    The Pinnacle will be Jamaica's architectural luxury real estate marvel. It will boast the four tallest buildings not only in Jamaica but in the Caribbean standing tall with four 28 story towers. I had the chance to speak with both the sales and marketing leader, Dominique Silvera, and the lead architect on the project, Isiah Madden. Their stories on joining the project are incredible and they are ultimately the right people for the job. One of the unique aspects of The Pinnacle is the leadership team. It is an all female all Jamaican leadership team. In this interview I explore this in detail. I also had a chance to meet the CEO of The Pinnacle, Yangsen Li, who joined us on the site tour. This was a really great one that I enjoyed putting together for you

    • @CBM902Q
      @CBM902Q Před 13 dny +2

      The problem is that most Jamaicans are very money-obsessed. Because of that, they become impatient with money. Which leads some to robbery. Jamaica doesn't have a creative mind society. Very few, the majority or not. People tend to do the same as everyone else. For example, taxi. The average Jamaican thinks of buying cars on hire purchase to run taxis which is very competitive in the country. No one did think about an island-wide coach service which is very effective in Jamaica. It takes people from overseas to go Jamaica and do different businesses which the locals never thought of doing. This tells that Jamaica society is not very creative thinking with cleverness behind the creativity. There are so many ways people could be earning in the country. However, people are lacking ideas and instant money-making. Put in the interest and the passion behind whatever the business is then the money will follow behind.

      The Caribbean is not black continent (or whatever it is)
      The Caribbean was colonised by white Europeans from the indigenous Indian tribes. Slaves (of black African descent)were transported to the Caribbean to ‘work’
      Somewhere between the ending of the Caribbean slave trade or just before, Indians and Chinese came over, were given land (for free) and continued the work of the slaves for payment (and free land)
      Because of this history, the Caribbean is racially diverse. It doesn’t belong to black people. It doesn’t belong to anyone.
      Africa is a completely different subject.

    Excellent presentation Throp, one of your best in both production & the depth of the information. The Pinnacle is truly groundbreaking and attractively designed.
    I appreciated ALL the interviews and was particularly thrilled to learn about the architect's EXTENSIVE impact on North Coast construction. I knew of the projects mentioned (like the massive Princess) but had no idea Isiaa had a hand in so many! No wonder she exudes such quiet confidence. It's a great legacy, especially being a Montegonian herself.
    It also demonstrates the role of investment in providing opportunities for Jamaican professionals. She wouldn't have designed all those RIUs if RIU hadn't come. And clearly RIU desired an authentic Jamaican touch for the design of their Jamaican resorts, so they sought a local architect.

    the key to the success of this project is how well ;how effective the Chinese technology is in stabilizing the foundations of those 28 story buildings on what seems to be a sand bank......

    • @chantelofeast
      @chantelofeast Před 3 měsíci +7

      Piles aren’t specifically Chinese, they are a standard structural engineering feature which are secured to the bedrock wayyyyy below and sand and soil. The taller the building, the deeper / frequently placed the piles will be.
      They’ve not mentioned it but, the tower will have been designed to withstand particular degrees of wind & tectonic movement.
      You’re not wrong, I’d add, the key to design, engineering and construction success is the quality assurance process and delivery.

It's awesome to see three beautiful women at the helm of this project, they are setting the foundation for our future up and coming little girls who will dear to break the patriarchal glass ceilings. The only drawback is; the Jamaicans will not be able to afford this luxury property,even those in the diaspora. Its geared towards the affluent class. Nonetheless,it wiil avail more jobs. Btw,as a suggesti, they should consider building a health facility on the property and work out the logistics to include Practitioners at a cost,rather than having to fly out.
