X-men #49 funniest shit I ever seen bruh
You mean biden, I mean the memes are great
You ripping into UXM is probably the best thing about how ridiculous and over the top edgy UXM is. Honestly, I'd love to see you tear this whole series a new one. As far as why the ridiculously tight leather costumes I assume it's another jab at Grant Morrison who I believe was writing New X-Men around this time and another duel at "The Greatest Scottish Comic Writer" thing they had going on.
Weirdly enough Millar was never familiar with the X-Men books and took inspiration and info from the Bryan Singer film.
Impreasive how (somewhat) on point he was on the premise.
@@RBComics yeah that Wolverine and Jean Grey relationship is pretty on par for Singer
@@AwesomenessImpolsion Oh yeah it explains so much.
If he knew nothing about them why allow him to write Ultimate X-Men that defeats the purpose
@@TheMasterQuests maybe for new perspective, I mean the ultimate universe was to modernize and new approaches to iconic characters, so having someone new x-men itself kinda worked with how successful it was.
I enjoy the Ultimate Universe because it was a product of it's time. It truly represented that early 2000's era with Marvel Characters. Ultimate Spider-Man is a classic, also never forget the video game, The Ultimates is a huge guilty pleasure of mine, specifically because of the two Ultimate Avengers animated movies. Ultimate Fantastic Four and X-Men were pretty similar in terms of quality. Ultimate Iron Man was... Eh, pretty garbage although it was funny because it tried so hard to be different. Yes, some of the decisions that was made in Ultimates and X-Men were very... Questionable. But hey it was different time. A very, very different and experimental time...
Ultimates was just trash
Exactly but I still enjoy everything about it
@@giosbizarreart9048 personally one of my favorite books but to each their own.
@@giosbizarreart9048 I mean if you were a kid in that time period you probably would have liked it. I don't know how old you are but you were probably fortunate enough to have been the right age at the right time to enjoy better xmen comics. Good for you. Its not too bad for nostalgia or art work.
It was all garbage besides Spiderman
In 2005 and 2006 they pushed it really hard but it was specifically The Ultimate Avengers movie and the Ultimate Spider-Man Video Game that made me want to read more and for a while I enjoyed it, up until I really saw what was wrong with it and then enjoyed other adaptations and more 616 stuff in a whole new light.
Both of those are far better than their inspirations
Lol the original Millar issues is some of my favorite X-Men ever written. I get it though. I still love it.
I swear Mark Millar flips a coin to decide if he’s going to write an absolute masterpiece or the worst thing you’ve ever read.
Ultimate x-men was a unique take on these characters. The main marvel universe reboots/relauches/retcon too much to keep track of in the long run, for me. Cool video.
steve johnson reboots are more dc style but with marvel everything still happens and their continuity is still intacted but yeah sometimes it gets confusing
Unquie= dumbed down and edgy
Marvel only soft reboots
Unique doesn't equal good
X men in the main continuity was weird. Like where to start. I mean why american comics can't just name their stories such that people can understand. I mean can't they just emulated manga on the naming aspect. Like if I wanted to start one piece, I would start on chapter 1 but in X men and spiderman or daredevil, etc which number 1, which amazing spiderman, which x men. It's just frustrating.
Wow. I'm really liking these Ultimate Marvel videos. I really hope to see more especially Ultimate Iron Man, Ultimate Spider-Man and the Ultimates.
“And that assassin is…” RYAN REYNOLDS
I GOT THAT DUMBASS AD THE PERFECT TIME
Please, I know you hate this line, we all do. But just cause I need some laughs, please do summaries of the entire ultimate x-men line. I love this!!
Ultimate X-Men 1 was the first X-Men comic I ever read because it was at the public library when I was 7. I never really thought about how bad it was until now
Please have a seat... oh I see you already have
😂
Man this was fucking edgy. I remember loving this but by volume 3 I got tired of it all lol.
I like the ultimate Universe because it reminds me of The Boys except it takes itself way too seriously even when the characters do the worst things
My first volume of UXM I read was vol10. That was pretty great with Gambit and the Fenris Twins.
Don’t know if you’ve heard of it but I think you might have fun with the ridiculously over the top violence of the indi comic Bedlam. Great video as usual, thank you!
It must be a Scottish thing but this version of the X-Men really mirrors that analog from the boys, G-Men which still haunts me to this day when they killed those children.
Like what the fuck is wrong with these people.
The early 2000’s was full of edginess. Definitely trying to mimic the grit of the 80s but came off as try hard and anxious!😂
This was TRUELY the ultimate book for 15 year old virgins. Which isn't even a bad thing really because im sure it moved magazine copies in the early 2000's.
But i can observe who the target audience was, and commentary from an adult like this is hilarious.
In the first volume, how old are the characters are supposed to be even storm ? She looks like to have between 17-19 in the fact that the ultimate shows younger versions of the characters.
All founding x-men were 18-20 years old because beast was able to be in a bar, while iceman is 15-16 years old because his powers just activated.
So basically Wolverine smashed a underage Jean Grey??
@@spideyguy3315 Jean is 18-19 years old so she is not underage. But I understand if you don’t like it. I prefer marvel girl with cyclops anyway.
@@mikeval1525 So u like it then?

I grew up reading Ultimate Spider-Man, for the most part that was the only Ultimate Comics book I read until the Rebrand in 2011. At that point I read Ultimates by Hickman and X-man during the Divided we Fall Event. In recent years I’ve read a couple books that came out before the 2011 rebrand. Such as Ultimatum, Ultimate Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Captain America and Ultimate X.
A few things to say: I checked this out and looked into it. Thought it seemed good. Also do i ever expect to see you do a Take on more Elseworld and Possible Venom?
Definitely want to do more Elseworlds stories. I've never had much interest in Venom, but I'd like to cover Venom: The Hunger.
The “stupid cripple” line got me XD
Nice work 💯🔥
Your commentary is so phenomenal, like I really really enjoy all the little cuts especially the wolverine part and how you hate all the sexual innuendos hahaha you're hilarious man, this version is such a creep lol
This is hilarious. Please continue doing this

18:49 "Get out of my head you stupid cripple!" 😭
Im not from North America, but i grew up with the X-men TV show in the 90s, however we never had any X-men comicbooks in my country back then.
So when 00s arrived and Ultimate X-men started to appear in newspaper kiosks and stores i was so excite to finally see my favorite characters in the actual "real comic books drawn by comicbook artists!!".
I was so disappointed. I hated everything about them - how they were drawn (i wanted to see classic comicbooks with cool inking and coloring but i got this glossy-ish stuff with weird body proportions and strange outfits, also many times artist used to draw their faces in a weird manner (like that Cyclops looking up in one of panels (also that HILARIOUSLY awful Storm face at 11:50 haha)) and how ...not very good stories were.
I still have all those Ultimate X-men issues from the 00s because even if i disliked them - it was the only way to see more stuff about x-men. (thankfully X-men Evolution tv show was on the air in the 00s so i had the good part of x-men at that moment)
PS:
I'm also a fan of Beast and i didn't like that in early Ultimate x-men Hank is some stupid huge semi-naked biker-looking human with big gross feet... He was so great in the 90s Tv-show...
I always took the incest thing as a jab at the 616, how it's heavily implied a lot of times that QS is in love with his sister.
Wait what
Look at storm face here 11:50 she is REALLY pissed
Funny enough, when I was reading ultimate X-Men I was trying to determine when Colossus would come out, and as a result I totally overlooked all of the misogyny in this comic. It's your reading of it that did it for me 😅
Didnt Prof X admit he was “in love” with Jean Grey in the main universe, from spending so much time with her?
He did during Stan lee era before Claremont streamlined their characterization
I actually love it , cool new instruction to the mutants
More like Professor Triple X lmao 😂
Of the XXX-men
Love the FilmBrain reference!
This is the worst disrespect Cyclops has ever gotten. Scott just stands there and watches as Wolverine makes out with his girl does nothing and leave like a little b#tch.
I'm into the Ultimate Universe because I'm not. Fucking despise the Ultimate Universe.
That's a b2 bomber, not a blackbird
Woo boy now u gotta do vol 2
This is straight up character assassination. Cyclops would never ever betray the X men. There not just his teammates, there his friends and family and he would never betray them.
Got my snacks and drinks let's watch
I grew up around the time the ultimate universe was made and I remember seeing the animated movies and the Spider-Man comics so it was kinda big on my childhood
i read that arc a few years ago and i didn't remember that story to be fucking insane
Requests: 1: batman: nosfuratu 2: marvel 1602 3 and read more iron man, also do marvel mangaverse
I actually liked ultimate X-men up to about vol 6
This was my first tpb and I read that thing into pieces. Edgy but nostalgic
I love the ultimate universe because it’s what I grew up reading as a kid.
Why did they make wolverine a pedophile?
Because Mark is actually one himself.
Bro, I think I got shadow banned. I missed a bunch of your videos. All good. I'ma watch em now 😁
I think as a whole it isnt that good, but alot of ideas the ultimate universe had was cool. The initial idea of people not knowing if thor was just some crazy nutjob or actually thor was fun, Mr Fantastic becoming an evil super genius was pretty neat, and I personally liked the aftermath of ultimatum for the xmen, where kitty pryde is the leader of the xmen. It really leaned into the Days of Future Past thing really well. So much potential gone to waste.
I come here to remind myself how insane these people were
Even if its bad seeing an alternate take on things is neat.
I love this version
The ultimate Spider-man series,
and ultimate Avengers are the two favorites of mine growing up. Captain America was great and Spider-man will always be my favorite.
The early 2000s was a weird time in marvels history
I mean without the Ultimate Imprint, most if not all Marvel movies since 2002 wouldn’t exist.
i've read these comics a few months ago and it saddens me what they did to these characters, especially nightcrawler.
I'm a year late but I'm a huge fan of Marvel zombies and they and the Ultimate Fantastic 4 are in it so I slowly got more interested in the Ultimate universe.

PBBT! WHAT?!
Did she really just face plant and knock herself out?! 😆 🤣 😂
I love Ultimate Spider-Man and I enjoy Ultimate Fantastic Four (still better than Fant4stic)
Haven’t read much of everything else
Highly debatable. Fantastic Four may be boring af, but the Ultimate versions actively pissed me off
The ice covers his suit.
The overall plot wasn't too bad, the main issue is Mark Millar's trademark pointless darkness. Jean cheats on Wolverine who is basically committing statutory rape, and we have that other pointless sexual content.
I wish you had continued the what is ultimate Spider-Man series videos
Why is Wolverine such a pervert??? Who wrote this??
(Googles)
Yeah… checks out.
This video was entertaining also I can't believe that marvel let some of these ideas happen
id kill for you to read the 90s reboot of avengers "heroes reborn"
a bit of the problems you had here could be applied there
I love the Ultimate Universe because it's very funny (and Spider Man).
I personally like the outfits. 616 costumes reminds of candy wrappers.
They're more intresting than skin tight lether fetish
I cant see the 616 outfits as anything else now

I just love the Ultimate universe. Flaws and all, except for ultimatum, that was just awful.
Was that it? The Ultimate Universe was just fanfiction and fetishes?
Pretty much.
Nah Ultimate Spidey was cool
Magneto just straight up ROLA-ROLADA'd those gunmen
The only reason I read it is for a back to basic Spider-Man story that’s not connected to everything else
Sigma Wolverine
I actually liked ultimate x men once it got rolling. It was awkward in how it handled some elements, but it hit at the right time for what it was doing.
Ultimate X-Men: they’re just like the regular X-Men, but everyone is a sarcastic asshole ALL THE TIME.
You should continue with Transmetropolitan
It’s obvious his clothes turbines to ice.
Say what you want about other costumes, but magneto's here is freaking perfect for his first villain outing. Can you imagine seeing THAT SUIT in the final scene in days of future past instead of the trash one we got.
I like the ultimate X-Men...costumes in X-Men Legends
Honestly I just wanna see what I skipped out on
I wonder Why the U.S didn’t use the Sentinels against the Chatari?
Can you cover more ultimate spider-man
Who only looked this up because they have the comics themselves
The ultimate series is the reason I read comics.
can you please do another ultimate x-men volume?
Professor X was secretly in love with Jean within literally the first 5 issues of the original Stan Lee comic so don't blame that on Mark Millar.
The logic of the sentinels in this story is so dumb. Completely ignoring the intro, here's no way people would start attacking the X-Men after GIANT ROBOTS just attacked and destroyed a bus that was at one point full of people. The amount of property damage too!
I enjoyed it, but there is NO denying that there are dome glaring issues. I think worls decently as an origin. But some this shig in this comic is pretty wack
Cyclops looking at them kissing 😂😂😂😂😂
