I Finally got a Microphone and it is Awesome! Welcome to the Hollyland!

- This is a Hollyland remote microphone which plugs into my iPhone 12. I was dubious at first, but it is awesome! We went looking for a calf with a birth defect which has rendered one forelimb useless. The wind was a solo howling, but the Hollyland microphone with a dead cat absolutely nailed it!
It definitely sounds better but I think you can turn up the volume on it and make it a little bit louder. But thank you it's so much better than all that crazy wind

Love that beautiful cooler weather that y’all are obviously enjoying, meanwhile here in Texas it’s 900% humidity and we are coming up on our first 100 degree F. However our grass is just as green as that grass y’all have because for once in who knows how many years we have had more rain than we have needed and it has left all the lakes full and livestock with plenty to eat. The new mic is a great addition Doc, stay safe and it’s always fun to see what you are up to !!!

That is a stereo set up as well. I was picking up on one side (without wind) but on the other side I just heard a low hum when you spoke. Definitely an upgrade. Much appreciated on this end. 🐮🐷🐑🐐

There's a deer that visits my yard with a similar defect. She's very healthy as far as I can tell, just a little slow and unsteady. Still saw her playing with a fawn despite her wonky leg and missing foot. Maybe that calf will surprise everyone and make it to adulthood with no problems as well

This is the first time he's using it, and it can take a while to get things dialed in. But this is for the videos when he's out in the field with the wind, when the wind makes it impossible to understand him.
This was a very windy day, and you wouldn't hear anything without the mic.
It was crazy windy, next time I will unplug the mic for a second!

audio output from the mic is set to single channel, not stereo. currently only outputting right side

Sound is much better. Much less wind noise. Hopefully, that calf will cope with the leg defect and still grow into a pain free adult. I think you can turn up the volume on the mic just a bit though....

I am only hearing sound in one side of my headphone. It was fine with just the i-phone before the new mic was hooked up so gonna suggest there is a stereo setting on the mic someplace.

You will be treating a bunch of cows with hoof problems if you dont get them out of the mud.
Remarkably they fare just fine. These are beef cows which live on grass, dairy cows hooves are far more fragile due to walking on concrete and through slurry daily. The lead up to the yards on this property are almost always in this shape due to the climate down there. Very very little lameness. Cheers!
