    Love her. And omg at the end her laugh and her squeaky laugh sound JUST like her mother. Lorna is such an inspiration. I am naming my daughter after her btw.

    I like how honest Lorna is about her history at Studio 54 and her drug use. it is refreshing for a celebrity. She is also candid about her Mother and her prescription drug abuse and dependancy.It must have been quite difficult for Judy to have been addicted to doctored prescribed medications,and no one knew how to stay off them.From reading Lorna's book and seeing the miniseries,I saw how, at times, emotionally upsetting life was.

    I applaud Lorna for sharing some painful stuff about her childhood with a mother who was addicted to prescribed medication given to her when she was a teenager She also speaks of the fun times .which is a good way to balance the program..She does this with love and understanding When Judy left MGM in 1950 who continued to prescribe the "Uppers, and the "Downers" I read and heard that she was treated at various Psychiatric hospitals, where all they did was dry her out there was no real understandment about addiction to prescribed medications. I'm glad the Judy left us with her movies, TV, and recordings.I treasure them all,

    I agree Lorna. How could anyone who accomplished what your mother accomplished be a tragedy? Especially raising such a fantastik family and a daughter like you is the real legacy! What a beautiful and honest interview. Most helpful to many people too! So glad you came through so wise and just a real great person!

    I have thought that about Lorna too. But if you look at her work history, that wasn't always the case. In the early days, after Judy's death, Lorna worked in TV & travelled giving concerts & did not use her mother as a meal ticket. But she's older now & she has had children to raise & she probably has not received offers from TV, film & stage as before. So why not capitalize? She has to make a living. And she's the best person to set the record straight on Judy.

    Judy left me a song, I sing it all the time, to feel happy, full of joy. Shout Hallelujah, get ready ... It's not one she was famous for. But, it spoke to me.

    Lorna, I admire you simply because you are who you are. Liza, I love you just becaue you are who you are. Both these women are remarkable in their own right and not simply because of who their mother was. I am sorry for either of these women if they feel overshadowed because they both have remarkable talent in their own right. .....And I do love Judy too, just because Judy was Judy. I am a fan of all of them.

    At 5:26 sec Lorna says of her mother's death: it never gets better, it just gets different. This is true. There are so many facets to grieving and you can never let it go, you just carry it around with you, it bubbles to the surface at the wrong time, then you push it away again, and sometimes choose to remember the good times which then calms you down, then you carry on with life again.

    STUDIO 54 was one of those "wild" nightclubs that was all over the place especially in the 1970's. It just was elaborate, was in New York City and drew the biggest names. There were small and large one's in even small towns, but they were there especially common during those years and probably even to this day on a different level.

    The biggest tribute to Judy Garland as a human being (rather than as an entertainer) is that her three children remain devoted to her memory and have never let her down. Her son lives privately, but her two daughters have kept her flame alive (not that they needed to), they’ve stayed true and brimmingly proud, yes they’ve maintained critical analysis but they’ve never badmouthed their mother, always defended and championed her. How easy would it be for Lorna to pen an exploitative Mommie Dearest tome and cash in? It’s tells you much about Judy and it tells you a lot about her children.

    That is unbelievably insensitive. You do know that Dexedrine was probably one of the first drugs Judy took or was given by MGM for weight loss, right? And that Judy was constantly dieting in her later years and was probably too thin at times.
    Lorna looks fine. The important thing is that she's healthy.

  • @cda345
    @cda345 Před 13 lety +3

    @beki17 I never said she didn't have a right to. As her daughter, of course she does. Lorna hasn't just followed in Judy's footsteps; she earns her living directly off her Mother's name. Rather than performing concerts of her Mother's repertoire, why not try more original material of her own? Rather than making a TV movie about her Mother, why not try to get some acting jobs of her own? Liza has and I'm sure Lorna could too. For the record, I like Lorna and am sure she is capable of much more.

    That's INCREDIBLY rude. You do know she is almost 60? Plus, she inherited a ton of her father's looks. Why bash on her for her weight? Does it REALLY matter?

  • @Great2C
    @Great2C Před 14 lety +2

    Yes, she contradicted herself a couple of times and I find it strange, too, that she doesnt simply say, My mother was a happy person with some very unhappy traits. But apart from that, I found her so refreshingly honest and non-superficial that I would love to hug her right now. But I guess she wouldnt want that, being slightly claustrophobic. ;-)

    The “terrible terrible thing” that happened to her son was a trivial pursuit question about his deceased family’s grandmother?

    • @ImTash
      @ImTash Před 3 lety +1

      i think i was more about the fact he found out about how she died through a game that trivialises it. To the rest of the world she was just some dead person they vaguely heard of but she was his grandma - Lorna was probably waiting for the right time when she felt he was the right age to understand something that was incredibly painful for her to talk about. It's terrible for him to find out that way - when kids can be so cruel, and terrible for lorna carrying around guilt that she hadn't got there first. I'd be devastated if my kid had found out something so sensitive about my family from a game while surrounded by people who didn't understand addiction.

    I know I'm going to get all dislikes for this, but I can't help but feel that Lorna has sort of capitalized on her Mother's legacy. Liza grew up trying to distance herself from her mother and built a career and name of her own. Lorna has earned her living by writing books, making tv movies, and now touring concerts all about her mother rather than just about her. Don't get me wrong I think she means well but I just don't know that I agree with it...

    That's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Those kinds of medicines are exactly what ruined Judy's health. And she's not "porky." If she's healthy, that's all that matters.

  • @SummeryWarm
    @SummeryWarm Před 11 lety +1

    Lorna is an absolutely admirable woman. She's strong, funny, wise, and has a lot to offer.
    I do believe, however, that she is not a talented performer, and should ESPECIALLY cease performing her mother's material, because it truly showcases Lorna in the worst light possible.
    Where Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli have magnetic auras or "star quality," Lorna has...the polar opposite.
    That said, I still think she's an admirable, strong lady with hard edges borne of frustration.

    • @georgelong9782

      I AGREE WITH YOU SO MUCH about Lorna always singing Judy's songs now. That's ALL she does!!!!! She also sings sharp;off-key!!!! I love Liza but Lorna always capitalizes on being Judy's daughter. That's all she has to offer!!! I think that's probably why she and Liza go through periods of not talking for YEARS!!! Liza's very private about Judy and i think she resents Lorna singing Judy's songs and ALWAYS talking about her.
