My favourite thing about thrawn is the way he leads. His subordinates aren't afraid to ask him why he's doing something and he isn't concerned about having to explain it. He doesn't punish questions, he answers.
Thrawn actually welcomes and appreciates questions because he recognizes that is how people learn and improve.

The old EU is what reminds of how much I still love Star Wars deep down. I'll be honest, I don't really enjoy the movies anymore. I enjoy the stuff outside the movies a lot more and will argue that it is better than the films themselves and i will die on that hill. Disney canon is garbage, the Disney Era of Star Wars is just awful.

You'll notice legends had a lot more care and realism with the NR and the imperial remnant. Whereas disney had to shoehorn in dumb reasons to rationalize how the galaxy was empire vs a rebellion again because JJ has no ideas.
This specifically, this whole series, FEELS like Star Wars in a way Disney could never replicate
The planet Sluis Van is actually quite underrated, considering its great importance in the Lore. To begin with, the attack on said planet by the Sith was one of the main reasons for the defeat of the Old Republic in the Great Galactic War (as the Timeline miniseries narrated by Lance Henriksen recounts). Aside from its later importance in the Clone and Civil Wars, the planet was crucial to the survival of the New Republic during the Yuuzhan Vong Wars.
So artfully done. I am quite looking forward to the battle of Sluis Van.

Ahsoka ep 5 was trash, young Ahsoka looked awful, the whole flashback took place in a cloud of dust, and no clone wars actors’s voices were dubbed over the characters, especially Ashley for Ahsoka, worst Dave ever, pure nostalgia bait…

DarthAngelus, I must say that you managed to revive my childhood feelings in me, when there was cable and I was anxious to see the next episode of favorite series and needed to wait for it for a week-two-three. Becoming an adult and having a lot on my plate I've somehow lost this excitement towards movies. But your work - that's something else. I'm grateful for your work and your heart that you put into it. And grateful for these feelings. It's quite thrilling ;-)
Separately I really like how you portray the Grand Admiral Thrawn. This is how I always imagined him (unlike in the Rebels series). Kudos to the voice actor too! Magnificent job! You guys just give the wonderful subtlety to his character, that I admire.

What was wrong with Thrawn in Rebels?
There's nothing wrong with the Thrawn in Rebels, if you going to bring up "he shouldn't have kept Konstantine. Do consider that the fleet Thrawn was running was not his own. So he expected as you are aware of them to listen. Chances are he didn't expect purgils, Bendu, nor
Konstantine especially him to do something, the reason he assigned Konstatine to the Interdictor is that he believed and was putting faith that Konstantine would remain there. If you referring to the TIE Ace. Thrawn told the ACE to break off intent was that Hera's ship would lose shields and the TIE/Defender ace would simply kill Hera. But a cocky Ace, an Admiral clearly both did not trust and looked down at Thrawn seeing him as someone who did not deserve his rank. A lot of this is explained in the prequel comic of his character which was drawn in every sense of the word but a bit more caring just not to the fullest extent.
I'm btw not defending the writing just pointing it out from an observation point of view.

Doh! I got hoodwinked by the fireflies on the hull in the video. It looked like the hull was semi transparent, and the starfield was visible through it.
I confused the raid on the Sluis Van shipyards for his sneak under the planetary shield trick.
And what Thrawn said about cloaking devices. That's what confuses me about Star Trek cloaking devices; how the double-blind aspect is avoided.
Were we supposed to see anything in that scene other than the Star Destroyer and that other ship?
I cannot get enough of this stuff! It's so damn good. This is the TRUE cannon, what Disney is doing butchering star wars is nothing compared what Darth Angelus is doing.

I always liked that scene where "nothing happens" with the cloak. Had an air of mystery in the book that you capture well here.
It's such a small thing, but seeing Whistler made me grin like an idiot.

Grand Admiral Thrawn’s footprint in the Star Wars universe is going to get A LOT larger when he makes his live-action debut in the Ahsoka series. But we “in the know” get to enjoy the best version of this top-tier villain RIGHT HERE.

I’m happy for ANY good Star Wars when we get it. Disney Star Wars, with the exception of Rebels, Rogue One, and Mando S1/2, was A Mistake. Ahsoka will likely fall into the “exception” category.
This isn't meant as a slight to you, but I don't care about Thrawn's appearance in the Ahsoka series on anything else Disney produces. They stopped a very good EU book series for pure rubbish!
@@SJHFoto No offense taken! Disney screwed the Bantha with The Sequel Trilogy. Fandom is pretty-much unified on that point. We DID get a watered-down Thrawn in SW Rebels. Not unwatchable by any means. It was a kid’s show watched with enthusiasm by grown-ups. In Ahsoka, they can portray Thrawn closer to how he was in the Thrawn Trilogy. He’s a grown-up’s villain. The kind who doesn’t know he’s the “bad guy”, and the kind who will triumph over good every time GOOD is STUPID. And the kind of villain who probably deserves to WIN. And the kind of villain whose motivations we sort of agree with.
Let’s see what Disney does with live-action Thrawn.

This episode was especially well done (they're all well done, don't get me wrong!). Maybe I should say it left me with the best impression yet. That image of Thrawn standing on the bridge of the ISD with the space/fleet panorama in the background was EXACTLY how I pictured it back when I read the book in 1991. Thats why i always say Zahn wrote the book like movie. We already had such images from ESB, for example, all one had to do was picture that white uniformed officer on the bridge. And it worked.

I just found this today and watched everything. To me, with very few the exceptions, the Star Wars franchise has really suffered. As a super fan of all the books that are basically no longer canon, this is just amazing! This is all we ever wanted. We didn't need the Rey saga. Disney needs to stop, all the stories are there in the books, just follow them. Thank you so much for your hard work!

I’ve read the whole Trilogy in Hardback and still have it. Yes, there are things that do not match what I imagined: Mara Jade talks and acts differently than I imagined. But the dialogue is still the same, or close to it. I can hardly wait for Chapter 28!

Very nice, but I have a serious question: besides riffing off the Empire Strikes Back, why did you have the Star Destroyer go into shadow at the beginning? In TESB this was to show how the Super StarDestroyer was so much overwhelmingly bigger than the Imperial class
