- Bad Endings. I don't know about anyone else, but they terrify me. Just when the hero(es) thought everything was finally right, just when it looked like peace had finally returned to the world/city/etc, something had to happen that, at best, creates a bitter sweet victory and, at worst, spoils everything and the enemies win after all your struggles. Sure, Game Overs CAN be scary too, but more often than not, all you'll get when you run out of lives is a simple "Game Over" message, possibly with the option to try again. Bad endings don't give you any second chances, you screwed things up for everyone and you must pay dearly...

This ending is bittersweet , even on the perfect ending, Shokora is dead, and her kingdom was destroyed, but at least she can move on to the afterlife, now that wario saved her soul from the Golden Diva.
And it's rather touching to see that even a complete selfish guy like wario can do something good.
The creepy part is the guilt you would feel after screwing up her SOUL because you couldn't beat those bosses fast enough.
But here's the thing: he never intended to do good. He only cared about the treasure, and the princess being saved was just circumstantial. Just look at the ending to Warioland: Shake It. He shoves the princess he saves aside just so he can get to the magic golden sack. Wario truly is a selfish bastard...and that's why we love him.

I don't think her soul is screwed up on the perfect and good ending, but definitely something's wrong with her in the bad and worst ending.

I just wonder how the chests are connected to Princess Shokora's form...
There is something she has always looked like, before she turned into a cat. Maybe these chests all contain something that made Shokora's life a little better when she was a child, like an important relic, and, as they disappear from the screen, they also disappear from reality, and it's as if they've never existed, as if Shokora had never noticed the difference: the past has been altered.

Man, the two bad endings are terrifying. Just look at how horrified Wario looks, and combine that with the fact that he didn't get very much money
By the way, that old man seen in the ending (and can be seen throughout Wario Land 4) is actually from a Japan-exclusive Game Boy game called Kaeru no Tame no Kane way Naru ("For the Frog the Bell Tolls"). His name is Arewo Shitain-hakase ("Dr. Arewo Shitain" or "Dr. Arewo Stein", called "Dr. Knit" in the fan translation of the game), but weirdly enough, a Japan-exclusive advert for Wario Land 4 has an interview with Dr. Arewo Shitain where he claims to be in Wario Land 3! In other words, it would seem that Mad Scienstein from Wario Land 3 (and by extension Dr. Mario 64) are actually this one doctor character from a Japan-exclusive game boy game!

I can't help but feel a bit sad during these endings. Since Shokora's kingdom and her people were cursed years ago, Shokora was technically dead by now. Just seeing her moving on to the afterlife was pretty sad to watch.

Also, that Wa-Peach will scar me for a good while. Thank God I got the perfect ending, even when I first got this game at 5 years old, because that could've killed me back then.
You know, I somehow knew you were gonna post this. Out of curiosity, I said "screw the treasure!" and only got the diamonds so I could advance to the boss battles. In the end, I got the suckish ending as a result... Nearly threw up on my GBA...

There’s no treasure in the stages, only the boss battles, and you would have most likely gotten at least 4-6.
Maybe you meant that you saw the treasure disappearing in the boss battles but didn’t redo the bosses anyways because you didn’t care.

This was my very first game I ever played. And looking back on all the years I've worked hard on to complete the entire game, I say I did one hell of an accomplishment getting all 12 treasures on Super Hard mode!

i always found one game from my childhood always haunted me for failing in. A game that always made me fear getting a bad ending. That game was Earth 2150. Basically everything is going to shit in the game and each of the three factions are trying to gather enough resources to build an evacuation ship as earth is plumeting towards the sun. This is one of those timed endings in which if you don't move fast enough and gather the materials in time or if you do a mission wrong. You end up with a cutscene of the earth blowing up and getting you shot back to the main menu. The entire idea of that always made me cringe and attempt to avoid a game over at all costs. Problem is. Is in some missions the AI can be brutal and wipe you out if your not quick or prepared for it.
To me, Normal Shokora (11-4 treasure chests) is cuter than Princess Shokora (12 treasure chests), so you're not alone. About the Bratty Shokora (2-3 treasure chests), she looks like one of Wario's family member, because her face is like Wario, but that's not her true form.

Ah, this game! I played it so long ago, and I really did enjoy it. I think I only got the second one you had shown (the one where she has the long hair). I never really knew the story behind this game; I always just found it as a confusing, ominous, but very nice adventure all the way through. I was young then, so my mind couldn't comprehend anything that was going on, but it was still EXTREMELY interesting to me. Luckily, after some good time spent on it, I finally beat it.
it's pretty neat how there are four endings for this game. the one i got last time was the second ending, with the shokora that wears a dress and looks young.
