thanks for this. i just finished the job on my gf’s 2008 Jetta SE, and found your video quite helpful.
was a bit intimidated at first but was not going to pay the $900 dealer estimate.($215 for the part and 3 hours labor.)
getting the glove box to re-seat was the hardest part.
she is delighted to no longer hear that awful noise at start-up and in reverse!

I found the video here to look at the parts installation. That little motor is a bugger to get in- worth a note- there is a small circular indentation where cog from the motor inserts into. IF you look at that with a flashlight- guiding the motor into position is a lot easier. It only goes in one way, but knowing when to push the motor to align with that circular plastic part of the housing and the 3 prongs- will help make it A LOT easier. Thank you for posting this. With all the details, total time to install new fan motor and new divertor motor was about 1.5 hours total. Plus 20 mins to watch the video 3x. LOL.

Thanks for posting this video. I have a 2008 Jetta as well. Got er done today. No more buzz. 2 hrs and $10 bucks. I had a booger of a time getting the new motor on. After studying the old one and new one, I noticed in the closed position the gear on the new one needed to be just was smidge open to fit correctly. So I plugged the new one in, turn the car on, opened it all the way, then closed it and turn the car off right at the point where I needed the gear to be.

Also fits some Skoda, Ford Mustang SEAT other fords and Vauxhall/opel/GM meriva 1 st generation, you can also buy just the motor using the BOSCH part number from the label inside the unit, around 6 euro's from Germany.
A lot of these have 2 wire, others have 5 wires, either can be used on the 2 wire, but if yours is 5 wire you must use 5 wire, 5 wire are I think for climate control as the extra 3 prongs go to a sensor that sends info about exact position to air con/climate control unit.
The cog simply pulls out and that is how it is able to be used on so many different cars.
These pack up as the 2 wire one powers in the direction requested ALL the time the ignition is on, it simply reverses current to achieve each direction, the lecky motor is a doddle to fit no soldering simply pushes into place even the contacts on the end.
On my meriva it is 4 screws on glovebox, then 2 screws on unit to take off literally 5
minutes, 2 screws hold it on while 3rd hole locates over a peg so it is in the right position

Thanks a lot Ted! For anyone who has the same issue and wants to save a few bucks: I was able to fix my motor by opening the recirclulation motor's plastic casing and adding few layers of duct tape between the casing and actual motor which allows the worn plastic gears inside to connect again. (Please be aware that if you add too many layers the motor might not be able to turn all the way or at all.)

    Nice job you done here!
One question if you know, perhaps.
Heat exchange and middle (central) ventilation not working (left and right are working normal).
Connected OBD2 port and scanned with carista and it says that i have 4 faults in AC modules.
4 faults in the same time?? Whats the odd with that?
01809 - Actuator for temperature flap on the left of (V158)
01810 - Actuating Motor for Temperature Flap: Right (V159)
01272 - Positioning Motor for Central Flap (V70)
01274 - Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71)
Whats the odd that 4 motors bured at once? It is a small fortune and pain in the a**** to replace all that!
Is there maybe something else got off which cause those 4 not runing...if you know..maybe some kind of fuse or...?

Hi does this control temperature too?
I have a golf mk5 1.9tdi and my heaters are cold.when I adjust the temp dial I can only hear this working upto about 1/5 of the dial. Anything after that there is no sound therefore I'm assuming it's this part?

    • @zennx
      @zennx  Před 5 lety

I don't think it controls temperature. It wasn't working for about a year in my car and I was still able to adjust between cold and hot. The only thing that wouldn't work was the re-circulation, so some mornings it would take a while to get the heat going. I guess in a way it has a little bit to do with it.

Looks like your re-circulation motor is working and opening/closing the flap. I'm not sure what that galloping sound is, but I have heard something similar before in my car. Not sure what causes that or if it's related.
