  • Charging 52v ebike batteries using two 12v solar panels. The solar generator topped off the second battery in this video in one and a half hours. The controller powered by the panels stayed on until 8:30 ish before powering off.

I am using this together with a 6S lipo to charge my e-board on the road.

This is great. I was starting to put something like this together and trying to figure out which controller would work best. Has this held up over the last year with your ebike batteries?

What a great idea for charging bike batteries when in the motorhome. I'm guessing you can also plug 12.7-14.4v into it from the RV battery/alternator(when driving) and use it like a standard cccv dc-dc boost converter as well as power straight from a solar panel?

I agree! Almost time for our two month summer camping trip to the mountains and wanted a way to charge the e-bike.

Are you charging via the BMS protected charge port, or via the unprotected discharge port?
I'd like to do this as well, but am worried about the BMS getting mad and causing problems.

Hey, this is exactly what i want to do!
Im going to get a 40w 18v solar panel. Can't wait to see how long it takes to fully charge my 52v 14ah battery

Please answer a question. Would the Newpowa 100 Watt Monocrystalline 100W 12V Solar Panel work with the MPT-7210A unit? I am trying to assemble a system to charge the battery of my e-bike (48v 17.5ah) while out touring. Thank you. What additional equipment would I need for charging iPhones, computers, etc. An inverter? Also, at 1:50 in the video you mentioned an "internal battery". What were you refering too, something inside the black box? Thank you.

Where did you get the adapter for the input on the first ebike battery? Looking for the cables involved from the MPPT controller to the ebike battery. That would really help! Thank you for the video

    Hi NYangryguy
I've ordered an ebike and I'm hoping to charge the battery with a solar panel together with the Minghe mpt7210A boost charge converter. The battery is rated at 500 watt hrs. If watts = volts x amps, and I choose to charge the battery with 2amps, then volts = 500 divided by 2=250 volts. Since the mpt7210A is a boost converter which has a limit of 72 volts, am I right in saying that it will keep on charging the ebike battery at the limit of 72 volts, but will just take a longer period of time for the solar panel to FULLY charge the lithium battery? I'm new to ebikes and step up converters so if this is a stupid question, just disregard it
    regards Rob T uk

Can this charge a 52v battery or do you have to set it to 60v and then manually unplug it as it gets closer to full voltage of a 52v battery? I noticed it skips from 48v to 60v without a 52v option in the specs.

It's super cheap 30 bucks. not true MPPT works in my applications. Do what rob suggests and get a gensun.

Can I use this MPPT to charge 48V-52V E-bike battery with a 12 V panel. Without using any DC-DC Boost converter.?

Together with a 600 watt mains Power supply i costs only half the Money of a regular 10a e-bike charger and can even Charge almost every kind of e-bike battery either from the Mains as well as from solar or the car alternator. I sonder why e-bike Sellers don't sell something equally versatile.

My opinion.. This charge controller is crap.. It was clear from the moment i plugged it in that it is not a true MPPT. I was using a 120w 8a SunPower solar panel (high end and great ratings) but This controller would shut off when it was in the full sun and it actually drained my 48v Samsung Ebike battery. Save your money and get a Genasun GVB-8.. (GVB-8 are used on the satellites and are very reliable, true MPPT charge boost controllers)

Perhaps you got a older unit before they changed the caps. Mine charges in minimal light 2 to 3 amps never discharges my batteries. I agree it is bottom of the barrel loud and inefficient though. Last year we went camping it kept 2 ebikes topped off and the battery box topped off for a whole week of camping.

    52 v and how many amp(battery)??

    • @NYangryguy
      @NYangryguy  Před 6 lety

Battery is 11.5ah it can discharge @ 30amps continuous the 2 ebike batteries. The 36v 16ah lifepo4 battery says 40 amps continuous 100amp bursts.
