It's a major compliment if a GM asks your rating after a game like this. Well Played!
If the GM it's Hikaru, it's even better.
@@amigosXcorrespondenc *is
After Hikaru heard he has 2400's rating on Lichess, now make sense why he so good even tho he is not a professional chess player.
@@shakezpere He said 2200 not 2400, which is even more impressive.
A super gm top 10 player too lmao
I love how Hikaru always looks legitimately proud of his opponents when theyâre playing good moves, itâs such a sign of humility
Was going to write similar. Cheers!
That Rc3 was such a good find. Hikaru completely missed that move. If that kid didn't find Rc3, he would have been blown off the board very quickly after that.
Thatâs the opposite of humility. But keeping simping for him
I wouldn't call it humility but Hikaru is happy when his opponents do well, knowing how happy they will be just playing a great game against a GM. They probably tell that story for many years.
@@BroCactus u have no brain cells if u think thats the opposite of humility
Imagine being just 2200 on lichess, randomly playing a world class chess player at a park and then playing the game of your life like youâre a GM. And it was caught on camera. đłđłđđđđđ bravo!!!
Isn't 2200 good tho?
@@robertwilson3866 but is a online elo. I mean its a decent elo but that in original ranking maybe its lower idk
@@robertwilson3866 It's very low compared to Hikaru's rating but it's a lot for unrated player. It's around Candidate Master level.
I was pretty surprised at that because I average around 2100 on lichess and felt like he was finding much better moves than I was seeing in the time he took to make them. I would have guessed about 2500 blitz from his play.
Yes Iâm imagining just being 2200. Have you imagined being just 2200?
That was a great game!
Coach him, Hikaru!
Hikaru needs a coach
stop it
i got a question about this position termometer ... isnt it that that it shows a position strength from a perspective of one player only? i mean if player could make move that increases its termometer score it lies as to strength of position (as if you may make a move in that position than increases it then it lies) .. so not to lie this termomenter should show a position score that cannot be improved .. but if so isnt if from one player point ov wiev only? (im a bit lost in my logic at this moment)
@@johnstone5766 The thermometer is called the evaluation bar, and it works by a computer calculating X (usually 20 or 30) moves into the future, based on how the board is currently. As such, it doesn't represent how good one player is, it represents the advantage one player has, assuming both players play perfectly. The bar is negative if black is winning, and positive if white has an advantage.
For example, let's say it's early in the game, and the bar is at +0.8. White is in the lead here, as white usually is by being able to go first, and that evaluation means the absolute best move by white will maintain that 0.8 advantage. If white makes the perfect move, it's now black's turn and will still show +0.8. Any move that black makes will, at best, keep it at +0.8 as the computer has already calculated all of these responses.
If white makes a huge mistake, and gives away a bishop for free, that gauge will go from +0.8 to like -3 as the computer realizes black can just take the bishop and gain a huge tactical advantage.
If Hikaru calls you a genius, youâre certified.
He called him no genius
Anyway good game
@@gonzalovila99 Yup but I assume he just typed the title :)

"No my friend"
It's absolutely incredible to me that he doesn't have a FIDE rating, but he played a great game against one of the top three players _in the world_ and the evaluation was *dead even* after 40 moves.
That kid has a gift.
The problem is that to have rating you need money. Hooe this video helped him having a sponsor or at least to be noted. He deserves to play real chess.
@@MrMarcec85
One more example of an unjust world that is so often, as the saying goes, "sad but true."
Chess has historically been a pay to play a game, and while it's true that the internet has made it more accessible for people to learn and play, that has regrettably had no real effect on the excessive costs involved surrounding the ordeal of live tournament chess.
Without money, one simply can't compete equally. It's a shame that talent is so evenly distributed when wealth is anything but.
You make a great point, as much as I wish you were wrong (as I'm sure that you do, yourself). Cheers.

Love how in one of the most intense tournament, the GMs are still going out casually to play everyone.
Casual blitz is relaxation time for Hikaru at this point. He must stretch his concentration to the limits agains Nepo, Fabi etc. Firouzja said that he was playing bullet at night during the candidates. Not wise maybe to give up sleep.
That kid has no idea what a compliment it was from Hikaru, when he said gg that time he meant it there was humility and contemplation in it... Great game guys.
That kid played veery well
How do you know that he didn't know?
There was a gentle breeze and the warmth of the sun touched their cheeks. . . . good game, guys.
@@robert93mm probably in some sort of vicarious way thru CZcams? Idk
@@robert93mm I know Hikaru isn't overt in his praise or humility it's hard to read that from him. It's subtle but it's there and if you didn't know him it's easy to miss.
Hikaru has been entertaining both on and off the board . Playing titled Tuesday and random chess enthusiasts on rest days . The other guy was pretty good though .
yeah
I'm also 2200 on lichess but this guy would have stomped me like an insect in that game. Not only because I don't know the h3 line in Najdorf but also how he calculated rather quickly what seem to be the best moves in the mid game. Well played.
I'm 1900 blitz lichess and he seemed more like 2400 blitz to me...
He said he is 3200 I think
i am also 3300 it was not easy for me either
â@hasancebi5203 if you are 3300 what are you doing here talking to amatuers
â@@ericm4426cause he's LYING
The fact he kept it even for the majority of the game against a super GM is a feat in itself
This game might inspire him to reach GM status
To be fair, Hikaru was just playing casually, not really forcing anything. He was also well ahead on the clock.
I mean, these days he is beating 2400s sacrificing the queen for a bishop so if he was really forcing there's no way somebody in a park would keep up.
This is not to take anything from the guy, he played really well for the majority of the match. I think I would blunder from the emotions alone, playing Hikaru on the board.
@@alex86firelol this guy had a better move accuracy than hikaru. He might only be 2200 but he played a 93% accuracy here according to stockfish eval, whilst hikaru played 91% accuracy. The game finished in a drawn position. If not for time flagging, say if this was a +3 like most online chess, thereâs a good chance the kid at the very least gets a draw. For the record stockfish 16 eval says that if he plays as accurate as he has been, he should actually win this game. You can say hikaru wasnât taking it serious, but 91% accuracy is pretty serious lol. He just faced a worthy adversary here
Hikaru was careless when he moved the knight back to defend his bishop after trading queens. After Rd3 threatening an exchange sacrifice Black has no real chance to win.
Hikaru is just living for the content at this point.
Super dedicated hard working streamer

Hikaru went to candidates just for the chance to record this exact video. đ

LMAO Hikaru looks up during official games, its him remembering his prep, but this time looking up to avoid showing it
Easily avoided prep on move 1 by playing Sicilian. He only plays the Berlin defence against 1.e4 in the candidates so far.
Yea, he won't play the Sicilian in the candidates, according to one of his videos.
nobody likes preppers
nah it's the opposite. He's manipulating the other candidates watching.
Great game. You could just see the extra class begin to tell the further the game went along... the end game is where it really shows. That young man can be very proud of his game.
what an amazing game from a complete stranger. You could tell when Hikaru actually needed to start taking it a bit more seriously

This was really fun to watch both the eval bar and the faces of the players as the advantage swung back and forth. Hikaru consistently amused at the positions and his opponent starting strong, losing faith then bouncing back and finding joy at getting a decent, playable position in the endgame.
I thought he would fall apart when they hit the endgame, but he kept going. Capitalized on Hikaru's blunder with that tension in the center of the board and then seemed to lose his way when he hit time pressure. That's one he's going to want to remember. Well done, anonymous Spanish genius!

I like how Hikaru concentrates more as the game develops , as he realuses the guy is playing to win đ
This was an awesome game! I love the âcoffee chessâ games although this is more park chess, itâs still really cool to see this! Although if his timer hadnât run out, am I right in thinking that endgame is probably a draw, with opposite colored bishops and rooks with those pawns, or could he make a passed pawn?
Clarification: despite being a pawn up
It should be winning for black but not an easy endgame. I am pretty sure though that Hikaru would have won it against the guy
It was winning for black but even if it was a draw with perfect play, unless you are a super gm you cannot hang out with them in an endgame. They have an incredibly vast amount of knowledge there from books, and long grueling studies. They make no mistakes. The guy, while a good 2200, would be simply outclassed. That is why the worst thing to do against a super gm is liquidate the position to an endgame.
@@moonbalancedd They do make mistakes, or they make inaccuracies, especially in a blitz game. The problem is that those "mistakes" aren't so unless you're also a supergm that can spot why they are mistakes and how to take advantage of them
Stockfish was around +6 for black at the end so I assume with perfect play by both sides Hiki probably would of won đ€·
@@Gaspa79 they do make inaccuracies. but those die down the more and more the game becomes theoretical which is what happens in an endgame. They even have theoretical piece and pawn structures memorized at the end. Look up something like Troitsky line to see how deep of theory they have at their fingertips and see if you want to hang out with that in an endgame.
Hikaru become my favourite chess player, because he is so down to earth. As a super GM he is do not hesitate to play in any casual chess park games, and always do it seriously in fun way, never undermine his opponents
