Splash is just so OP that they just multiplied its damage by zero
It could be used to psyche somebody out if they use protect, detect, or any attack blocking moves but that's the only thing I can think of for it in use.
*soOoOoOooooOooooo
About Buneary, it's the only non-legendary pokemon with a base friendship of zero, meaning that Bunneary immediately upon capture would benefit the most from this move.
Splash can't be used when Gravity is in effect because the move is called "Hop" in Japanese, which also why HOPpip can use it.
Splash was made so Magikarp could be useless, yet not force it to use Struggle.
+Josh B really magikarp will kill you when he evolves
It really would've been awesome if Splash was made to have like a .1% chance to do like 200 damage
Nick94956 but most Pokemon have more than 200 health
Still, Splash doesn't even do anything. Getting 200 dmg out of that would be a miracle.
I personally never liked the moves that do a certain amount of damage, such as sonic boom. While it can come in handy early on in your game it soon just becomes useless when your opponents HP is higher.
"All of the Pokemon who learn bestow learn toxic"
Yeah, 99% of all Pokemon can learn toxic...
1:38 You better not let the Genwunners hear that.
Hold Hands isn't on the list? Hold Hands is a super forgotten move, and it has no effect. So it's practically splash with a different name.
KinoFire I didn't even know there is such an attack as holding hands :D. Seems like I don't know many of the attacks :D.
KinoFire Don't forget Celebrate.... (it's just another Splash)
Cuz it's funny. Same with splash and celebrate. They're just there for comedic effect.
+KinoFire eh, hold hands is just a non serious feel good move.
I've Heard Of Helping Hand, But Not This
Cannot agree MORE with Water Sport and Mud Sport. Always hated those moves except when an opponent uses them haha.
Present not only does it have a chance of not doing damage it may heal the opponent.
"You would really have to go out of your way to make your Pokemon hate you to the core" 😂 lol
I had a Wild Chansey give me a free Lucky Egg with Bestow.
This was a great video dude! Keep up the awesome! :D
Mud Sport and Water Sport are my go-to moves for Gen 3 cuteness contests. High appeal, and they make an appeal combo that nets LOADS of score!
i dont play a lot of pokemon but this video was still very entertaining!! Nice job!!!
I love this guy's voice :D
Another interesting top 10 there Malik. :)
Dang I really like your channel! Subbed :)
You make the best life choices!
Celebrate is the worst move. It's an event move that literally consists of your Pokemon wishing you a happy birthday. So, basically it's a copy of splash that you have to go out of your way to get.
I feel rolling kick is actually rather underrated because of how versatile it is. There are only four pokemon that can learn it, Hitmonlee, Hitmontop, the Machop line and Elekid line, and most of them actually have something about them that makes the move useable. Hitmonlee has the speed advantage, Hitmontop gets the technician boost, and the Machop line gets the no guard ability, which bypasses the 85% accuracy check and when given a jolly nature and/or a choice scarf, it can be the ultimate troll.
I just watched your 6 scariest things rare ware games for the conker I thought about banjo kazooi and it made me super happy
"The user and an ally hold hands. This makes them very happy."
Hold hands. It's like splash I guess even worse.
GreenHaze4 it's good as a z move though
Every new video makes my day.
I love how Z-Splash raises your attack (drastically I believe but I'm only 70% sure ) in Pokemon Sun/Moon and still is pretty useless
Announcer: "What's the POINT of Splash? "
LOL!
Gen 6 made some even worse moves... "Hold Hands" and "Celebrate". I guess that's cute and all but they don't do anything at all...
Immediate thumbs up for the Earthworm Jim music at the start. 💯
that countdown pretty much sums it up, but i had never before heard of bestow, and i don't play competetively
Awesome a new video on my birthday. Great video man. Also, don't forget to do another Nintendo E3 reaction video with your brother.
I won't forget. Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday
Great video, though I'm surprised that "Present" didn't make the list (and it sucks had bad it is, cos I love Delibird as a concept)
Great vid!
really great video
You know what move really should be on this list? Rock Smash.
Base 20 attack in Gen 2 and 3 (40 in later games) but it's an HM. I feel like the saving grace with a lot of the moves on the list is that you can very easily avoid having to play with them. Splash? Sure it's bad, but few pokemon learn it and it usually gets replaced pretty fast. Things like bestow and quash? You can play through the entire game and never see the moves USED, much less decide to use them.
What puts Rock Smash on my shit list is that since it clears obstacles in the overworld, you are PROBABLY going to have a pokemon with it and if you're playing Gen 2 or 3, it's got barely more BP than constrict. I could argue that it not having HM status in Gen 2 actually makes it worse, since its needed to get to certain areas, and once you use your Rock Smash TM, its gone. If you get rid of that pokemon or get rid or rock smash you're SOL on getting certain items and possibly even certain legendary pokemon.
In other games, because it's an HM you're stuck with an attack that does generally less damage than tackle for the entire game, taking up a move slot on one of your pokemon. With other moves like cut, it falls out of use around mid game, just about the time when the attack itself stops being effective and when you start to get more useful HMs like Strength and Surf.
In short, Rock Smash is such bullshit. In my list, it's got to be the worst move, just because you know that before the end of the game, someone is going to have to learn it.
Frustration is bound to be on any "worst moves" list. It's kind of funny that an attack that could have over 100 attack power, and 100% accurate, would be one of the worst moves in the game.
Great video, didnt know id like it that much. Oh! And id love for you to use a face cam when you react to E3 anouncements, i want to see your face :(
Sorry, but I don't got no facecam. :(
***** What about "Swagger"? I believe that deserves a spot on the list!
KJ no because swagger raises the attack and the when you are confused and your attack is high
you attack yourself even harder
KJ Swagger is GENIOUS! If you do it on a pokemon who only uses special attack, you raise it's attack stat sharply for no use for the pokemon, and it will attack itself in confusion harder because of it!
You can use swagger on yourself in a double battle and have the Pokemon who it was used on hold a persim berry to cure that confusion and have more attacking power.
#10 frustration prevents ditto from copying your stats and attacking you with return. #9 focus energy with kingdra is unreal.
I love your videos!!!
who else read "Top 10 Worst Pokémon Movies"?
I did
I did, and it was the reason I clicked on this video.
Love the intro.
I have a memory of using splash, and it actually did something, but my mind might be just be playing tricks on me.
I thought the same.... Maybe a glitch?
Mystery dungeon games?
Great video as usual, and I can't wait for the rest of Pokémonth. Just one question, at 6:20- where does that extra "g" come from?
AW CRAP I DIDN'T SEE THAT
***** Lurn 2 spel nuurd
Jake Goldinger i think you should
its an "r"
Closey Roy I really hope you're joking...
Great vid, keep it up!
Btw, almost every Pokemon can learn toxic :P
Ngl I first thought Seismic Toss would do 100% of your enemy pokemon's health at Level 100
That is actually a very good list.
Water sport was actually used in Ubers with Kyogre since it applies on top of any weather condition. So if you lose the effect of rain, it still applies.
i have learn't something here, the move that gen 6 introduced were apparently boss.
if not could you please do a list of the moves from the gen 6 because i only know 3 that are good (nuzzle, moonblast and dazzling gleam
Is the lavender town music in this video? Just wondering cuz i'm scared of it
As far as bestow goes, maybe Game Freak thought it would be a good idea to give the player access to a very low level item switching move so that they could experiment with such strategies at a low level. This would be like learning how to use psychic moves with confusion before using the much more powerful move psychic by having the player learn how to strategize around manipulating their opponent's held items with bestow before using much more effective moves like switcheroo and trick.
Great video! However, did you consider present for this list? I ask this because well... It can heal the opponent.
Everybody knows only the coldest of killers can use Splash. That's why Feebas and Magikarp have blank looks. You'd be apathetic too, after seeing so much blood spilled from your enemies.
surprise is a move from gen 6 that only for an event sylveon it doesn't do anything just the sylveon poping out of a gift box and saying "surprice!" and that's it
I was surprised that you didn't have celebrate on this list.
Can you try doing a "worst abilities" list?
Also, great work!
I would love to see one of those!!
I know, right?
Dale Smith
A Bc Yes?
Truant and Slow Start would definitely make the list
"Every Pokemon that learns bestow can also lean toxic." There are like 4 Pokemon that CANT learn toxic
Bestow could be viable if it is learned by a pokemon who also learns knock off or having another pokemon on your party who knows it because competitively you could knock off an enemies item and then replace with either a choice item or have a pokemon with poison heal give them a toxic orb and then use bestow on the enemy pokemon but I don't know if a pokemon that has toxic heal could learn bestow
Memento kills yourself to half the opponents attack stats, when they could just switch out.
sounds like #10 would be perfect for Rusty (the character from Dorkly's video abt pokemon) since his pokemon "Pikachu" the Beedrill hates him so much it tries to kill him all the time
Focus energy is cool when used with absol/kingdra with razor claw/fang. Absol has lots of moves that have a high change of crit and kingdra has sniper :)
Bestow can give an extra item to your partner. After a Sitrus or Sash proc, then Bestow another Sitrus! Situational, yes, but still usable. The Flabebe line's HA can also do this
HOW could Rock Smash and Cut not be on here?! :'D
I would have put present, teleport and memento on this list
Memento can be good situationally. . . Very situationally. . .
Frustration can be useful when you first catch Buneary, then replace it with Return when the move becomes less useful.
3:45
Memento can be extremely useful for belly drummers coming in safely. It either forces a switch or forces them to deal a horrific amount of damage. It shouldn't have even been considered for this countdown. :[
these videos will be awesome on the weekly basis
splash was actually good for pokemon contests on gen 3. if i remember it was a favorable move for cuteness and gave 4 hearts out of 5
When I heard about the rumor of splash while underwater I thought that was, you known, logical. Then I found out that "splash" is a misstranslation. The move name is " はねる" which means "hop". That's why Hoppin and Buneary can learn it.
“Heck if you jumble the letters around in barrage you get the word garbage”
Not quite, you’re still missing a G...but yeah you right
Btw bud, constrict was actually really good in gen 1! Especially on like a dragonite. But in every game afterwards it suckeddd
I would say heal pluse sure its useful in double battles since it can heal you ally but the amount of rage I had when I first used this move is 100 so yeah
In Gen 6, Focus Energy brings your attacks up to at least 50% crit chance. If you use a move with "high critical hit ratio" on top of that or equip Scope Lens, you always crit. "Slightly more viable" is a bit of an understatement. :/
For number 2 splash is supposed to be a joke move. It's also supposed to teach us patients, because when you get that magikarp to level 20 with some... different training styles, you're rewarded with a powerful dragon-like pokèmon. TheAuraGuardian also talked about this in HIS video, so honestly, I think splash should be lower on this list
Bestow is one of those moves I wanted to use as item shenaningas were funny until they made mega stones and buffed Knock Off. But no matter how hard I think, it's just not worth it. If it had harmful or benefical effect added to it, like healing, status removal, added effect based on item or,some damage, it could be nice gimmick. Also if it actually replaced enemy's item, even mega stone maybe, I could see some use for it. Third option is replicating your item, thus giving you option to spread sitrus or lum berry in doubles, or maybe even status or iron ball for enemies. Actually, add two last buffs and you could potentially ruin whole enemy team with iron ball or flame orb or even ring target, which I think was made for bestow. It still wouldn't be op as pokemon using it still suffers same effect, but that would at least make it viable in competitive scene
- Frustration has some niche use: it's more powerful when you get it on a freshly traded pokemon, as the base friendship is 70. And some mons, like Bunneary and Lopunny, have base 0 friendship. it's also useful against dittos, who can't use frustration cause they're probably max happiness. some people even run it on their doubles kangas so it can't be Imprisoned. it is a annoyingly high maintenance move, though, so most people just go for return.
- Quash sableye is a thing, especially since it allow slow bulky attackers to deal massive damage before they get ko'd. but yeah, only useful in doubles.
i think a bad move in gen 6 is fairy lock. only klefki learns it, and all it does is prevent all pokemon from switching. for the next turn only.
Ever heard of the move Guillotine my bisharp just learned and its pretty great
The one use Bestow has is that you can give an item like a Ring Target which lets you hit pokemon that would be immune to your moves. That's still kind of pointless, though. Most pokemon have ways of getting around these restrictions (ie. many normal types learn dark moves like Bite that let them fight ghost types) and even if you can't find a way to make it work, you can always just switch to a pokemon that CAN hit the enemy.
Trick is more viable IMO.
Splash, Hold Hands, and Celebrate are all good for stalling, like if you need to Flail or something
Frustration and Quash can be quite well. Quash is good for Murkrow in doubles (I've won battles with it), and frustration is actually objectively better in battle (even if it is hell to get it to work outside of battle). See, if a ditto transforms into your frustration user, it will do FAR less damage.
3:43 : was that during a pokestar movie?
You pretty much achieve the exact same thing using Trick when your opponent has no item and you have as Bestow I believe. Maybe next gen they will buff bestow to become replacing the opponent's current held item with the item that gets bestowed upon your opponent.
7th gen, Mimikyu made splash useful for once. yessss i know this video came out long before that.
I remember when my Togepi learned Bestow and I didn't know what it did and I didn't check what it did so I used it on a wild Drifblim and my Togepi happened to be holding a Lucky egg and I only had 1 quick ball and... well... yeah
y do u have mario kart double dash music between every number???
Actually, stacked totodile rage in gen 2 was pretty effective.
Also sweet scent and defog.
Sweet Scent has an effect outside of battle. A very useful effect.
Not outside of gen 6, all it did was attract a Pokémon. And if you wanted to get a Pokémon in the safari zone without taking steps, you could just turn in place.
Adam Rox Defog is amazing in CP.
worst move is gift (delibird's signature move) it has low base power and has a 20% chance of healing the enemy!
meant present not gift
Present can actually be decent if used correctly. Azumarill with Camoflauge and Belly Drum can actually make really good use of it if you get the 120% power roll, or even the 80%. Just not the heal or 40%
Holy shit rolling kick. I've not seen it since gen 2
They laughed at my splash attack, so I splashed in their blood.
Even then, the audio quality is on point.
What about present?
just curious, anyone know where I can find a Gliscor? they look awesome
One time in 1st Gen RBY, I got caught in an infinite loop because both my Charmeleon and the opponent's Onix used Rage in the same turn and both pkmn missed. This caused them both to keep using Rage and miss each other. I could not do anything except soft reset the GB and start the fight again. It's was from then on that I decided to never used the move Rage ever again.
Yikes.
Focus energy is amazing in a pokemon that has the sniper ability and holding an item that ups the critical hit ratio. 100% critical hit.
Present used by delibird had a 20% chance to heal your opponent.
Actually, you could theoretically use bestow to replace items that have been used up by your Pokemon during a double battle. For example, if your Xerneas used its power herb, and you needed to switch it out for some reason afterwards, you could have a Pokemon waiting to Bestow another one, even if that Pokemon would be worthless otherwise. Alternatively, you could use it to get past the one item limit found in the competitive circuits, and have your Blissey or Chansey learn both Bestow and Recycle, allowing you to have multiple Eviolites with a Chansey and multiple Leftovers with a Blissey.
TL;DR: They do have an EXTREMELY situational use, replacing or replicating items.
This is assuming that you can recycle items that have been bestowed, I've never tried it before, but I might try it now...
10: I guess it’s only useful at a low level when you have not used your Pokémon that much. However, it doesn’t take long before you should replace it
9: Yup, they really messed it up there. I also agree that you shouldn’t rely on luck anyway, which is one of the reasons I don’t like that Critical Hits is determined by luck now instead of Speed; with the latter, you could at least formulate strategies
8: Great animation, but it takes too long time before it’s actually useful, and almost every damaging Psychic-type moves is more reliable, even Confusion.
7: Didn’t know about it until I started watching these kinds of videos, but it sounds way too situational.
6: Yes, whenever a wild Pokémon uses it, I always think “Ok, what was the point of that?”
5: Most multi-hit moves seem unreliable, but this seems to be the worst of them
4: Yup, quickly stopped learning my Pokémon that move
3: Don’t understand why that move even exists.
2: Probably one of the most infamous moves of all time, but it’s also a bit amusing to see the opposing Pokémon use it.
1: Also didn’t know about the move until I started watching “Worst moves”-videos, but I guess the only time it’s useful is when you use it on a Pokémon that knows Acrobatics, which is way too situational. Otherwise, it's pretty much useless
I think Focus Energy is kinda cool because you can easily reach 100% crit chance with it and some items/abillities.
The whole reason why it was one here was because of gen 1 mechanics.
Memento: Kills user, decreasing opponent stats in the procces, instead of dealing massive damage. This move is as situational as bestow, and if the opponent is hit by it, they can do a switch 2 get rid of the effect.
splash was originally going to be called hump that's why its a normal move in ruby but America and England didn't allow it to be called that so it was changed to splash
My least favorite kinds of moves are those that damage your Pokémon. I don't care how powerful it is against the opponent, I'd never do anything that I know will damage my Pokémon. But the most useless moves ever? The ones that benefit your opponent! Which is why bestow is so stupid. Why would you want to give them your item?!
Use knock off then use bestow to give them a harmful item such as a flame orb, toxic orb, heck, even a choice item can mess people up
Firstly, Trick is more viable then the Knock Off/Bestow, and no pokemon can learn both moves. Also, the moves that damage your pokemon do a great amount of damage to the opposing pokemon, such as Wild Charge, which has a 100 BP, but only does 1/4 damage recoil. Also, if you hate using recoil moves, you hate Talonflame?
I dun goofed. I didn't know this
+Kevin Yang Actually, Clefairy can learn both Knock Off and Bestow.
I wouldn't say Trick is better than Knock Off, to be honest. Not only does Knock Off have a base power of 65, but it's damage is increased by 50% if it removes the opponent's held item, not to mention there's a lot more Pokemon that are able to learn it than Trick.
I bet the person in Nintendo who thought of splash was laugh at too, then got fired then they put it in the game so people can laugh at it too.
"You shouldn't rely on luck to win battles - unless, of course, you're playing the aforementioned Stadium"
...You probably should've mentioned the Gen VI Focus Energy+Scope Lens+Sniper Kingdra set - a 100% chance of Gen VI critical hits (which is 1.5x normal damage, instead of 2x, another change I cannot understand the purpose of, adding to the confusion of why they bothered weakening various moves...).
