Rakim is the God M.C.
He could never be Master chief but his is an amazing Emcee
Facts 💯
Facts
Rakim was on another level. He never had to curse to get his point across. Nobody can touch this brother lyrically.
Love that you liked this.
Rakim basically invented modern rapping as we know it and is widely considered the best emcee of all time.
More as we used to know it! Based on today's artist.
@@fab5frk That is correct. I'm not sure who created modern rapping. Migos?
@@DefSquadFan Record Exectives along with the media. They go hand & hand.
Facts
He is the greatest of all time
People throw "classic" and "legendary" around nowadays. This is how you define it. The guy birthed a million rappers to this very day
Ask the teenagers, OG's and nasty kids...
What their definition of "classic" is...
Timeless, so age don't count in the booth when your flow stay submerged in the fountain of youth.
Facts
He ain't from here. Can't be. Maybe Venus......
Precisely
You just witness the greatest MC of all time pronunciation Ra-k-im
I still find it hard to believe that ppl who like, love, listen to Rap have not listened to the classics
Truly... as with any genre one would claim to be really 'into' or passionate about... The more I heard ,the more i wanted to dig, into it's evolution...
@@yelizaveta1278 that's why us Old Heads be shaking our heads and walking away.
@@xvader9445 you ain't wrong. I just don't "get" the mentality... The word "influence/influencers" mean something else now ....
Often ,it'll be found though, these same folks have (though growth* is good) switched up what their enjoyments, interests and sources of creativity/entertainment are altogether; by confirming to others 'ought' thoughts, creative or really just they go with the current wave, even if they ride one a while...
This girl needs to have a talk with her parents.
Especially considering how easy it is now. We used to have to wait and HOPE to MAYBE hear a song or see a video somewhere if you got lucky.
Eric b and Rakim - Follow The Leader
Eric b and Rakim - Let The Rhythm Hit Em
For ALL the youngsters today, this was the music we grooved to BEFORE y'all was born, SO enjoy it and appreciate REAL and original old school hip hip.
I'm so proud of the era of music I came up with. I carry that shit like a badge of honor! Good the youth listening to these GEMS
I grew up listening to this album of Eric B & Rakim in 1987. They are truly the pioneers of hiphop. This is what it's all about. Not the stuff we hear today. I miss those days back in the day, people actually got along!
Rakim only being 19 when this dropped makes it more incredible. Dudes always been an old soul
That was Flavor in his younger years ⏳️
GETTIN' It!
Flav was cool till he picked up that pipe
Rakim is the God MC! He’s a lyrical master who took hip hop to another level. Rakim is not just a legend… He’s an ICON!
"you get fried in the end when you pretend to be a friend". words to live by.
Paid In Full was one of those mandatory rap albums you HAD to have in your collection. It didn’t matter if it was an official studio copy or a dubbed copy from a friend.
When rappers had something too say! Not rapping to nursery rhymes like this Generation.
ur right, she thought I was a donut, she tried to glaze me.. okay
Even when rapping a nursery rhyme!
Slick Rick’s “children’s story”
❤
Those are called MC'S....
@@rogerhayes1805 People thinkin' mc is short hand for misconception
I am losing my mind thinking that this is your first time hearing about Eric B and Rakim! Sweetheart do you realize who this man is he is considered to this day The Hip Hop God! I got to admit though it is so fun watching you hear it for the first time. Because your reaction now was our reaction then! Much love to you!🌹
Young Queen,
You getting a lot of love from those of us that were around for this music. By tappin' in , you are connecting to our generation. Mad respect to you.
I've only heard Rakim cuss one time throughout his whole career. That just shows you don't have to use profanity to sound tough.
to that point we never heard anything like rakim. clear smooth vocals that flows in the rhythm
Peace! My favorite emcee & I used to work for Eric B…Eric is a solid brother.
Ra-“Kim”
The last part of his name is pronounced like the “chem” in “chemistry”.
I love the energy in your videos.
Rakim is considered one of the greatest MC's to ever touch the mike.
I saw an interview with Rakim and he was asked why he almost never curses in his rhymes, and he simply stated, because his parents listens to his music.
If you don't listen to another Eric B and Rakim song, you should definitely check out "The Microphone Fiend"
Thee Greatest, not one of but thee Greatest!!
Easily
Can't believe this cut is 35 years old. Time flies 👊🏼👊🏼🔥🔥
The Architect of Rap, he fathered modern day rap flow, lyrics, style, swagger...you name it! Those who didn't change the way they flow got left behind.
1986!! Rakim Tha God. Changed Hip-Hop 4EVER!! Gone are the days of A-B A-B rhyme pattern of rap.
Laid the lyrical foundation for likes Big Daddy Kane Pac, Biggie ,Eminem and a myriad of others I couldn't possibly begin list.
Salute sis for givin props to the Lyrical Legend 👍🏾🎤
she thought I was a donut, she tried to glaze me.. yea real revolutionary lol
He invented the lyricism that you see today and has not been out done since this video!
Listen... Back then, rap was straight up serious and all about the lines. It was a a pure art form!
Welcome beautiful black queen to my time. THE TRU TIMES
For a long time the best to ever do it. For how far ahead he was to his peers at the time he’s still the best to ever do it.
I love your reaction to the scratching. It proves that record execs do not understand our creative musical sensibilities.
Old school rappers have stated in recent years how the industry would ask them about the DJ, wondering " What does he do?". When explained, execs just didn't see the usefulness of the DJ only to drop them from their own group in favor of a record producer and cutting cost. They only wanted the lyricist(s), while the other element they felt was important was the music itself. So, many artists had to fight to keep their DJs.
This released in 1987. I was 16 years old at my friends house outside with the boom box listening to the Saturday night mix show he recorded on cassette. Eric B. & Rakim "I Ain't No Joke" came on and ivwas like WHO THE FU¢K IS THAT ? My friend said Rakim. I went to Sound Warehouse records that day and bought the album and cassette. I saw them in 1988 at the Dope Jam Tour and again in 2018.
P.E.A.C.E. to the GODS & EARTHS •7)
BLESS THE MIC FOR THE GODS.
Shout out to the Paid In Full Posse.
Rapp, Supreme Magnetic, Kool G. Rap, Killa Ben.
One of the 80's rap icons of all time.
I'm glad you guys do videos like this now rakim was so different back then I tell people just listen to his lyrics
I appreciate your reaction to the video. Oh. Do a reaction video to Boogie Down Productions, "My Philosophy".
That boom-bap! Know The Ledge and Don't Sweat The Technique are still in rotation in my playlist, they're proper old school!
Facts. I love follow the leader too lol
Is M.C. improper old-school?
@@johnsondailysports1341 Microphone Fiend is on the list too, lol
@@sarahp9086 definitely
I'm sure you know this already but for anyone that might not ... this is 1987. NINETEEN EIGHTY SEVEN. Thirty-six years ago. As many here are saying, he changed the game. Pretty much everyone had to throw out whatever they were working on and start over. Everything else sounded instantly dated. The reset button got hit. And yeah, love that Flavor-Flav was on loan from Public Enemy for the video that day 😁
Rakim has so many lyrical songs -
Lyrics of Fury - The title says it all
Casualty of War - Rap about being a soldier
Follow the Leader - With song he became a Rap legend
Let the rhythm em - Fast pace
i love seeing the younger generation hear real mcs its so funny to me seeing there reaction cause they havent heard real mcing there like Damn!!!Golden era!! luv it
Rap music stands on the shoulders of RAKIM...the goat.
Yes, that's Flava Flav. He actually got his start with Rakim. This was before he joined Public Enemy.
Yo!!!! I had to subscribe to your channel!!!! I love to see young people's reactions to an era I grew up in... I can see that you are genuinely impressed it ain't fake and I love that!!!!
MAKE EM CLAP TO THIS... ERIC B & RAKIM
I’m still rockin this Till this Day!!!
Try Eric B. & Rakim " Paid In Full "!!! One of their Best! The Album version not the video which is a Remix
My Melody, is off the same album, react to this song , his first single off the Paid in full album. One thing about Rakim is that he forced other rapper to step there rap game up. Also Nas is the rebirth of Rakim in the 90's, same style.
Rakim is the legitimate GOAT. Check out "The Ledge." It is stunning.
That is my era! I love it. Thanks and much respect for listening. God bless you!
JT I listened to Rakim and Eric B, this my era but watching you hear and experience this is EVERYTHING! ❤
Your action is what the raction was back in the 80's when this came out. The GAME was changed!!! Rakim. The God MC.!!
let me tell you how videos used to "premiere" like movies, and how we went ape-shit when we saw flav cameo, because there werent really squads before where one group supported another. that's chuck d and terminator x (public enemy) sitting with them on jungle gym. strong island posse (long island, ny) included acts like epmd and k-solo. ...... rakim's style ushered in the beats and rhyme era 86-92 when lyrics were supposed to poetically ride the rhythm. please listen to his "check out my melody". when they dropped "eric b is president", it was never the same lyrically again. run-dmc was dope, but had become pop oriented, and they never did rely on intricate lyrics. i kind of hated "it's tricky" by them, because it wasn't. lol. ll cool j, krs-one, big daddy kane, rakim brought the emcee way out to the front. before them, the standard for lyricists was the great but underappreciated and underacknowledged T-La Rock, "It's Yours" 1984. before him, the most lyrical emcees were kool moe dee of the treacherous 3, melle mel of grandmaster flash and the furious five, and a solo artist named spoonie g. roxanne shante comes from that era as well, around 1985. female emcees before her include sha-rock, pebbly poo, lady bee, jazzy joyce, yvette money, and of course "the sequence". check out pebbly poo in the ultra-classic Masterdon Committee's "Funkbox", with the infamous origianl lyrics "Let me hear you say, Uhhhh Nana Nana".
You on it👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Yeah you know your stuff. I was going to respond with something but then you took the words out my mouth.
There's Rakim (Look, Voice, Style, Flow). And then there's everybody else.
The GOAT,might I suggest Follow the Leader from him and Eric,it's a lyrical masterpiece, the beat is hard af.🎶
Rakim was deep with his flow, for real....
Rakim is jus on another level the only Mc who can even compare is Big Daddy Kane.
I would add Kool G Rap to that equation as well.
That's when RAP WAS REAL ❤
He coined "drop the mic"💪🏿✊🏿
There are two periods of Hip hop: Before Rakim and after Rakim.
He changed the game. He influenced Eminem
understand he's gonna drop lyrics for the duration without selling drugs, disparaging women, shooting cops or using language stronger than "damn" and will still keep you engaged for the whole video. this is talent. this brother like Bill Russell, nothing but titles, modern G's wanna diss but they cant, because in their hearts they know they cant handle him
One of the best emcees....PERIOD!
The greatest!
I am here for it!!!! Loved it!!!!!
Eric B and Rakim - Microphone Fiend is that joint!!!

Rakim was way before his time
😆😆😆
I love these reaction videos! Especially ANY reaction to ANY Eric B. & Rakim joint.
I love how her reaction looks like somebody's making her eat a 3-week old tuna sandwich...the same reaction I had the 1st time I heard Follow The Leader in '88.
ITZJT, you should listen to Lyrics Of Fury now...
THE GREATEST RAPPER EVER🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Definitely, ONE of THE BEST rap "lyricists" in the rap game at that time!!
#1 all time
THE...GOD...MC...RAKIM.
