  • Video from 2014 showing how to fit an armrest you may have purchased from a breakers yard or online.
I didn't record this but I did drill a hole on the inside of the arm rest and fit a USB extension from my head unit, the wire was hidden inside the trim and worked nicely, so that is possible if you are wondering.
Since then Bluetooth in cars has taken off so its unlikely you'll be wanting to do this.
I have lost the footage at the end showing the plastic trim being fitted, I'm surprised the videos have lasted on my hard disc this long, I have moved 3 times since recording the fitment, and changed cars 5 times.
I think this was my favourite car, at times I wish I had not sold it, fixed all the rust, replaced the entire interior with black trim and GTI bucket seats, the vents with Bora illuminated ones, the map light with the Passat w8 one.

    AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!!
I also, have been literally trying to find out how to complete the installation.
The armrest and parts were in the trunk of the car when I bought it.
    Thanks, thanks, thanks!

Guess I'm Your first viewer, thanks for posting. Glad to know I don't need an entire new console to add an arm rest.

I'm sorry for asking perhaps an obvious question, but I have seen 3 videos now and still do not know. I have a 2002 VW Cabrio which is what they call a MK3.5 model. What vehicle is the arm rest being pull off of? My model did not come w/ armrest and thought it could be retrofitted since it shares some of the newer model MK4 amenities.

Do you happen to know where to find that "kit"?
Or maybe the bolt size and thread?

Those plates that you slid on at 3:13, where did you get those?

I got them from the salvage car years ago....; and I did almost forget it to remove them today...; because the arm rest goes again in annother mark 4..... :-)
