Chicago Bears Linebacker Brian Urlacher Catches Up with Jay | Uncut with Jay Cutler (Episode 50)

  • Brian Urlacher joins old teammate Jay Cutler to catch up on life, sports parenting, and their careers. Brian even jokes about how he should have been a quarterback like Jay and he'd probably still be playing, because today's players are playing into their 40's. Jay and Brian also have some frank thoughts on CTE, both talking about how their bodies and minds feel as they start to age, and how they worry about the long-term effects as they get older. Plus fresh on the heels of the Deshaun Watson suspension, both Jay and Brian were really shocked that it was only six games. Brian also talks about how tough things have become in the city of Chicago, and when Jay asks about how Brian feels about the Bears leaving Soldier Field, he doesn't seem to care as long as Chicago doesn't get a dome. Jay jokes that they will to get a Super Bowl, and Brian continues to joke that it's too cold in Chicago in February for a Super Bowl so they'll never get one. Plus Brian's journey through football, old memories and stories from the NFL, and how Brian is spending his retirement.

I could have watched another 2-3 hours of these two talking. Always hated that Jay got flamed so bad by the media and fans when he had the worst O lines to play behind. Meanwhile Brian was fun to watch. Gifted with speed and instincts where he was always in on or around the tackle and played in the perfect system to compliment his God given skills. Was great to hear these 2 greats talking.

Always with the o-lines. It's always the o-lines. Even with Fields, it's the o-lines. The QB's are never to blame. It's the general manger, the coaches, the o-lines... never the QBs. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Jay - you probably won't listen, but just advice - there were some topics you hit where it got real interesting with the dialogue between you two. The shootings in Chicago was one . . . . but you seem to abruptly cut it short and jump to the next topic. This makes the setting seem so robotic and unnatural.
Podcasts are so much better and interesting when it feels like there isn't a camera in the room with microphones and it's 2 buddies dishing it up. You guys could have went on for another 20 minutes talking about that stuff and sharing your thoughts among other things. If you feel that will cut into the time of other things you want to ask him, I wouldn't worry about those. Just cut those short. If a topic lasts 45 minutes . . .. so be it. If it lasted that long, it was because it was extremely interesting anyways.
I don't agree with your guys thoughts on some things, however, it's still interesting hearing your thoughts on issues.
