    In Italy Luton is very well known, since in '80 years it was most selled club in popular Subbuteo game: i think it represents for Italian fans the english soul: small industrial town, old stadium, nice colors, nice name, hatters, unbelievable history of glory and sufference: definitively the english soccer soul

    If I recall, Luton were given a 'bonus point' deduction for going bust twice in the space of a few years. But what Luton did back then is nothing compared to the Prem League clubs do today(Man City faced with 115 FA charges so far) but the FA turn a blind eye to it. Fans will never forget our final season in the league, winning the Football League Trophy and big Mick holding it right under the noses of the sweaty FA slobs. Luton were also the first club to win that trophy and not be able to defend due to the relegation.
    Despite the snake, It proves that under the leadership of Gary Sweet and the board, big Mick and the staff behind the scenes together with the hard work and foundations put in place by Sir John Still, the recruitment and structure has been excellent and any manager would inherit good building blocks. Change those at your peril (ask Graham Jones!) Rob has come in and has proven to be an excellent choice - he talks football and has a tactical brain, something the snake lacks.
    I am so proud of the club, the fans and the players - no football has had so much drama in a short space of time and I don't have any nails to bite for the final either. Love the video and COYH!

      Luton also lifted the lid on what was going on at all clubs and as part of that admitted that yes they had done it themselves but strangely picked up the largest punishment.......and almost survived despite the -30pts!!! its been a real rollercoaster but hopefully all going well we'll be back in the top flight next season completing 1 of the most dramatic come back stories ever written......just shows you don't need millions and billionaire owners but a stable board that knows what their doing and puts the fans 1st can do.....Club is so well run and thats the secret behind the success.

    I used to watch Luton in the late 70's and always expected Luton Town to get back into to the premier league one day even when they went into the non-legue . I think most Luton fans did ! That's been the thinking at the club !

    Great video, just a couple of minor points
    1. You said in the late 90s Luton were relegated from The Premier League to the Championship equivalent. We actually have never been in the Prem. Got relegated from the Old first division in '92 season before the PL was formed.
    2. You mentioned Nathan Jones was pinched by Stoke midway through our first Championship season, when he actually left when we were top of L1 in the previous season.

    • @trevorgiddings3053
      @trevorgiddings3053 Před rokem

      Both your points are correct and Mick Hartford saw us through to promotion to the Championship. Bryan Jones was appointed before the start of our first season in the Championship and left by ‘Mutual consent’ and after being sacked by Stoke Nathan came back for the last nine games and got us out of the relegation spots on the last game.He took us to the play offs the next season but jumped ship AGAIN the following season to go to Southampton because he wanted to manage a Premiership team. We got Rob and now we are in the Premiership and Nathan is in the championship with Cardiff so that worked out well for him.

    First Brentford and now Luton, good job to both clubs with their moneyball tactics and keen scouts. These clubs are breaking the money stigma surrounding Man City and others that money is not always necessary to make dreams come true. Even Heidenheim over in 2 Bundesliga is doing similarly well as Luton, has similar trajectory to Union Berlin in my opinion. Look at Lens in Ligue 1 as well. Those five clubs have amazed me with their small budgets and still making livid dreams come true.
