Don't you hate when you can't get a better look at things you're interested in?
I certainly do.
So I started this channel as a means to showcase some of the less known hobby items that I enjoy.
With the caveat that hopefully it's of some use to you dear viewers as well!

後藤 正行 Masayuki Gotoh's Tsubaraya Artwork: GENERATOR!
Here's a book of nothing but Ultraman related (or kaiju- adjacent) artwork from the veteran Masayuki Gotoh, who has been one of the primary designers behind a lot of material from Tsubaraya over the past 20 years or so.

These are the most 80s looking mecha I've seen in some time, and for mecha and power armor, to me at least that's one of the very highest levels of praise. The last time we saw Calamity's Ashes, we got bombarded with hundreds upon hundreds of parts to build, tinker, model, and kitbash with. I fear this time around is going to be even worse in all the best ways possible! Crimson Steel Mechworks ...

Terra Battle Artworks, or why we need more Kimihiko Fujisaka art!
zhlédnutí 230Před 2 měsíci
The most painful thing about this video is that there's no other subsequent books on the art from the game. It was a pretty unique game too. I guess you could say that about most of Mistwalker's library. Doesn't hurt that Fujisaka did a large portion of art for their games. A shame there aren't more physical collections out there showcasing it!

Yikes! The school year is almost over! And so is high school for my oldest! That's insane! It doesn't seem like I finished high school all that long ago, but then I seem to pull that Matt Damon trick of morphing into an old man and realizing that was getting close to 30 years ago. Jeez. Sadly May becomes a nonstop barrage of stuff, and then we bounce out of the country as soon as we can for all...

While these days Minaba is mostly known for his work with Granblue Fantasy, this book runs the gamut of his career (most notably with Squaresoft and the Final Fantasy series) , there are some interesting detours into territory I wasn't expecting like various Mistwalker titles and even the original Super Mario RPG! There's a ton of neat stuff here, and in my opinion is made all the better by how...

just got myself this kit! your review sold me on it! on a side note tho try panel lining your kits then finishing it off with a topcoat would look 100x better!! anyways keep up the good work!
WAAAGH!!
Why no mention of Moebius? Is Jean Giraud what you imply by "European influence"?
killer review killer book
I had to use buldock clips to bring the trail together and the right hand skull keeps falling off. Definitely one of the harder models to assemble. Had to use green stuff to fill loads of gaps and loads of warping. Took a lot of effort to resolve the issues.
This book $1495 on Amazon Canada... ~same on eBay
Hey, could you tell me what that big miniature kit that showed up at 5:28 was called? It's super cool!
Pretty sure it's the original Raicho for Infinity's Combined Army. It has an updated model these days that looks substantially different!
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature Thank you so much for letting me know! I'll try to find it in Japan! Also, the paint job is freaking awesome! Thanks!
With some GW Chaos warriors heads, some very decent Chaos dwarves
haven't had updates? You still there??
I'm still here! I'll be home mid- July. Still rolling around the rice fields in the Japanese countryside! I've had a hell of a time trying to get all my electronics to cooperate this trip and haven't been able to update anything yet- I'll see what I can do!
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature Have a good Time!! we're not going anywhere! Hear you when you get back!😊
I have Hiten, and Biten, now i need this Maten.
You're two ahead of me still, so consider yourself lucky! I had a chance on one of those, forget which- naturally went back to get it the next day, and of course it wasn't there!
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature I got them on Amazon used for like $60 each, very worth it. Both came very good condition. I really want to get a copy of hero but it's like $230
How do you think these stack up against gripping beast
Much more defined and a bit truer scale. Not to knock on Gripping Beast, but they're sculpts tend to be a bit more squat and heroic. I'm somewhat curious how they'd work together. I'd say if they're painted and based similarly it wouldn't be too bad.
The little 'hook' type thingies are belt hooks to help span the crossbow...... you hook your foot in the stirrup, bend forward, hook the belt onto the string and stand up.... this draws back the string quicker than using the windlass on lower poundage bows.
The orc war boss with the shield looks like the art work from 6th edition where a massive orc is fighting a human form the empire.
Yeah, those Avatars of War Orcs have a very Adrian Smith look to them- big and menacing!
How do these models size up with GW's stuff? Pretty close in scale?
Scale- wise they're pretty comparable, but they are much more true scale in their proportions, so they may look a bit stand out- ish if mixed with GW figures- on the other hand, units of them fighting Empire models or something would look absolutely fine I'd wager.
They are definitively some of my favorite miniatures. Currently working on painting up 2000 points of Grimdark Future Battle Brothers using Puppetswar prints.
The amount of modular parts that are available for their battle brothers at this point is pretty impressive. You can have quite the tailor- made force of individual figures if you were so inclined!
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature Definitively.
Are these bigger than the GW metal forest goblins?
Then the metals? Probably. Been ages since I encountered the metals in the wild. They've got enough of a unique look though that while they may not be a 1:1 match, they'd look pretty good together on the tabletop, especially if you have both in nicely sized units!
the point is that they transform and u take part of every bit of the process, thats all of their play values
Which is probably why I started gravitating to the candy toy kits at the supermarkets as they started to get released- I enjoy the building process far more than the transforming process!
この本には仮面ライダーエターナルは描けれていますか?
Maybe? I am in Japan right now and the book is in California, so I cannot look at it.
Hi all! I'm looking for rules tp play Aztecs vs. Conquistadors. Any recommendation?
I've enjoyed Lion Rampant for smaller scale historical battles. Especially since I don't have the time or patience to paint up massive piles of both armies!
Cool video...I just finished up building this model...pretty simple until I realized I forgot to add the door step piece...Your video showed what that extra part was for and where it goes...whew! Have you painted up your model yet?
I haven't painted ANY of my scenery! It's horrible! I have two or three (at least) of those various Warcry boxed sets from GW, all that terrain... and it's all still grey! What's even more sad is I have spray paints I had picked up to at least give it all a solid base coat and follow up with some drybrushing... and years later, I still haven't done it. Maybe this summer is the one, right?
I will use those for Guevesa models
With weapons as-is or swapped in with GW ones? It's always neat seeing people's allied human forces!
Who did the art work for the box?
I'd love to know. I don't think I've ever come across that info, which there isn't a while lot of out there on the internet, unfortunately.
Not sure if you've tried, but would the Albion Knights heads fit on Warhammer Empire knights bodies?
Depends if you mean the new or old knights. Empire knights? They may work. The new Cities of Sigmar ones, I don't think they would. The more interesting question I have bubbling up is how these heads and other parts would work with the new Victrix and Wargames Atlantic knights and footmen!
I had to fix my space wolf cavalry tail with a metal pin, i have 6 grey knight terminators 1 grand master and 4 sisters ive fixed 1 sister leg and joytoy was wonderful enough to send me 2 new different grey knight legs. Ill keep buying more.
I'm glad customer service was able to help you out! That's always good to hear! Thankfully all my Joytoy figures have been pretty sturdy... so far at least!
The with Catachans is that they not bad if you paint them correctly. I have a soft spot in my heart and far too many of them.
The modern Northstar kits are crisssspppy. The chain mail on that sprue is the best I've seen in the industry.
I saw there's new cultists coming out. Definitely on my list of things to get in the future!
I really love these old comics masters like corben, frazetta, moebius and others it's just so awesome to get Emers in these worlds and lose yourself.
I'm glad there's opportunities to enjoy these works for a newer audience, or for those of us who were too young and missed out when these books were first releasing. I'm also glad there's still artists that really follow in the footsteps of those masters too!
I've noticed on some of the painted pictures on their website it looks like they have layer lines? Have you experienced this with the casts or do you think they're just using printed masters for the site photos?
More than likely printed masters. I haven't had any such issues with any of the Tabletop Combat figures I own, and I feel I've got a fair amount over the years!
Useful video. Cheers.
Just came back from Japan and picked up three diff. Spinatias and an Alto White - they were about 1400 yen, which is $14 AUD (or $9.30 USD). Surprised you had trouble finding modelling kits over there - Yodabashi (and there's a few around) have a vaaaaaast range to choose from.
Closest Yodobashi to me is a minimum hour car ride, assuming I can get a ride, or at least 90+ minute train ride. They do have a decent selection usually. When I was there after the pandemic it was pretty dismal. The local Joshin was usually my go- to spot over here, as they had a Kids Land section with all the hobby stuff. They just reopened the day before I posted this after an extensive remodel, and their model section was reduced by a significant percentage. It was sad. I have seen a lot more 30MM figures though since I've been here in 2024. I should have a few new videos on 30MM figures when I get home. I'm really looking forward to the 30 Minute Fantasy line though!
Perfect for a tzeentch feudal guard
This is exactly the kind of content I love from your channel!
Glad somebody out there enjoys it besides me!
Came across this video today doing some pre-campaign planning for a play-by-post campaign using this book. Gonna be doing it over discord. If you’re interested in being a player, let me know! Starts in a week. 9 players currently, gonna be using a bastardized west marches style system we’re building over time.
You've certainly got my curiosity, but I won't have the book handy, and won't have access to it for another good month or two! Otherwise I'd probably be down for some!
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature hopefully CZcams allows me to tell you to check your app that contains the word gram.
His design on the XI gundam is my favorite i even got the High Grade kit from my local Hobby Lobby when it was 40% off.
That's a pretty good deal then! I'm jealous!
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature i saw it when i was shopping around during my Birthday shopping spree back in January 2024.
im waiting endlessly for japanese infantry set of that period because wg atlantic had them in plans but idk if they still want to make them.
I remember hearing something about that, and now it'll be floating back up again in my brain in the hopes of getting some!
On the box, what the flip is a "velite"!? 😂 The nominative singular is "veles"!
How good is the plastic?
Pretty sturdy. Things went together well. Some spots need a drop of glue or two due to the size and connection, but overall this was a pretty good effort. I feel the later Infinite Dimensions/ In Era kits stepped up the quality as well, if you're keeping an eye on any of those.
The gnomes are back at it
well i doz FIST neat guys thare may be ues in the macancess some how hay does trappers lodge have daleks me my big think of doing a 4ok army them just come back as say just a think will see more as post new
You've got me curious at to what sort of Daleks they would come up with. I'm sure there's some printable ones out there. I haven't looked for any, but now I may just have to as well!
Named after the God of Destruction, this kit is surprisingly an evil counterparts to Infinite Justice with heavy melee focus accessories.
Yaaay axes!
Spears are boring! My Vikings are all about hacking!
i will get this one... i have Arya's motor.. good this u compare the size of them
District 9 Mech.
Love the look of these guys but I am also a Napoleonic war gamer. I have decide to go with these guys for my Imperial Guard since you have such a variety of ways to put them together. My plan would to have the normal Imperial Guard squads have the Bearskin hats and take the ones with the Shako's hat to be Platoon and squad leaders. The Kepi's and Helmets to be used by Assault Imperial Guard squads. Another thing get 8 to 10 of these boxes (I do only believe in fielding large armies) and you get up to 240 Imperial Guardsmen for a faction of what that number would cost you from GW and quite frankly better miniatures as well.
looking to convert this boy into the big bad of my D&D campaign lmao. time to kill a titan
Is the plastic shit?
Surprisingly no! I've built some that were, but you won't see videos on them as they just weren't worth my time to film.
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature hows the plastic feel?
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature like is it bandai quality
It may not be Bandai level, but it's pretty solid. The kit is still in one piece despite me having it at work where people are constantly banging into the shelf it's on. I have had no issues with it. Only companies Id say that get near bandai would be guys like Motor Nuclear, Hemoxian, and possibly MS General off the top of my head. If you find this kit for a good price, I'd say it's a safe purchase!
