My Vice Needs Some Balls

- Back in June when I was supposed to be at the Bar Z Summer Bash I ended up going to an auction ant my favorite hardware store in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. I won several auctions including this Craftsman vice made in the USA. It was in good condition just missing the cross bar. In this video I will make the replacement bar and shape the ball ends on it without the benefit of a ball turner.

Hi Steven that vice was a good buy and now a really useful tool. Great job making the new locking bar, enjoyed watching. Tony
Thanks for watching and commenting. Now to figure out what to do with an extra vice.
Really nice to see you back.Quite a vice.Thank you.
I is good to be back in the shop. Now all I have to do is decide what to do with the vice. I have two in the shop already. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Extra vices are always handy 2 rings on each end of the ball Stop the pinging noise
Thanks for the video
Just need to find them. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice vise. Keep on keeping on.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Hello Steve,
Good to see that you are okay...the vice looks good with its new balls.
Take care.
Paul,,
It is amazing how fast time gets away from you. Been a bust summer just not in the shop. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi Steve, Shame you missed the Bash. Looked like another great year for the event. Nice Craftsman vice. Cheers Kevin
I really missed going to the Bash this year but the plane flight that I was offered was just too late. Thanks for watching and commenting.
G'day Steven. Lovely to see you out in the shop making stuff mate. Nice work on the vice handle balls mate. I look forward to seeing more videos from you soon. Cheers, Aaron.
Ii is good to get back out there. Very hot this summer and I have a lot of projects to work on. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice vise score. Man I can't believe the airlines screwed you over like that. I would have been livid.
I was less that happy about it but I made the best out of the weekend that I could and made some good scores at the auction. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice video and work. That was a pleasure to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Steve, will you also be adding some "rubber" washers between the ball-ends and the screw to lessen the banging as the handle slips down due to gravity? Great job!
I actually considered it while I was filming the last scene. I think that I have some thick "O" rings that will do the trick if I can't find thick washers. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Nice repair…think I have the same vise, I added shims to the slide to correct the alignment
I did notice that the jaw is a little sloppy. This is a nice light weight vice. Not sure what I am going to do with it, but I do plan to clean it up and repaint it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
You just can’t pass up a good deal. Nice repair Steve. Gary
You got that right! working on the next video about another great deal at the auction for something else that I didn't need. Thanks for watching and commenting.
By the title I expected you to be making screwey balls
That’s Chuck’s thing. I will let him have it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Need a couple of rubber washers on there before you set it with Loctite.
I thought about that and was going to say something about it. I have some heavy "O" rings that I may try. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I think I have the cutter for that ball size, and it just so happens that I live close to you in Howell TWP. I would like to meet you someday.
Sounds like a plan. Email me; sharkrivermachine@gmail.com. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@sharkrivermachine I tried e-mailing you steve but was unable with the e-mail you gave me here.

Yes you do have an excuse... Its been 1000 degrees in NJ with high humidity...... No way you can work in the shop without A/C
I has been a little uncomfortable, that is for sure. Been a lazy summer for me. Thank you for hanging in there and watching my video.
What is the name of this hardware store?
It is; www.sensenig-hardware.com. I have a travel trailer on a permanent site in a campground close to it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
