@@melisagalvalizi6982 Addiction can make people do horrible things and leave lasting damage to the people around them. It's not always easy for loved ones to understand and forgive. Regardless, I think it really speaks to what a good person Judy Garland was that her children still adore her despite her addiction.

Its nice to hear Liza and Lorna are doing good these days. Its amazing how they have overcome there mothers addiction and death. They are both very strong women. Judy Garland was an amazing person and I wish I was could turn back time and get to see her live on stage that would be awsome.

I never get tired of seeing any Judy Garland production. During her MGM days there was a combination of directors producers actors that seemed to work. These productions were magical. Judy had a beautiful and sweet manner that was enduring and made you certain that she was that way in her everyday life. She made you feel so good and uplifted and her talent singing and dancing and laughter were hers alone. The other junk sorted details of daily life won’t even be acknowledged by me because I know those facts are distorted. If she had a bad time or bad day, it had to become a tragedy made by the media need for sensationalism. I think she had to be a basically happy person. She had lovely children who were attached to and loved their MAMA. Those kids are solid and sound and had to have that solidity in their lives. Judy’s infectious humor and love was there with her children. In movies where there was a child present, she always showed a sweet and loving tender gesture toward each child. I only hope she can know how much she was loved and understood by most of us who feel we really knew her and adored her. All one has to do is really look.

Wow. she was an awesome person all around. You know how you hear stories of actors who are horrible behind closed doors and or bad to their families. Her only issue was her innocence and not knowing how MGM made her an addict. I can't say that was genetic as much as forced at the time due to her trust in them and their ignorance with the entire ordeal. She seemed like an awesome mother, person outside of what they put her through. I always enjoyed all of her movies as a child.

My art teacher met her while he was bar tending at a bar she was performing at in NY in the 60s. He sat down with her at the bar after it was closed and he gave her free drinks (even though he wasnt suppose to LOL). He told me she was very funny, but she was somewhat mellow at the time. but she wasnt mellow sad, she was more mellow like she was perhaps tired but he could still see the twinkle in her eyes. He said that he asked her if she enjoyed throwing the trinkets at Gene Kelly in The Pirate, and she said "only on the first take".

Had Judy Garland merely been a Hollywood star with a drug problem we would 50 plus years later say "OH yes just like so and so " BUT there is a difference: JUDY GARLAND was inarguably the greatest talent of the 20th Century and is remembered for the positive things she did as a performer. Most of the other stars that fell by the wayside are an afterthought!

She will always live on in my heart , I grew up watching her movies and they bring back a lot of happy memories with me and my mum . I really don’t know of one person or celebrity that has more of an incredible emotion on me than Judy Garland. I don’t think there is a day that goes by that I don’t watch one of her movies or read an article or listen to a commentary or watch a replay of one of the Judy Garland television shows. I am extremely protective of her as if she were my child. When I her in any one of her productions it is hard to imagine how she managed to do everything so magnificently. She is surreal. What I love so much about Judy was her humility. She was asked once why the gay community was so attracted to her, she said she didn’t see that. She just loved every person who spent their hard earned money to come sit in the uncomfortable seats to see her and hear her. She felt such a companionship with her audience. Her children are strong and stable and very intelligent. I believe Judy gave her children that sense of well-being through LOVE. I admire her so much. Through the thick and thin of it, she was there for her kids, her career and her beloved fans. She felt she could never give enough. That is what made this adorable creature so unique and overwhelming. She is to this day, so beautiful on so many levels, it HURTS❣️

@one4all1000: To quote Sammy Davis Jr, "She was the first of the super super stars." Yes, there have been others through the years, but Judy was the FIRST of her kind...to experience the drugs, the pressures to be thin/beautiful, the constant invasion of privacy, etc. that comes with stardom. And the questions are updated through the years. I can't tell you how many times I've heard somebody from Judy's family say something questionable, only to find out it is/was, indeed, true.

Sid Luft himself said his daughter's book was filled with lies & she was only 15 at the time & she didnt know much of what went on in judy'slife. This is pretty much a taboo subject rarely discussed. Judy didn't abstain from drugs during Joe's pregnancy; that is a big revelation in Lorna's book that either went unnoticed, or people preferred to ignore. Lorna defends it because- according to her- nobody knew about the function of the placenta in the 1950s. Strangely, this was not edited out, which makes Judy seem the world's most unfit mother, and Lorna just plain stupid. Joe barely made it through delivery, and over the years has been called "slow," and he, himself, has admitted to cognitive problems. Out of deference to Joe, and maybe more so to Judy, he has been described as a photographer, but there is no evidence to support that, or any other occupation.

@Pink Floyd most people above the age of five strongly believe 2+2 = 4. In all actuality, 2+2 = 7734206.
See? You're not the only one who can easily regurgitate fictional bullshittery. 🌈

Hazel- Yeah, I was surprised, too! Although I just googled it and didn't see the Wizard of Oz cited on the Wikipedia page of the origins of the flag. Maybe it's just a part of it.

Lorna is an "OK" entertainer but she just doesn't have that magnetic voice or personality the way Judy Garland had and still has. The 2nd part of this documentary Lorna again gets her facts wrong by saying That Judy sung "Lorna" during her 1962 TV special but it was actually in early 1964 when Judy put the words to the theme to her TV show to get the song "Lorna". Her movie about Judy in 2001 wasn't veyr accurate. Sid Luft even said most of it were lies. Which I believe is true.

I never knew the rainbow 🌈 for gay pride involved Judy Garland. I learned something knew today. Judy raised, I'm sure with help, some beautiful, loyal children.

Judy and Michael were tragic. Anyone who is so lost and confused that they don't know which end is up, and anyone who is SO talented, beautiful, loved and has 3 beautiful children to live for but still cannot get off of drugs is tragic. Talented, beautiful, but tragic.

It seemed to me that Lorna thinks she knows more about life than her sister. If you hear them speaking and how different they come off on their own you can see that Liza is a lot more intelligent and has more common sense than Lorna. I don't know her personally but Liza always gave me the impression that she was a lonely child and young woman. Someone like the character, Pooke, she played in the movie, The Sterile Cookoo. Wanting to be accepted and loved. Pookie wanted love but did not know how to give it back without suffocating her boyfriend and eventually he left her. I think Liza dances better than she sings because she has always tried to sound like her mother. I rather see her act and dance not sing.
