Empire At War Remake Mod isn't a massive change to the game compared to Thrawn's Revenge or Awakening of the Rebellion. But the mod itself updates all the ships to a crisp, high quality version of it's once old self. This and some 1-to-1 size alterations of ship scales & ranges of ships that reflect more accuracy to Legends lore.

(Mod author here) Ah the refit was found.
The weapon refit was part of the re-imagining I did for the Xyston. While Disney of course made their Xyston class, I felt it was too overpowered, and just a silly ship in general, sized up 50% for additional umpf in the movie. I reimagined the ship as a regular ISD 1 hull, with a powerful long range beam cannon (But no planet destroying superlaser).
The refit went one step further. Replacing it's trench weapons with medium laser cannons and two sonic missile launchers for anti-starfighter purposes, and a front Magpulse missile launcher to stun enemy capital ships before finishing them off with the long range beam cannon. The refit is a much more focussed warship, depending more heavily on its beam cannon to chew through enemy starships, while now its trench weapons are capable of defending the ship against the main weakness of the normal ISD, starfighter attacks.

The Xyston II class that shoots out missiles from the sides are primarily used against small starfighters/bombers and is very very effective at clearing entire squadrons of them if they happen to be within the blast area of the missiles detonating since each missiles are basically seismic charges. So they are not very useful against other large ships and instead should be used to clear out a large wave of starfighters/bombers. At 7:44 those are not from the magpulse missiles, but rather from the sonic missile launchers located at the sides which should've been used against those starfighters/bombers that were headed towards your Xyston II destroyer

Honestly if they just called the Xyston the Death Destroyer in the movie I wouldn't be surprised by the unoriginality.

A mk2 xyston should have a large but decently sized turbolaser cannon on the bottom instead of a planet killing super laser which uses tons and tons of power in my opinion.
Would be useful as a anti capital ship weapon and a bit of a siege weapon against enemy bases. Think of it as the first order dreadnought with its super turbolaser cannons though based on the quad turbolasers on the ISD 2 or the dual cannons of the ISD 1 but bigger and far more powerful. But not as powerful enough to destroy a planet like the super laser. If u get what I mean.
Or just very large yet smaller turbolaser barrels on the side or something you know something practical. Like the heavy turbolaser cannons we see on the supremacy but near the super structure of the ship so not below just to add more firepower.
Overall the mk2 should have more point defense for fighters.
The Heavy sonic missiles at the sides of the Xyston II is more than enough for fighters and bombers as each of them are essentially seismic charges and it shoots out dozens of them in an area which can clear out entire wings in an instant.

The Xyston-II will just be the tractor beams tower replaced with a comms array
I think the xyston second class star destroyers should be improvements in power like they should have three planet killing weapons and should not have the lasers be the weaknesses and they should have stronger shields and stronger star fighters.
I really want to download this mod, but it's so confusing as to which one to download. So many 'outdated' ones, and the latest require some version I can't find; and says only for Steam version when I only have game disc ver. which I downloaded a crack file for so I won't put my game disc every time. Can someone help me?
long story short: Get the Steam version, it's even on sale atm. The Disc version can't be updated anymore, so they use the Steam Version only, which has already the named crack file in it. Don't think about buying the same game again.... with the mod, you basically have a 2020 version, which is better in any way

I’m curious about that as well, I noticed there’s a specific map where you can test it but otherwise idk
TonyBro9 I was actually messing around with the files and got it the xyston working in game but the supremacy is bugged comes into space battles with blown up hard points and doesn’t move
