  • We are a family of 8 living in a 5th wheel OFF GRID in Colorado. We have been remodeling our RV so we can live comfortably as we build our dream home. We knew when we bought this 5th wheel we were gonna figure out a way to do laundry in house. We have been paying a laundry service to do our massive amounts of laundry đŸ‘ŽđŸŒ We were able to put in a laundry closet with a FULL size stack unit. We got a white GE Laundry Center. Washer is 3.8 cubic foot, and dry is 5.9 cubic feet. It works like a dream. This is seriously changing our lives!!
    Feel free to watch as we continue to learn and experiment while we build our dream home mostly off grid in the middle of nowhere!

    Just my opinion and maybe a useful bit of feedback. That "music" was so annoying that I had to mute the video and turn on CC. That is nobody's idea of good music. Hope you don't use that sort of thing in your other videos. It adds nothing, believe me.
    That said, I am thinking of buying an older model stackable washer dryer into my new-to-me Class A which has a nice laundry closet, so this was helpful to watch you install it.

I love watching the home improvements and seeing your whole family working together. Getting the kids involved. You are an amazing family. I hope we get to see you sometime as the world returns to normal. Jim would love a western road trip. Allura lives in Utah and I have more family there. So ...maybe one day.

    Hi.. thanks for the video. My question is: is your agitator during wash cycle noisey at all? Or the spin cycle as well? We just got this same unit & had it installed, & I gotta tell ya, when the machine starts agitating for the wash cycle it sounds like a jumbo jet is revving his engine & about to take off... lol. Thanks for any info you may offer..

.Did you remove the shipping pins that keep it still during transit? Maybe too full? Goodluck figuring it all out!

    • @AH-tg2mk
      @AH-tg2mk Pƙed rokem

      I am finally getting around to looking for others who have this same issue. I don't know what the problem is, but it sounds like a jet plane taking off. Or like the load is off balance (and the load is not too big. I don't overstuff my washer). I just took a video of it and I guess I should either ask GE about it, or a repair person. Thankfully I am still w/in the 3 year warranty I got for it. As loud and long as the spin setting goes, it *does* spin the heck out of the laundry so some pieces (like boxers) sometimes have spots that are actually dry.
      The best thing about this w/d combo is the dryer. It's relatively quiet and works really fast at drying laundry (the spin cycle getting out a lot of water helps I'm sure). The washer is another story. One con is that there is no setting for just a "Rinse" cycle. Might not be an issue for folks, but just FYI...if something needs a quick 2nd rinse...no can do. You just have to choose the Speed Wash setting. Also, if you are doing a load and the washer is filling with water and you go to grab a shirt and then get distracted and forget you are doing laundry. After the bin fills with water, after about 10 mins it will drain the water. I've run over to it to try and stop it, but to no avail...bye bye to all that water and you have to fill it again. I understand it's probably a safety feature, but dang...it's frustrating to feel like you've just wasted all that water. I wish it could at least be stopped (maybe it can be unplugged? Haven't tried that b/c it's hard to reach).
      There are also some settings where even though you pick "Hot" water, it will do cold. Not sure what that's about. I've also never had any luck with the "Precise Fill" setting. You also have to be mindful that this washer does not fill near the top with water, so be sure to not over fill it with clothes thinking that on Super it will fill up w/in a few inches to the top.
      My last comments is that it twists my sheets up pretty well. I don't know if all washers with agitators do this, but this machine def does. I wouldn't choose to have this w/d combo, but I'm in an apt and side-by-sides wouldn't fit, nor would stacked front loaders (not to mention they were too expensive). One day I'll get my dream w/d....Speed Queen! But for now at least I have a w/d. :)

    • @AH-tg2mk
      @AH-tg2mk Pƙed rokem

      Oh, and the rinse cycle is mayyyybe 30 seconds? Again, why? So odd. Fills up with all that water, swishes for 30 seconds or so, and then drains all the water.

    How are you getting 220volt in an RV?

    • @itsworthit5029
      @itsworthit5029  Pƙed rokem

      You have to buy a 5th wheel or use a panel that uses 50 amps. If you upgrade an existing 30 amp panel to a 50 amp Make sure the wiring can handle the extra load. 30 amps that only use 110 volts only have a single hot leg (1 black, 1 white , and a ground); 50 amp wiring utilizing 220 volts has 2 hot legs (1 black, 1 red, 1 white, and a ground). 30 amp wiring is usually at least 10 gauge but 50 amps requires at least 6 gauge. So if it’s not 6 gauge wiring and only has one hot leg, you need to replace the wiring running from the plug to the new panel and replace the plug with a 4 prong. In our case, the 5th wheel was already wired with a 50 amp panel so we didn’t need to upgrade the wiring.
