They should react to that song
@@samanthamyers2878 agreed
Yes. He sure is. And seeing him in person was made my entire decade back in ‘86.
"Thinking of a master plan. Nothing but sweat inside my hand."
@@pthesmith so I dig into my pockets all my money spent

I'm 50+ year old white dude and can't remember where my car keys are most days. But I know every word of this song...

You are a lifesaver. I was desperately trying to remember the name of that Big Daddy Kane joint.

Microphone Fiend is STILL the illest , Rakim is a lyrical genius.
I agree! The was the dopest lyrics ever..
Paid in full was also dope..
Follow the Leader…. My Melody…. I ain’t no joke!!!
I was just singing this yesterday.
I Know You Got Soul is THE banger
Hey Twins, the DJ is Eric B and of course, the MC is Rakim, they are from Long Island, NY. This duo definitely left their mark on hip-hop culture. They have classic hits, such as, paid in full, microphone fiend, and follow the leader. Rakim was like no other, lyrically and delivery when he came into the rap game. He is a living legend.
True Rap God 💯
@@squalley Without a doubt‼️
He was before his time. His father was a jazz musician.
Eric B is from Queens and Rakim is from Wyandanch
@@txzbelle75 OK, Eric B is from Queens, but either way they met in Long Island. And Wyandanch is part of Long Island.
This is one of the greatest rappers of all time. A lot of rappers learned from Rakim. Eric B was great at producing as well.
44yo european male here, i still have a original on vinyl!
Back in the day was so much better. Notice how you can understand each and every word he is saying. Something you can't do with many now days.
THEY GOT NEXT 🎤
WHODINI, MISS. MELODY, 3RD BASS, DOUG E. FRESH, PUBLIC ENEMY, KRS-ONE
I don’t remember Miss. Melody. I’ll have to check it out.
EPMD
@@david36498 I like EPMD.
@@david36498 I have to admit that I remember that name more than I remember any song, but I just listened to “You Gots to Chill “. That’s a good tune.
Whodini!!
I might’ve just been first for the first time...Rakim the legend
Google him he listed as one of the best lyristist in hip hop. Notice he never cursed in this song. Nas 50 cent Eminem said this was there favorite rapper
Dats my favorite rapper of all time and he only cursed one time on Mahogany, when he said you knw how far a kiss could go, fuc around and miss the show
@@deewill4297 and dats my Fave line from my Fave rapper!! 😍😍
I'd personally go for Kool Keith with Rakim a close 2nd
Fave Eric B and Rakim song is “Paid in Full”😁
Yaas! Thinking of a master plan, because ain’t nothing but sweat inside my hand ✋
@@adriennerutledge5745 💯
Great choice, but my favorite is"Follow the Leader."
@@heavensent1241 Another great One!
Mine too!
Rakim is a rap/hip hop "GOAT" "Greatest Of All Time". Check out "Paid in Full"
If you liked this song, you guys will definitely love their tracks, "Follow the Leader", "Juice (Know the Ledge)", "Microphone Fiend", "I Know You Got Soul", "Don't Sweat the Technique".
When you take everything into account: flow, lyricism, vocal tone, cold beats, influence on hip hop - it's Rakim. 🐐
That was Flava flave dancing in the blue tracksuit rakim was way before his time he put the new York sound on the map
Rakim had the toughest voice I've ever heard aside from pac one of the dopest mc ever!
drop da mic 🎤
I know the whole words to this song lol 😆
Well it's about damn time!!! I've been requesting this for a year!!!
Eric B the DJ. Rakim is the best rapper of this generation. As so many other rappers referred to him, "Rakim is your favourite MC's favourite MC."
Rakim is the reason your favourite rapper loves rap. It was ALL about what bars you could spit. Rakim is one of the best to ever do it. Don't Sweat The Technique and Let The Rhythm Hit' Em we’re probably their two biggest songs. Man, I miss the HipHop days.
As a metal head that apprrciates good music, Eric B and Rakim (and A Tribe Called Quest) got me into hip-hop back in the day. Undeniable how smooth and intelligent Rakim is.
They are LEGENDS OF HIP HOP, HIP HOP ROYALTY. Their style & mc skills was ahead of their time, Rakim was the baddest lyricist out there. They are the GOATS bc they were 1 of the pioneers & other artists looked up to them too. I KNOW YOU GOT SOUL is their biggest and baddest banger. That joint kept everybody on the dance floor 4 sho. Finally fellas yasssssss👍
Do microphone fiend. That’s my favorite Eric b and rakim.
try PUBLIC ENEMY next, does not mater with song, start with the old ones, work your way up ;)
Cant truss it!
“Rebel Without A Pause”🔥
@@MrRuffle They did that one
"Now, I called 911 along time ago..."
If you look up "Hip-Hop" in the dictionary...their picture will be right next to the definition. #FollowTheLeader
MC Lyte “Paper Thin” and Ruffneck” Poor Georgie”
Love them! Brings back memories. Eric B is actually acting now. He plays a detective on Blue Bloods!
Really that's what's up. I don't watch that show so l didn't know. I'ma lookout 4 him next time it comes on tfs.
Rakim is the best rapper PERIOD. Big Daddy Kane is a close second. Please review ‘Eric B is President’ by Eric B & Rakim. You’ll love the beat and rap flow
Don't forget Vanilla Ice!! The greatest!
Does anybody remember kool moe dee?
Eric B is the DJ, Rakim is called the GOD M.C. Check there other joint Follow The Leader.
Rakim is the GOAT. Still touring too! Check out his book Sweat the Technique.
Up next: "I Need Love" by LL Cool J. This song was the first rap ballad!! It stayed at the top of the charts for weeks. You must listen to this one next!!!
Actually Whodini had a rap ballad before this called One Love but LLs just got more airplay and recognition...
@@georgemaxwell3467 I remember that song!! It did really hit you as a rap ballad but yeah as I think back on it ... it was a rap ballad.
Listening to Eric B & Rakim's "My Melody" first would have given you some insight to some of the lyrics in this record. He references it a few times and you have gotten more bang out of the "7 emcees" line. Back in the day we went crazy over that line because of the release order of the records
🤩Eric B and Rakim- The best that ever did it!!🙋🏽♀️
Das Efx- 'They want Efx' will blow your mind
Rap ROYALTY 👑! “Microphone Fiend”, “I Know You Got Soul”, so many more. NY Old School 🔥. Man we had it good 💎💎💎 Next Lesson: Public Enemy “Rebel Without A Pause” ; You will LOVE it!❤️
Jody Watley with Eric B and Rakim on the song 'Friends' is a banger.
Classic!!!!
The G-d Emcee Rakim, one of the Goats, its a blessing to have been around when Hip Hop was like this, you can tell in the songs that it was about the ppl and the culture, not about money, jewels, women or drugs. Keep checking out OUR classic Hip Hop joints, your gonna Love them. ✌🏾 Peace to the G-Ds and Earths. Proper Education Always Cause Elevation (PEACE)
Please react to more of them. U will love them.
Rakim set the trend! He’s a major influence and influence to all the greats. Pac, Nas, BIG, Eminem, Jay Z, DMX. He was before them all.
It’s so crazy you’ve never heard this song before. It’s so good.
Although a classic this song is so old their parents were kids. If you think back to when you were their age you weren’t listening to 35 year old music either. The fact that they’re educating themselves is what makes them special.
Fire..🔥🔥🔥🔥
This album Paid in Full was very monumental and influential for Hip Hop it brought out so many Rap artists even to this day!👍
That whole 📀 is 🔥☄🔥
Or tape 😅
One of the best rappers who don’t cuss
I saw Eric B. & Rakim live a couple years ago. They’re still amazing.
I can't believe this is your first time hearing THE GOD MC Rakim. He changed the way everybody rapped. He is your favorite rapper's favorite rapper. He inspired everybody after him. When Nas first came out, he was considered "the second coming of Rakim."
I love how younger people hear this for the first time. They are like WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW
Glad you like this! How about another A Tribe Called Quest song? Check out Award Tour. ☺️
I'm glad yall enjoyed this song because this was my era, the golden age of hip-hop music. We used to be stylin with the sweat suits: Fila, ellesse, Puma, adidas, Sergio Tacchini, etc. no skinny jeans back then.
This is the hip hop I grew up on. Growing up in queens NY in the 80’s was when all of this was out. Good times!!
My favorite hip hop song - Rakim’s flow is incomparable. 💕
Fellows try Rob Base 'It takes two to make a thing go right ' you want regret it.
Am I the only child born in the 70s who did the Wop and the Webo at house parties, school dances and clubs in the 90s who hates the Rob Bass song 'It takes 2'? When it came on, I would just walk off the dance floor. Why do people like that lame song and his mediocre raps and non-existent flow?
This is REAL HIP HOP!! ✌️🧡🤘
I just got the chills! That east coast hip-hop! Eric B. and Rakim are the truth. "Mircophone Fiend", "Follow The Leader," "Don't Seat The Technique," and so much more. Check out Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy, 3rd Base, KRS ONE, The Guru, and I can go on and on.
Rakim was a big influence on Nas...both deep lyricists who speak facts.
The hip hop I grew up listening to, can’t beat old school hip hop….only thing I can listen to
Ahhhh sssshhhhh u done messed up now!!! Rakim aka “the God MC”. Eric B “the President”. Now u just witnessed the GOAT…no one can touch Rakim lyrically, no one ever dared! He’s your favorite rapper favorite’s rapper. He put all nursery rhymes type hip hop to bed once he game out everybody had to step their game up!
Rakim is one of the BEST MCs ever! Check out their track Eric B for President- my favorite.
Rakim’s rhymes were so unique and complex at the time that he was actually laughed at when he first spit a lot of these rhymes, and advised he should change his style to be more marketable…but he stuck with his guns and laid the blueprint for the Nas’, Jay-Z’s and Eminems that would come later.
NO 1 RAPPER OF ALL TIMES,NO CUSSING AT ALL...🗣THE G.O.A.T💯👊🏽
The God MC! Rakim is still your favorite rappers favorite rapper.
Y’all should check out “Self Destruction” by Boogie Down Productions. Features a whole bunch of dope MC’s.
If you listen to this again pay attention to how he gives you the titles to almost all of his songs in this one song! I'm a fan Ra is called the 18th letter he is fire on everything he does! Check out some of his other song .....he doesn't disappoint!
Eric B. and Rakim- Microphone Fiend
TWINS; I'm 💔to know you've never experienced
Hip-Hop LEGENDS 🎧Eric B. & Rakim🎤
Please become familiar.
One of MY FAV MC's Rakim🎤.
Rakim is the greatest that ever done it.
Rakim was a total game changer in hip-hop. This and “Don’t Sweat the Technique” are probably my 2 favorite tracks by them.
Love this song from them. My absolute favorite is Microphone 🎤 Fiend. This is real, organic rap music. Notice how you can actually understand his lyrics clearly.
Look at the crowd. No thots, no one disrespecting themselves or others. No guns. I'm sick of these zombies 🧟♂️ being paid to poison the influential minds of tomorrow.
BROS....SINCE YOU'RE ON THAT CLASSIC HIP-HOP TIP, CHECK OUT KRS ONE AND LISTEN TO:

This is my all time hit.... for real... and the jam Make Em Clap To This. They were ahead of thier time. I've been waiting for you guys to play this... I can't sleep I'm so hyped.
This group was legendary also that was Flava Flav from Public Enemy.
One of the truly oldschool lyricists that can hang with anyone today. You can’t say that about anyone aside from maybe krs1
If you like the "OL' SKOOL" rap, check out The Message by Grand Master Flash & the Furious Five. Don't forget LL Cool J- Around the Way Girl. 💯💥
Rakim's the MC, Erik B. the DJ. Easily top 5 MC's of all time. So glad to see this. Hope it revives the cut and the album. This whole album is a Classic, in any genre--one of a few hip hop joints still in rotation around the world.
No twin, that wasn’t a FUBU track suit. It was Fila
