@@yrsued there two models of extractor the long exposed ones and the smaller internal ones but yes the smaller ones a are universal over multiple legacy guns for sig and different calibers of those pistols

Internal, Short External and Long External, the fact that you probably have never seen a Short External doesn't mean that it DOES NOT exist, it just means you have never seen it!! That is NOT such a good idea!! Depending on how old your frame is, it might not be strong enough to handle the .40 S&W cartridge and you will damage your frame!!
@@yrsued thanks for mentioning that. I was going to verify with sig that Incan donor before I ordered the part. But it is a new production mk25. It hasn’t even arrived from the factory at the ffl yet. Would you happen to know if the new mk25 can handle it? I’m still going to verify with sig anyway.

I did buy a LEO trade in .40 S&W p226, just haven't picked it up, but plan to tomorrow. If I had to replace the extractor, would that be an easy/cheap-ish part to replace?
@@196cupcake No, you don't need to replace the extractor at all, there are two versions, if this is a LE Trade, it should have the small extractor in it, they are older guns, the newer guns have the large extractor.

I don't know the year they discontinued it for the 226. I tried to order from sig last June. It's sig that told me it was no longer available. They do make them for the p320 thought.
Still not a 100% sure I'd try that? I have the P226 in 357 sig and want get a 40S&W barrel being 357 sig is so damn expensive(Apr. 2022) but as of April 2022 I can not find one place that has 40S&W barrels in stock. Think sig needs to get off their ass's and start making barrels or more ammo at a cheaper cost. I do really think I should stick with my Glocks and F**K Sig being Glock parts seem to be more readily available right now.
Hey, READ before you talk!! If you look at the compatibility chart for the Dillon 450/550, 9mm and .40 both use the #5 Shell Plate!! Remember, it's better to remain quiet and be thought of as a fool, than open your mouth and REMOVE ALL DOUBT!! So, before you type FALSE information, READ!!!
I did when I made this video over 3 years ago, I still have the data. The difference in hood with between the .40 and the 9mm was about the same as the difference between all eleven 9mm barrels I measured, two were SIG, eight were Storm Lake and one was Silencerco. Actually, the differences between manufacturers in 9mm was greater than the .40 to 9mm

But its something i would not do,simply because of how quick the nitron finish wears out on the rails of my my two sig p -229

I still have two ,one a pre 1995 i believe because by the serial number,sig has no record so customer service told me it was a 1995 or earlier,its a german frame with legacy slide,a p-228 with a 40 S& W slide i guess. The nitron finish is somewhat worn out on the inside of the rails,not the whole lenght,but at four spots.,i had call sig because i wanted to restore the frame but they said they do not refinish alloy frames.,a few years back tried the Robar company but i guess they closed there doors ,or another company bought them. All i know is that the coating wears quick on the rails, including my brand new sig bought in 2017 had wear within 500 rounds. Also i believe its the Sig armorer website explains the importance of using grease on the rails of the alloy frames P series pistols.( Sig only mentions oil). Either way it does not matter to me,i probably clean my pistols too much after use,and always re grease them anyway. So just cause Sig does not mention grease for the rails ,and does not refinish alloy frames ,also customer service told me that Sig does not sell a 40 to 9 mm caliber conversion barrel because they consider it unsafe,they could not tell me why that was. Anyway to each their own. I wont put a different slide on my P-229 ,instead i am getting a Bar-Sto barrel.

And the fact that the slides on these are Steel or Stainless Steel and the frames are Anodized Aluminum, THERE WILL BE wear on the rails, whether you have an old slide or a new slide!! Aluminum IS softer than steel. I will have a CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL Gunsmith answer this for you if you want!! I think you should consult a professional and not listen to websites populated by those that know less than you do.

The P226 is a superb pistol, but aftermarket parts for them are very hard to find, there's Glock Parts everywhere!!
