THANK YOU!! ✌️👑
Finally, a video that reflect what TKOR really was meant for
Ok, I like the end line. We need a buy vs build series!!!
The video should be listed as a part 1 due to the time of year limitation for testing it, and part 2 should come once the weather is correct for testing.
Grace, Once you have done the composite and resin layering, you NEED to put it in a vaccum chamber. This is because the resin contains air while getting it mixed. Either put the resin in the vacuum chamber before layering or after. You can also do that by wrapping it in a plastic bag on one side, Sealing it off then sucking out the air. You could also put it in an Autoclave but I don't know at what temperature you should hold the Autoclave at for the type of wood you used. That way you'd have a more sturdy and yet a lightweight snowboard.
This is the kind of content that originally got me interested in tkor thank you so much for the at home feeling with the new content. Keep it up I love it!!!
Looks to me like your wood core was a tad too thick for that bend and those clamps couldn't provide enough clamping force. Next try you should park your car on top of the press lol. Or use screw clamps. They have a lot more clamping force cuz mechanical advantage.
You once changed the density of wood by sticking it submerged in water in a vacuum chamber could you do the same thing with molten metal that's below the flash point of wood which is 300° C. Would it absorb the metal? I think that would be cool.
You'd need to make a seal that allows the cord of a hotplate to go through. Then you need a pot and metals/alloys.
Maby try skateBoard 80s style or regular style, but i think 80s style can be made easy with wood and griptape and it has only the tail bended, might need to buy trucks tho, Great video :D
I had to check to see that this wasn't released on April 1st.
with those edges you put on, it aint go going to catch anything thing. you will be flying off the cliff.
love the effort and vid but the board can just stay on the shelf.
Grace: I'm not a professional jigsawer, yet! But, one day I will be!
Jigsaw: Do you want to play a game?
Gotta do it 2 more times because the 3rd time's the charm.
👍
I love watching grace use and learn how to use tools its fun, no taking bad on the tool skills but I love watching people learning to use tools
Thank you for keeping his legacy alive it’s what he would have wanted
I just made a longboard in school so it's interesting to see the way you made your snowboard compared to the way I made mine.
Cool! I wanna try this myself but it doesn't always snow where I live but it'd still be cool to have a board I made myself.
Titebond III is probably the best easily available wood glue out there. 4k psi, functionally waterproof, etc
These build videos are my favorite!!
Love your videos
Love to see you make a lead acceleration device
COFFEE SNOWBOARD?!
T'was an accident. Lost a lot of good coffee that day...
NOOOOOOO!!!
Wtf? You had the planer and disc sander, with a bit more effort the fiberglass bubbles couldve been sanded down and a second layer on it and trimming the edges wouldve been less effort than that fugly laid vinyl
You should have glued together the top form section, like you did the bottom section, then plane and sand it smooth inside and out.
Clamp by stacking a load of bricks on it.
How to make your own snowboard:
Step one: Buy a snowboard to trace XDD
Resin without respirator?
Can you make a Bicycle with just stuff around your studio and left overs
Love it!
that was super cool and really well done!
"Soakage" ..yeah that's called wetting the glass. Despite any negatives here, this is by far the TKOR projects I miss. Really doing stuff yourself from start to finish!!
ive always wanted to try this
I don't know if it's just me but are the projects getting a bit sillier these days what happened to some of the big crazy projects I don't know just me still it was cool and great video
Wear disposable coveralls any time you mess with fiberglass, you'll be glad you did. BTW nice haircut 1/2 way through the project😉
This is random but u got the same name as my dad so that's pretty cool
@@Raldoux not that uncommon. 4 people on my socials have the same name😅
@@dougbrown7150 it's cool cuz u got the first and last too tho but yeah both pretty common
I miss old tkor
Great project!
Glad you liked it!
Grace, you are amazing. I absolutely loved the video. I would give 5 thumbs up if I could.
But you didn’t test the snowboard!
LOL
Got a curl the ends or it will get stuck right in the snow
I loved you "women work, the status quo doesn't" shirt!
Buy vs Build? I like this concept. How about a Buy vs Build Bicycle?
That was a hard project for you to do. But I did like the snowboard you made, great job.
You know I haven't watched tkor In a long time but it doesn't feel the same
Pls do a 3D printer build vs buy. That would be cool to see.
Next winter can you test it
yeah... I'll stick to buying
Can you guys make a super fluid?
Why is she making this so difficult? She should have made the snowboard then cut out the shape after putting it in the press instead of cutting the shape then assemble.
The best CZcams channel
You should also try building a skateboard
How do you think they did it with the skies at first? That's how it was done a long time ago.
You need to vacuum bag the fiberglass.
Yall need to visit oobleck
*Using a snowboard to make a snowboard*
looks cool
Thank you
You could get a tree trunk and carve out a board
make a surfboard next
Wouldn't 3/8" plywood be better than using pieces of fencing?
Interesting idea, but have you considered the rigidity of plywood? She’d have to park a car on it (a heavy one) to get it to shape correctly.
I was thinking multiple thinner layers (basically making her own plywood), but maybe that’s too heavy in aggregate.
@@sac58999 Yes, I have, and 3/8" plywood is no more rigid than what she used there.
@@DreddPirateRoberts Hmm. Maybe it depends on the number of layers or something. But that's plywood I guess. Thanks for the input!
Well this project took so lo g she had to cut her hair while working on it. HAHAHA
So sad that snowboarding season is almost over
Cool video but it would have been nice of you to give credit to Signal Snowboards/ETT for giving you the idea and copying their process
Arnt you supposed to use layers of thin veneer glued together.? Not 1 big huge thick core
great job grace
What happened to the real ktor
Please do the 1 towel test on you washer okay please and thanks and make the film
hello my friend 👏super video
next time watch Every third Thursday
Build a waterboard or water skis
Build a bow an arrow gun instead of buying a bow an arrow gun
Well, do more new, more complex things, I'm sure it would live up to the name much better
This is literally just a copy of the signal every third thursday episode
I'm not gonna lie. Very disappointed this time. One quick search you could find out that bend wouldn't work at all
Try to make a skateboard?!
Anyone else see the notification for coffee core from scratch
1) IDK what drama is happening on the TKOR set, but when I subbed, I didn't think I was subbing to The Grace Show. No offense Grace, but you work better as a team, and at this point in your CZcams career, you can't carry the show by yourself.
2) if what I've read about the main drama points is true, you can do WAY better. You're a scientist and a model. Get it together and find a new path that skips the drama.
How about a skateboard?
Bit late for snowboard season
You never know with Utah weather.
Um Grace my might want to tie your hair back, you don't want to get it cot in the power tool
Build versus buy a car
I would have gone with an all marine ply snow board make it a deep snow one leave the natural wood showing and of course used actual inserts and actual edges they are cheap and work better than what you ended up using. Considering your can get a used snowboard for $100 this definitely goes in the category only worth it for learning
Uh Brighton is still open? What’s with this “It’s spring in UT” bs?
Shame.... The King of Random has turned into the Queen of Fail.
Ion care she cute ash n she smart doing things I can't do it make her cuter😭😭😭😂😂😂😂😂
nice!
Have you thought about building a longboard? I was able to build a couple for my self one of which was made without any power tools. They both work great IMO.
Wow!
Really great
How did you pay for all that wood that is like 100 dollars of Wood now thanks COVID
That is not fence post
Build a car
Tbh it’s not that bd
I’m one of the first 3 to watch the video I just finished it
Much appreciated!
I like that a lot
8:01 The fumes might not smell, but are toxic. You want to wear a respirator
Nice
Yay a heart
who
Women women make things^
i love you !!!!!
I love you too random citizen
Cool
grace is such a frickin badass
I was expecting it to be bad, but wow 😬
