Surely its the people who live in these areas that make it how it is. They're the ones who are dumping couches etc in the car park, no one else is doing that.
True. But what happens is that it starts with a minority of trouble makers. They drag the area down for the 90% of decent people. But if nothing is done about this minority the decent people start to leave and are replaced by trouble makers. Then you end up with a place that sinks in to no-go area. The government and council are at fault for not intervening much earlier. I remember Morecambe in the early 2000's. Looked around flats in that area of town. Was no where near as bad as now. It's taken 20 years of neglect to get so bad. It could have been nipped in the bud. Other areas have managed to do this.
There is no money invested in poorer working class areas, they don't give 2 shites (government and/or many local councils) The only clean and nice areas are where there is money or the means to make more money.
In every part of our Country you will find Areas that are so off the scale when it comes to humanity, Dignity and wellbeing. Its also far to say that there are drug dealers with nothing else on their agenda but cashing in on this horrible situation. Which in turn makes the situation even worse.

I'm from barrow born and breed. And i can confirm 100% Egerton court is as rough as billy has said it is, It Always has been a rough spot I don't think it's ever been a nice area. My opinion is we as a community could be doing alot more for the town , to tackle the real problems it faces. But no one cares. Everyone turns a blind eye. And that for me is where the real problems lie there's no community spirit anymore. And untill people start treating the town and each other with abit more respect. Then nothing will change. it's no good brushing the problems under the carpet. We need to tackle these problems together as a community and then things might change. Egerton isn't all council owned. A couple of landlords own at least 60 between them. I worked on there for a few days. Lots of alcoholics, drug users and pit bulls but there was a sense of community with them looking out for each other.

I think integrity today is a slippery concept and not widely understood and over rated. As we all have to make compromises to survive and progress in today's world. I once had an interview with Mercedes Finance and my integrity was called into question . Despite the fact I was driving a silver SLK 350, ,parked in their car park and I was their biggest fan. The thing is the Chairman of the company, yes Mercedes at the time ,was on trial for £100 billion diesel fraud. I' ve always endeavored to do the right thing and only been addicted to carbohydrates yet here I was with no criminal record and my integrity was called into question. What I deduced from this subject of integrity and it's relevance to living in today's world it was not about whether I was doing the right thing but doing right for whom.Who was benefitting from me and why. I didn't get the job but c'est la vie,life is unfair and it was their loss.😊😊😊
