- 🔶 Charlie finds out his favourite Star Wars Empire at War ship, the Tector Star Destroyer! Watch to find out why!
Star Wars Empire at War Fall of the Republic is a Star Wars Empire at War Clone Wars mod and is one of the Empire at War Expanded series. It is a mod from the creators of Thrawn's Revenge, takes a modern look at The Clone Wars series, with new factions, new ships and new types of gameplay. Along with a whole new take on the Skirmish Mode & Galactic Conquest. This is NOT a Thrawn's Revenge 2 and is it's own mod.

Hey all, Charlie here. I know there has been a lot of solo-Charlie content lately. But rest-assured there will be more Eck content very, VERY soon!
In the mean-time, my question to you all is, what is your new favourite ship from the update? You certainly know mine 😉
- Charlie
DId you guys use some voice clips from Battlefront 2 (2006)? I swear I heard some nostalgia in there.
They have imported sound clips from Star Wars battlefront and Star Wars Galactic battlegrounds I am definitely hearing imperial / republic Boat noises
If you don’t know what galactic battlegrounds is it’s basically age of empire except it’s Star Wars
I haven’t actually played with the Tector in fall of the republic, however I have in thrawns revenge, let’s just say the don’t work nearly as well there as they do here, the same goes with the praetor, I have played as the new republic and used two Mc 90’s and at most 5 support ships , and I have easily taken down a praetor, victory, and a acclamtor. So I’m pretty sure they praetor either needs a huge buff or the mc 90’s need a nerf. However if we are talking about tectors, I do think they are food ships they just really need quite a bit of fighter support.
If I’m right I think they removed the longer firing distance the Praetor’s guns had in 2.1 which did hurt it a good bit from the bit of 2.2 I’ve played. That sort of artillery like role it had made fill a quite useful role in a fleet as instead of spamming smaller capital ships like the ISD you could throw a Praetor in and focus on a more varied and flexible support fleet to back it up.
There's actually no reason for buffing Praetor II. They were sort of upgraded Praetor I, which was build under Ruusan reformation limits, so it was tanky, but lacked a lot of firepower and speed
I heard someone mention the Tector? A very underappreciated ship.
A true battleship
Better pair them with some carriers though.
Definitely, with Acclamator being in Tech Level 1 now, I think that should not be too difficult!
Just take the page from the US Navy’s playbook 😉.
Tectors are good anti capital/space station but no fighter and low point defence is definitely a big weakness
Of course. A fleet is one strong unit, and ships shouldn’t be operating alone. Using effective combinations of Carriers to accompany the tectors would make them devastating.
Nice vid man.
I am going to have to disagree with you, the tector for me is maybe 3rd favourite ship.
I would have to put the Victory 1 as the best, in my opinion, gained at tech 3, huge damage output for its size and looks sleek.
Ah, the Victor. Easily my favourite Star Destroyer. Far more practical than the ISD.
What about the victory II, the poor man's equivalent to the Imperial?
I got six of them in 6 weeks in game once i was cheering mate : )
Great video keep it up mate : D
Thanks for the kind words!

Venator's design: Primary focus is fighters, but can also serve as a battleship, and carries large amounts of ground forces, complete multirole ship.
ISD's design: Large focus on maximizing firepower to serve as a battleship, still carries some fighters, as well as lots of ground forces.
Tector's desing: MoRe GuN
Which is a pretty dammed good design philosophy. Battle carriers are bad enough, but what bright spark in the star wars universe decided it was a good idea to jam every battleship with a ground invasion force as standard equipment?
Well the empire wanted to occupy most planets and having a rickety 30 year old acclamator deliver the troops defeats their fear doctrine
@@stablernose7203 Then make a big troop transport that's black and covered in skulls, I don't care. I mean, I can ALMOST see it making sense with the empire, since their ships were acting more as platforms for the occupation of planets than as ships fighting a real war, and there weren't really any ships that could challenge an ISD in a straight up fight. But they should have ditched the ground forces when they had any expectation that they might be going into battle with a decently armed foe.
And the Republic really has no excuse. There is no reason that those venators needed to be packed with ground troops and armored vehicles while engaging enemy ships.
Just imagine how much more effective these ships would be if they swapped out all the tanks and landing barges in their hangers for more fighters.
@@stablernose7203 It had nothing to do with the age of the ships and everything to do with the Emperor not wanting ANYTHING to remind people of the Republic when they thought of the Empire.
To that end every single thing that did was disposed of as fast as possible even though all of it could have been used for decades to come. He throws away and replaces an entire military in just a couple years in order to achieve this.
I agree. Destroyers are not meant to be equipped with such equipment. In a combination with carriers, a tector would be an amazing asset.
For instance, how am I gonna stop a big mean mother Hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous new behind?
The answer is it's a gun, and if that don't work, use more gun
Was that Justin's voice saying, "We'll deploy those mines." when you pressed the button to deploy the interdictor mines?
Yeah that's mine
@@EcksToo I thought that was your voice on the Pelta support ship. Very cool.
i love your vids so much also eaw is so cool
Thank you pal, means a lot!

tector is better than eck's puny nebula
I didn't look into the exact patch notes on the Acclamator 1's but the carrier lost significant firepower, which is fair in my opinion. Before the only difference between the assault and the 2 was fighter composition and missiles. The carrier used to have 4 quad turbolasers, which had it been left like that for a tech 1 ship would have been overpowering.
Venator
after rebalance yes
gunships seem to be better than carrier now, and tector is a pure gunship with high dps and shield
send a carrier lucrehulk vs a bb lucrehulk and you see what i mean
acclamator are still good i would say
i use assault acclamator because of beeing a jack of all trades
I do think ships should get more engine hard points based of how big or how many they have.
does fall of the republic have a galactic conquest mode?
Yes
Hey Eck. Just so you know you have to activate those mines manually
Were those early model TIEs? Huh.
I have a Galactic Vs idea The Flood Vs The Emporium Of Man
What I meant to say was Imperium
Flood
Isn’t a tector class star destroyer just a star destroyer optimized for ship to ship combat with no hanger bays
Yup
Despite a tector easily being able to beat venetor I won't say a tector is better. The tector doesn't have fighters and - being a isd variant - don't have any major anti fighter defence wear as the venetor is a muti purpos/carrier/support vessel
ru6en Which is exactly the point. The venators and secutor are better as carriers than warships. The Tector is a pure destroyer; accompanied by Venators and secutor, the ship would be extremely effective at offensive operations.
No ship should ever move without escort. The fact that each ship is specialized makes a fleet much more versatile and offers more tactical options. The Tector doesn’t need any kind of fighter support, because there’s already ships to do that for him, and it brings firepower Venators/Secutors/Victory’s could never bring. It only became useless in the imperial era, because the empire didn’t make much use of carriers.
Dont like changing stuff just to slow down games. Balance sure but doubling high end ships making you almost not buy them seems weird. You saved up money for 5 minutes and couldn't even get a praetor
I do not mind the changes on first impression. It will be exciting to use these new changes with potential new maps that allows to source large amounts of income safely.
