    Taxation is theft. Victim feminism is also coercive.

      taxation is not theft. it is dues for living hear and benefiting from civil society. any and every founder understood this, as did the thinkers who they drew inspiration from.

    The victim culture is very strong making these young women weak and weak minded. They act like children not strong women.

    This series (unexpectedly) took a hard left turn with this vid. With her advocacy of her older feminism, she underscores her pet projects funded at taxpayers' expense. Rather than maximizing "liberty", she subverts it. It's hard to determine whether her "falling stars" tattoo signifies her taste in art or portends her future career as a Libertarian. It also belies her goal of a "traditional return to femininity".

    Empowerment is having the ability to act on one's own, for one's own good, for one's own goals and to defend oneself from harm of whatever kind. "Feminism" as espoused here is retrograde, reducing women to wards of the state which will then act for them on the assumption that women are unwilling or unable to take responsibility for themselves.

    I'd love to see her defend her "socialized childcare" as not promoting that woman are victims that should be coddled. Zero principle here. Just preference.

    Very thoughtful vid full of great ideas that analyzes the problem. Kind of wish stayed on topic and didn't make that unrelated stupid redistribution comment though, Know your audience ma'am, this is a libertarian channel, know you just have everyone focusing on one comment they didn't like so now they didn't even notice your main point, which of them probably would have agreed with.

    Being a woman with a few extra functions can be difficult, at least with respect to the other sex. However, to fail to understand the female is to fail to understand the other half of humanity. With respect to females of other species, the human female pays a hefty price so that you may have your large brain. These physical differences inevitably result in a difference in behavior, as well as reproductive strategy compared to the male.
    Not everything is bad as a female though. Relative to the rest of your body, many of your vital organs are huge. Strength is sacrificed in favor of a longer lifespan, internal health, and overall vitality, long-term survival, and energy conservation.
    There's more to life than having huge muscles, of which may only serve to weigh down your vital organs later on, especially in the act of maintaining them as they slowly become dead weight. You still need them for mobility, but too much and you're sacrificing your lifespan in favor of strength.

    Ah yes, redistribution. After all, all sexes are equal, some sexes are more equal than others.

    I assume Learn Liberty is trying to appeal to a whole new demographic by having Laura Kipnis in a few videos... but they're risking alienating their core subscribers by doing it. Whomever was behind this idea to have her in a few videos... needs to be re-assessed. It was a very poor decision.

    Too bad this woman doesn't apply her free speech values to my wallet & the Constitution. If subsidized child care (hey, why not subsidized health care, subsidized energy (ethanol, nuclear, wind, clean coal) is to exist, it would have to be a state-level initiative because Congress has clearly defined enumerated powers. Wealth redistribution to certain groups isn't one of them.

  • @helidodge
    @helidodge Před 8 lety

    Ugh, redistribution? That's theft. Sorry, but this lady may have had some valid points in this video, but I couldn't make myself hear them after her comment about redistribution. I see the effects of redistribution everyday at work. Redistribution creates a sense of entitlement and learned helplessness. The recipients of welfare etc. become dependent on the government instead of fulfilling their potential as human beings.

    • @artfuldodger5933
      @artfuldodger5933 Před 8 lety

      I can't stomach the "redistribution is theft" argument. Whether you care about the morality of taxation or not is frankly irrelevant imo. You would prefer to take the benefits bestowed upon you by the society you depend on and not give up anything to others. If that's what you mean, say it, instead of throwing this cloak of morality over what is, at its core, a simply self-centered position. Own it, glory be to Rand. If you want to talk about learned helplessness and welfare dependency, do it, point to evidence. Don't whine about how it's just wrong to levy taxes. It's lazy and unconvincing.

    • @helidodge
      @helidodge Před 8 lety

      What would you call redistribution then? The so called "benefits bestowed" upon me are earned. I put myself through college by working and borrowed a little money which I paid back, with interest I might add. I work hard and EARN the so called benefits. Yet nearly 1/3 of my paycheck goes to taxes. The taxation is done without my consent and without a voice as to where that money is spent/wasted.

    • @helidodge
      @helidodge Před 8 lety

      +Artful Dodger As far as me "not giving anything back to the society I depend on":
      1. You don't know me. So you statement is presumptive AND wrong. You don't know what charities I support or the people I help.
      2. There are better and more efficient ways to support my society than the corrupt, inefficient, bureaucratic monster that is government. Why should some bureaucrat have a say in where my money should be given? Why do we need to pay bureaucrats a salary to make those decisions. That's money that could be put to better use creating jobs and taking care of the ones who TRULY need assistance.

    • @artfuldodger5933
      @artfuldodger5933 Před 8 lety

      helidodge 1. Fair enough, I should have specified. Not giving anything back to the GOVERNMENT you depend on.
      2. "Why do we need to pay bureaucrats a salary to make those decisions. That's money that could be put to better use creating jobs"
      The juxtaposition of these two phrases is hilarious. I do understand you mean that the money paid to bureaucrats could be spent elsewhere and create spin-off benefits greater than the benefit created by the bureaucrat, of course. Anyway, that's your opinion, and that's an important debate that needs to happen. I'm not going to engage with you here, though I will readily admit I respectfully disagree. I took issue specifically with the morality slant of your comment.
