I don't get how that works. If EA left, who is producing and publishing the game? Dice is a developer, they wouldn't be able to do this if they weren't given the free reign to do so.
Great re-review. I'm glad you did it. It was a mature thing to do. When they fuck up, let them know. When they do well, the very same. But as you said always hold them to account. This tarnished their reputation amongst other things. And it is still tarnished. But look at the genuine enjoyment they can bring by being ethical in their choices.

This game is awesome. Paid $5.99 for it back in June 2019 and just got the Celebration Upgrade for $12.49. I really didn't play it much from June 2019 - December 2019. When I heard it changed I hopped back on and I can't really put it down. Finally something that ISN'T OVERWATCH - which I've been playing since launch.

It’s not at all EA that has changed this game, it’s all the hard working devs at DICE. They have given the community nothing but love, adding EXACTLY what we’ve asked for. EA didn’t do shit guys. They never listened, they never cared, they moved on. DICE on the other hand, fixed the game. They added 6 heroes (will be 8 in a few weeks), fixed a shitload of bugs, added new maps, improved the AI drastically, added new game modes, added tons of reinforcements. Plus, every bit of content is and have always been free. This game isn’t just worth it, it’s a must buy
Back when games were actually good, I could play that game and the original Battlfront day in day out and never get bored, nowadays I play a single player game for a couple of hours and then never play it again because it's crap from the get go.

EA doesn't deserve anything. They had the loot boxes put into the game in the first place. For a while before the game began gaining more popularity I can guarantee you that EA only allowed DICE to keep development of the game going to keep their own asses safe. Why the hell would I thank EA for something that they themselves wanted in the damn game, wait until their next big release comes and they pull some other greedy trick.
So, after watching this, I decided to give it a try. Especially when I saw it on sale for $11.99 on Origin. Sucks you have to make a fucking EA account, but whatever. The game crashed over and over until i deleted some temp files, verified game files, turned down shadow effects, turned off DX12 and ran as administrator. Now it seems to be working and is a lot of fun.
Yes it's absolutely worth a buy now. I am a Star Wars fan but I do hate multiplayer games, so the fact I love this game speaks volumes. Although I wasn't burned back on release... I picked it up this past Thanksgiving & as of now it's quite amazing & has NO micro transactions b/c the community put 'em back in line.

Honestly the OG Battlefront is worse than Battlefront 2(2017) just for the technical reasons( graphics, animation, variety , sound). People only remember the good things about the Original 2005 version but it lacks on so many levels compared to the new game. Every hero has the same animation and very abilities. There is no real progression system either, no customization and it lacks the amount of reinforcments that the new game has by now. Every Blaster feels pretty much the same, no modification that you can attack and the maps are either very small or too big and feel very empty.
Bethesda, how the mighty have fallen. When they made oblivion, Skyrim, fallout3 and 4 they couldn't do anything wrong. It all seemed to be 9 out of 10. Now it's all re ports and fallout 76...
Im pretty sure it was Disney who told them to back off or lose the rights to the game. Disney likes there rep to be clean and they hold the rights to Star Wars, the last thing they wanted was upset customers talking shit about star wars as they are working on the movie franchise.
Yeah, im pretty sure it was Disney too, I think they weren't happy with how EA had managed their IP. With cancelled games and Intense monitazition, the mouse had to be afraid that it would hurt the franchise on the long wrong. That an DICE had to be a "little" embarrassed on how it all turned out, so it feels like a redemption mission imo. That being said, BF5 is still a burning mess, so there's that lol.
Really uncomfortable with EA getting one iota of credit or praise for this. They've clearly backed off the SW franchise due to a combination of fanbase and Disney backlash, leaving DICE alone to create actual gameplay worth a damn. Basically all they did was withdraw their greedy mitts from this ONE franchise. I'm back to playing as well, and thrilled to have two enjoyable Star wars games to play this year... but you won't catch me giving EA the benefit of the doubt. They're a scourge on the gaming industry and should be shunned.
The thing that upsets me most about this game is people are now saying it's playable and enjoyable because Pay to Win is gone. Pay to win has been gone since BEFORE THE GAME RELEASED! They took this stuff out right after the beta ended, before the full game even came out. The game has been on a steady upwards trend since launch, but ignorance is bliss I suppose.
Just got this after this review. Yep... it's worth a buy. Been playing alot today and its epic. Lots of options, lots of game modes and you can play against AI. Brilliant. Thanks Mack!
While i hate EA, this is a good deed on their half. Battlefield V is also in a better state now. Its good that they try to improve... but still lame how they have to go thru all of this. Is it too hard to have a good game on day 1. Full of content and modes.
It's not that honorable. They put them in for the first few months when it's big and everyone playing it. They get all that revenue from the loot crates etc Then they move on to their next loot crate ridden game and remove them from the old games so we can all applaud them for being good
My personal Short list of improvements I’d like to see in the game: -Firstly please give Lord Vader a Revenge of the Sith skin as the Hooded Yellow Sith eyed Anakin, who executed Order 66 at the Jedi Temple. -FULL HUD CUSTOMIZATION. I wanna be able to take everything off my screen except my crosshairs, Weapon cool states, and Objective and Squad mate silhouettes. -Allow certain Blaster Heroes (Lando, Bossk, Finn, Iden) to have a star card that gives them damage reduction against Lightsaber users. Mainly for Heroes vs Villains game mode, because once a decent saber user gets close, you’re pretty much wiped. -Later in the year, possibly closer to Season 2 release, add Mando as a Lightside hero. They need a jet pack user to kinda shake things up and add more variety to light side heroes. -OH and please add Cross-play. I feel that would help out the community quite a bit if we can all play together. It would definitely help out with matchmaking (not that the matchmaking is bad or anything, but Heroes vs Villains would have far more players, because I constantly run into the same players every few games.) -also maybe add a 8v8 Heroes vs Villains game mode to make matches a bit quicker and more action packed. I often find myself spawning on the other side of the planet and I have to run forever before I get to the action.

It was great until they ruined the game with the new TTK update and gimped the gunplay, they removed most recoil from all the weapons making it feel extremely easy and lackluster in my opinion, I really hope they reconsider the changes to appease the players who don't even play the game, pre patch I thought it was phenomenal.
The only "Battlefront 2" anyone should be buying is the original one. This one, despite the damage control, is still a turd and a pretender to the throne.

Good luck with BF5, I just stopped playing it after the most recent patch. It crashed to desktop either every time I loaded it, or within several minutes of starting a game. Pissed me the f**k off.
Oh god don’t do BattlefieldV. It’s just gotten a patch that makes the guns feel like nerf guns. Review it after the break cuz it’s shit at the moment. It does have a bunch of new maps that are a bunch of fun to play, the gunplay has just gotten a lot worse which kinda sucks.
I hope the next Battlefield might be as good as this Battlefront 2 is now as it now comes with single player instant action, i hope the next BF has that with bots as sometimes you just want to play alone.

I would love to play a Star Wars FPS game where you could pick a faction based on your favorite playstyle (but still gives you freedom of play, not forcing you to play in a way just because that faction favors it). For instance, a Rebel faction would favor defensive tactics while the Empire would focus on head-on assaults. A third faction could be one of mercenaries, which would favor a more furtive approach. I do not know, but it would be awesome to see a mercenary faction in Battlefront, with new Bounty Hunter heroes, weapons, vehicles and ships.
what's really exciting about this game is the amount of content in star wars that they can still put into this game. The beautiful thing about star wars is how expansive it is, and DICE has a massive repository to pull from should they need to put new stuff in this game. Especially with the renewed interest in BF2, you'll be seeing this game still a thriving platform in the years to come.
So glad that this was fixed the old battlefronts were where it was at. So glad that they have learnt from that particular game. Well done Mack! Your the man! Love the channel love your content and love the absolute truth :-D

They have no marketing budget, they have, and it hurts to say this, little idea how to make sure their game actually makes enough money to keep the studio(s) afloat after the game gets released. Gamers love to hate on Epic, but honestly they're the best thing that's happened to indie game studios in the past couple of years: the few lucky indie devs that get picked up by Epic can focus entirely on their game without having to worry about selling copies of the game, marketing, or really any other major business issues. The gaming industry is not in "dissaray". Publishers are realising that they can force greedy decisions, like microtransactions, without any blame being directed towards themselves. Either the devs get the blame, or the consumer doesn't care enough to make a big deal. If anything the gaming industry is stuck in an extremely formulaic loop. 3. I don't think you know what "start a company" means. Do you even know how you do that? To become a publisher you need lots of money so you can invest, and a team that can manage that money, and lawyers. If you are a developer, either you're Indie, in which case the market is flooded with hundreds of devs exactly like you. If you are a small studio, then you need loads of money or interest from Publishers. 4 AAA games are not made by SJWs or spread SJW propaganda as you desperately want to believe. The publishers know that they can sell to a wider audience, and be labeled as "brave" or "progressive" for literally no risk. If anything, anyone that is actually an "SJW" would be upset by these fake attempts just to sell more copies, since they do more harm than good to any serious movement. Are you upset that the game has a lazy and forced "girl power" theme? The feminists do too congrats. 5. There is no real growing demand. As the gaming industry becomes overpopulated, the *average* consumer will still only have time to buy and play 5-7 games a year. Each game these days advertises at least a 16 hour experience, if not more, and most people buy at least one multiplayer game they may invest hundreds of hours in. There is no room for most people to experiment, or play multiples of the same genre of game to find out which is better.

I watched your first review and steered clear and then I saw it was on sale for $5 a few months ago and I purchased it, glad I did, this came is almost becoming what it should've been from the beginning.
ALL I WANTED WAS BOT MATCHES. The old one was endlessly replayable. I think it's what made battlefront popular in the first place was being able to take part in a massive star wars battle as one of the regular troops. The heroes idea is neat or whatever but the appeal was never about people running around in circles call of duty style shooting each other in the back.

SW Battlefront in 2005. So as far as you remember BF2 was released over 10 years after BF1. I have never played those games and as I recall they were released 2-3 years apart.
I loaded up "Suicide Express" on the Commodore 64 back in the day and i knew that the only way to make money was from the sale of that game only. This is why a lot of games nowadays tend to be shit because the opportunities to make money hand over fist is developers main priority and in reality there should be no reason for so many patches. If they could only make money from the game itself, then you can bet your bottom dollar that the game would be right on day one.
My brother got this for xmas when it came out and i'm so excited to come back to it and try it now. I loved the OG battlefront 2 so i'm kinda giddy because visually and audio wise its sooooo good and now that gameplay is good too I'm super pumped!
Just like you gave it another chance, will you give Dark souls series another try. And after sekiro winning goty there is no reason to not give them another try. Start with Dark souls 3 as it is the most new comer friendly and best in the series.
I doubt it, he's played all 3 of the DS games and he hated all of them, I Love them personally but never Played Sekiro, Still not sure what to think of it as iv heard it plays nothing like Dark Souls.
Not forgetting. I picked up ea access for 1 pound this month. And avoided this game when it first came out. I played for about 6 hours in the last week and it's fantastic. And it's on the list of access games you can play. This along with bf5 which is also in a good place now. All the old school 1942 Battlefield maps are on there and they are so much fun.

You have no idea how perfect this upload is. A couple days ago I was looking at this game and it's redemption story. I am waiting for it to go on sale this Christmas :)

To those that are saying dont thank EA thank Dice yes dice has done an amazing job and most of the work and deserves praise but it is EA that allows them to keep developing and it is EA who allowed the removal of lootboxes and pay2win. Thank both.
EA doesn't deserve anything. They had the loot boxes put into the game in the first place. For a while before the game began gaining more popularity I can guarantee you that EA only allowed DICE to keep development of the game going to keep their own asses safe. EA deserves absolutely no appreciation or thanks for the clusterfuck of a launch this game had. It is only DICE who should be getting all of it because they have spent day after day putting their hearts and soul into the game using the scraps the EA would give them

You can get this game for $10 or even less sometimes when on sale from time to time. So worth it.
Game is amazing now, l9ve the Clone wars content mainly and co-op is so fun.

So, after watching this, I decided to give it a try. Especially when I saw it on sale for $11.99 on Origin. Sucks you have to make a fucking EA account, but whatever. The game crashed over and over until i deleted some temp files, verified game files, turned down shadow effects, turned off DX12 and ran as administrator. Now it seems to be working and is a lot of fun.
Yes it's absolutely worth a buy now. I am a Star Wars fan but I do hate multiplayer games, so the fact I love this game speaks volumes. Although I wasn't burned back on release... I picked it up this past Thanksgiving & as of now it's quite amazing & has NO micro transactions b/c the community put 'em back in line.

Honestly the OG Battlefront is worse than Battlefront 2(2017) just for the technical reasons( graphics, animation, variety , sound).
People only remember the good things about the Original 2005 version but it lacks on so many levels compared to the new game.
Every hero has the same animation and very abilities. There is no real progression system either, no customization and it lacks the amount of reinforcments that the new game has by now.
Every Blaster feels pretty much the same, no modification that you can attack and the maps are either very small or too big and feel very empty.

Im pretty sure it was Disney who told them to back off or lose the rights to the game. Disney likes there rep to be clean and they hold the rights to Star Wars, the last thing they wanted was upset customers talking shit about star wars as they are working on the movie franchise.
Yeah, im pretty sure it was Disney too, I think they weren't happy with how EA had managed their IP. With cancelled games and Intense monitazition, the mouse had to be afraid that it would hurt the franchise on the long wrong. That an DICE had to be a "little" embarrassed on how it all turned out, so it feels like a redemption mission imo. That being said, BF5 is still a burning mess, so there's that lol.

Really uncomfortable with EA getting one iota of credit or praise for this. They've clearly backed off the SW franchise due to a combination of fanbase and Disney backlash, leaving DICE alone to create actual gameplay worth a damn. Basically all they did was withdraw their greedy mitts from this ONE franchise. I'm back to playing as well, and thrilled to have two enjoyable Star wars games to play this year... but you won't catch me giving EA the benefit of the doubt. They're a scourge on the gaming industry and should be shunned.

The thing that upsets me most about this game is people are now saying it's playable and enjoyable because Pay to Win is gone.
Pay to win has been gone since BEFORE THE GAME RELEASED! They took this stuff out right after the beta ended, before the full game even came out. The game has been on a steady upwards trend since launch, but ignorance is bliss I suppose.
Just got this after this review. Yep... it's worth a buy. Been playing alot today and its epic. Lots of options, lots of game modes and you can play against AI. Brilliant. Thanks Mack!
While i hate EA, this is a good deed on their half. Battlefield V is also in a better state now. Its good that they try to improve... but still lame how they have to go thru all of this. Is it too hard to have a good game on day 1. Full of content and modes.

They put them in for the first few months when it's big and everyone playing it.

Then they move on to their next loot crate ridden game and remove them from the old games so we can all applaud them for being good

I don't know about BF5, that 5.2 update Dice released has tarnished the excellent faith fans had for DICE.

My personal Short list of improvements I’d like to see in the game:
-Firstly please give Lord Vader a Revenge of the Sith skin as the Hooded Yellow Sith eyed Anakin, who executed Order 66 at the Jedi Temple.
-FULL HUD CUSTOMIZATION. I wanna be able to take everything off my screen except my crosshairs, Weapon cool states, and Objective and Squad mate silhouettes.
-Allow certain Blaster Heroes (Lando, Bossk, Finn, Iden) to have a star card that gives them damage reduction against Lightsaber users. Mainly for Heroes vs Villains game mode, because once a decent saber user gets close, you’re pretty much wiped.
-Later in the year, possibly closer to Season 2 release, add Mando as a Lightside hero. They need a jet pack user to kinda shake things up and add more variety to light side heroes.
-OH and please add Cross-play. I feel that would help out the community quite a bit if we can all play together. It would definitely help out with matchmaking (not that the matchmaking is bad or anything, but Heroes vs Villains would have far more players, because I constantly run into the same players every few games.)
-also maybe add a 8v8 Heroes vs Villains game mode to make matches a bit quicker and more action packed. I often find myself spawning on the other side of the planet and I have to run forever before I get to the action.
Somehow your opinion about games is just like mine. I am as critical as you are and am not quickly satisfied with a game. You know what games should be like and these days most games only look good and that's it. And I know a lot of people see you as a true and honest reviewer of games that they can rely on and consider if they should or should not buy a game. It was great until they ruined the game with the new TTK update and gimped the gunplay, they removed most recoil from all the weapons making it feel extremely easy and lackluster in my opinion, I really hope they reconsider the changes to appease the players who don't even play the game, pre patch I thought it was phenomenal.
The only "Battlefront 2" anyone should be buying is the original one. This one, despite the damage control, is still a turd and a pretender to the throne.

That's awesome, Mack. Good on you for re-reviewing SW Bf 2. I wrote this game off, but I might give it another look after this review. Good luck with BF5, I just stopped playing it after the most recent patch. It crashed to desktop either every time I loaded it, or within several minutes of starting a game. Pissed me the f**k off.
Oh god don’t do BattlefieldV. It’s just gotten a patch that makes the guns feel like nerf guns. Review it after the break cuz it’s shit at the moment. It does have a bunch of new maps that are a bunch of fun to play, the gunplay has just gotten a lot worse which kinda sucks.
I hope the next Battlefield might be as good as this Battlefront 2 is now as it now comes with single player instant action, i hope the next BF has that with bots as sometimes you just want to play alone.

I would love to play a Star Wars FPS game where you could pick a faction based on your favorite playstyle (but still gives you freedom of play, not forcing you to play in a way just because that faction favors it). For instance, a Rebel faction would favor defensive tactics while the Empire would focus on head-on assaults. A third faction could be one of mercenaries, which would favor a more furtive approach. I do not know, but it would be awesome to see a mercenary faction in Battlefront, with new Bounty Hunter heroes, weapons, vehicles and ships.
I'm so glad to see the impact of people standing up it's a real reassuring thing to see that gaming could one day be back to just what it should be

what's really exciting about this game is the amount of content in star wars that they can still put into this game. The beautiful thing about star wars is how expansive it is, and DICE has a massive repository to pull from should they need to put new stuff in this game. Especially with the renewed interest in BF2, you'll be seeing this game still a thriving platform in the years to come.

You say that EA needs to get some passionate gamers to work for them so this sort of shit doesn't happen, but that's just *foolish.* These kinds of decisions aren't made by anyone that actually works on the game. It's made by marketing and management that want to make profit and increase the image of the publisher first. You *should* feel bad for the devs that actually do work on games like this. @@OGPatriot03 There are a ton of great studios out there, but they're facing a whole set of problems that EA and other major game companies will never have to deal with. They have no marketing budget, they have, and it hurts to say this, little idea how to make sure their game actually makes enough money to keep the studio(s) afloat after the game gets released.
Gamers love to hate on Epic, but honestly they're the best thing that's happened to indie game studios in the past couple of years: the few lucky indie devs that get picked up by Epic can focus entirely on their game without having to worry about selling copies of the game, marketing, or really any other major business issues. Unfortunately it's still mostly a crutch since it doesn't solve the core problem, but at least it's something.

Everything that you said is completely misinformed.
1. Making shit games doesn't increase the image of the publisher, but making games that people will reliably buy definitely will, especially if they have a guaranteed audience. Making a quality game isn't profitable. The vast majority of profit comes from the initial sell. The value of their company is based on how much money they make, and unless you have extremely bad PR like EA, consumer reviews usually don't mean shit relatively.
2. The gaming industry is not in "dissaray". Publishers are realising that they can force greedy decisions, like microtransactions, without any blame being directed towards themselves. Either the devs get the blame, or the consumer doesn't care enough to make a big deal. If anything the gaming industry is stuck in an extremely formulaic loop.
3. I don't think you know what "start a company" means. Do you even know how you do that? To become a publisher you need lots of money so you can invest, and a team that can manage that money, and lawyers. If you are a developer, either you're Indie, in which case the market is flooded with hundreds of devs exactly like you. If you are a small studio, then you need loads of money or interest from Publishers.
4 AAA games are not made by SJWs or spread SJW propaganda as you desperately want to believe. The publishers know that they can sell to a wider audience, and be labeled as "brave" or "progressive" for literally no risk. If anything, anyone that is actually an "SJW" would be upset by these fake attempts just to sell more copies, since they do more harm than good to any serious movement. Are you upset that the game has a lazy and forced "girl power" theme? The feminists do too congrats.
5. There is no real growing demand. As the gaming industry becomes overpopulated, the *average* consumer will still only have time to buy and play 5-7 games a year. Each game these days advertises at least a 16 hour experience, if not more, and most people buy at least one multiplayer game they may invest hundreds of hours in. There is no room for most people to experiment, or play multiples of the same genre of game to find out which is better.
Well, after 3 years and billions made they now can afford to take the shit out. I don't think EA has changed. Wait to see their next game ...

ALL I WANTED WAS BOT MATCHES. The old one was endlessly replayable. I think it's what made battlefront popular in the first place was being able to take part in a massive star wars battle as one of the regular troops. The heroes idea is neat or whatever but the appeal was never about people running around in circles call of duty style shooting each other in the back.

SW Battlefront in 2005. So as far as you remember BF2 was released over 10 years after BF1. I have never played those games and as I recall they were released 2-3 years apart.

I loaded up "Suicide Express" on the Commodore 64 back in the day and i knew that the only way to make money was from the sale of that game only. This is why a lot of games nowadays tend to be shit because the opportunities to make money hand over fist is developers main priority and in reality there should be no reason for so many patches. If they could only make money from the game itself, then you can bet your bottom dollar that the game would be right on day one.
My brother got this for xmas when it came out and i'm so excited to come back to it and try it now. I loved the OG battlefront 2 so i'm kinda giddy because visually and audio wise its sooooo good and now that gameplay is good too I'm super pumped!

Just like you gave it another chance, will you give Dark souls series another try. And after sekiro winning goty there is no reason to not give them another try. Start with Dark souls 3 as it is the most new comer friendly and best in the series.

Not forgetting. I picked up ea access for 1 pound this month. And avoided this game when it first came out. I played for about 6 hours in the last week and it's fantastic. And it's on the list of access games you can play. This along with bf5 which is also in a good place now. All the old school 1942 Battlefield maps are on there and they are so much fun.
