  • Now here's a kit I was excited for!
I've long wanted more Chinese warriors for the table, so I'm happy to see that come to fruition- in hard plastic, no less!
While not a full size sprue, WGA pack plenty of options in to give you an interesting assortment of Boxers.
While my first reaction is to give everyone melee weapons, I opted in the end to make some of the iconic Braves and plundered my WW1 German kits for extra arms, which worked quite well.
Now I'm going to need some opponents for these guys to harass!
    Grab them here-

One of the fun things about the boxers was that some of them actually believed that if they could get their spiritual essence purified enough that the Western bullets would bounce off of them. An ancestor of mine was with the Marines at the siege of the legations in Peking, his diary is full of interesting anecdotes of the period. He was quite interested in the Society of the harmonious fist even before they started attacking foreigners. If they go for the entire range of combatants they're also going to have to do the Chinese Imperial Army, US Marines, us cavalry, British, French, German, Russian, Austrian, French, Italian, and Japanese. So this could end up a truly huge range. A British troops for this period would probably be Sudan era you might get away with Germans wearing the spiky helmets, most of the rest I can't offhand think of Miniatures for but you might want to try Colonial ranges after the Zulu war. The British were in khaki uniforms. The French were in Naval infantry uniforms. This is all for the legations as that is always been a game I want to try ,the siege of the legations. Ralphartha back in the day did a whole range of Boxer Rebellion figures but they were in 25 mm and slender even in that so I really doubt that there could be any compatibility.

I think you could probably scrape together some appropriate Legation troops with just Wargames Atlantic kits at this point, barring some modifications and head swaps.
I always thought the setting would make for a cool adventure game. Roughed up veterans fending off mob attacks, all the secret societies and martial sects scheming and plotting both with and against each other, ancient secrets and treasures waiting to be unearthed, perhaps all with a slight dash of supernatural elements for fun.
In my head I always pictured it like a Victorian Big Trouble in Little China aesthetic meets some of the wilder side of HK cinema's wuxia offerings of the late 90s.

@@ObscuritiesinMiniature I looked I looked at War Games Atlantic other figures and the only thing that I saw that had even half a chance was the World War II Italians but they would need a lot of work. I found some proper plastic sets that would work but they were all from different companies. As an example the British Infantry would would probably come from Perry miniatures if the scale is compatible. I found a lot more on Etsy but of course those are resin figures. I'm surprised at how much trouble I'm having finding Russians and Japanese because this is the same period as the Russian and Japanese war. And the only troops I could find for the French are Perry miniatures in metal.

That would be amazing for a little eastern flavored Call of Cthulhu, especially if they put out a box or two of early twentieth century civilians.

@@bopaintsminis great for pulp adventures also, I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of these miniatures. I'm still going to be looking for historical miniatures for the Boxer Rebellion era.

@@charlesentrekin140 Sure, CoC is mostly set in the pulp era, so that makes perfect sense.
I just ordered a box. I'm sure half of them will end up with sci-fi kit from some of the other WA boxes.
Too bad there are no women mini though. I can always do with more of those.

This kit is one of my favorites from WGA. There was so much variety in the kit, that each model looks unique. Just a delight to put together

If you want human auxiliaries, they're certainly a good basis for making some.
If you've got access to a 3D printer, hoo boy, there's some crazy options at this point!

I want a box to mix and max for my sci-fi game- very Firefly.

I feel like you might find something in Titan Forge's Cyber Forge lineup. I feel there was a scifi triad guy at one point who was dressed a bit more traditionally. Maybe Unit 9's patreon as well? They've done a few cyberpunk Chinese gangsters that might have the right clothes!
