All that sounds good but what are they doing about the health care system ? when are they going to build new modern facilities and pay the doctors and other health care workers good salaries so they can retain these workers and thus prevent them from running off to greener pastures? The health care system in Jamaica is in a diplorable condition only because the politicians in charge dont use thses facilities .When they get sick they run off to Miami or other places.

Jamaica is far too small to be compared with Brazil in terms of the kind of super projects with grand size that they can develop because their country is so big and they do have a pretty good manufacturing base in which to develop those things too. Just because Jamaica is a very well known Island and is a household name around the world it doesn't mean it is in anyway an enconomic power or has the size to really make very huge projects like Brazil, US, China, Germany, Japan, France, UK or Canada could.

None of these projects belong to Jamaicans or will really benefit us financially. If we ever had a country, its slipping away FAST. In 50 years, real Jamaicans will be gone. Important to understand that I am not against development that make sense however, ordinary Jamaicans must also be at the top of the list for development and prosperity. We need to see much better investments in spiritual and moral development, far better healthcare, waste management, water supply to local neighborhoods. Great crime reduction through major economic upliftment and education, not via prisons and executions. We know that Jamaica should be a first-class nation, but this is elusive due to the exploitation of the land and people for hundreds of years by careless robber Barons. Success for a few Barons at the expense of the majority, is not success. Ordinary Jamaicans are in a state of hurt currently with no end in sight and it's not for lack of trying. Infrastructure development without people development will do more harm than good for Jamaicans both home and away. Ordinary Jamaicans DESERVE a real stake in our land because it was, and is through our people's SLAVERY, blood, sweat and tears, great hardship and mental breakdowns that create a Jamaica that everyone worldwide are so attracted to now.

Surely all these projects helps economically more jobs which means more opportunities along with better roads that will allow you to travel from one place to the other in a shorter space of time. If the job e.g. is in Kingston and you live an hour train ride away you could stay in your rural home and travel to these jobs. Every project offers jobs people are not coming from abroad to take these jobs because the salary for them to leave for instance Canada or the USA is not comparable. Jamaicans need to haul themselves into the present and take the opportunities that are presented to them. Highways are being built why don't some Jamaicans get together and get gas station franchises along the highway for example they need to have vision and stop expecting things to be handed to them when a foreigner comes and takes the opportunity how can anybody complain.

@@deloressmith7926 No dignified Jamaican want a handout from anyone so please don't insult us. It's well known in Jamaica that government and large financial institutions are less favorable to Jamaican small business people than they are to especially white or near white foreigners. Low paying jobs and fancy highways does not elevate the average Jamaican. What we need to see from government, is investment partnerships that result in increased income for Jamaica that can then be reinvested into real social and business development for the average Jamaican. The minimum wage in Jamaica is less than US $3.00, WHILE Jamaicans have to buy everything priced based on average prices in America. Shitty low paying dead end jobs will not elevate us out of poverty while foreigners are enjoying our country to all the joy of their hearts. The Chinese and Indians have taken over our retail sector pushing Jamaicans out of business. They buy up foreign exchange causing the Jamaican dollar to devalue everyday. The Jamaica government set fare control on local independent transport operators in order to provide cheap transportation to workers of the foreign corporations. Jamaica is a SLAVE COLONY, and nothing has changed for the average Jamaican since Jamaica was colonized by the Spanish and British.
