Before the settlement of Snotingaham was established, the area was called Tiguo Cobauc, which is Brythonic for "City of Caves", due to the large cave system underneath the city.

Being from Nottingham, it does have its fair share of problems sadly but it is a decent city. It has been notorious for crime rates for decades and nothing has changed. The city population doesn't include areas of Beeston, West Bridgford, Carlton, Arnold, Stapleford, Kimberley, Gedling and Hucknall (all part of Greater Nottingham which shoot the population up to 800,000). I agree that you avoid areas like St.Anns, Sneinton, Radford, Hyson Green, Meadows, Broxtowe, Bulwell (although not too bad), Bestwood, Netherfield and Top Valley although Forest Fields isn't too bad but the city has many good areas too. In my own personal opinion, I do think it is better than Leicester, Coventry, Birmingham and many areas of London. Nottingham has beautiful parks and the embankment along the River Trent that deserves a mention. It is a student city with 2 main universities at different campuses. The demographics was in 2011 and has changed since then. For ethnic diversity shops (Asian, African, Caribbean, Turkish etc), Hyson Green (a busy and vibrant area of the city) and Radford are good places to go for this but don't stay there at night

Being from Nottingham born and raised in Aspley now living in Bulwell I do think some areas are dangerous but it's still not as bad as london as I have lived in Croydon before which is by far worse. Nottingham is a lovely place to live and raise a family there is good and bad everywhere.

Whoever wrote this needs to do some more research, no mention of Boots- the invention of Ibuprofen , Raleigh or John Player? What about 2x highly rated University’s or Prof Mansfield work with the development of MRI? What about Trent Bridge cricket ground or the worlds oldest professional football team Notts County or the achievements of Nottm Forest? How about the world’s first tarmac road? The traffic light, HP sauce or the first home video recorder were all from Nottingham, I could go on and on…

I was a student in Nottingham in the early 1970s and enjoyed the beautiful campus. I even managed to spend a day at Trent Bridge watching the test match. I still have friends in the area but hardly ever come back, now, as I live in Surrey.

Not really derby has most of the industrial work sector Nottingham has more of the finance sector it's a bit weird how it's split. For example rolls Royce hq is located in derby. That's not to say you can't find engineering work here but you'd be far more likely in derby

Greater Nottingham isn't taken into account, yet is included in this weak video. I wonder if talking about London if the City of London is taken into effect or London as a whole.
Beeston is part of Broxtowe, West Bridgford is part of Rushcliffe.
This is a poorly and childish researched video.

I've watched their other video about Nottingham and it includes a picture of Long Eaton which is in Derbyshire - it's probably included based on its NG10 postcode.
Mentioned at the end of this video; Hucknall and Mansfield are both in Nottinghamshire, not Nottingham and Ilkeston is another one that is in Derbyshire.

@@chrisbodum3621 True, but there is the Greater Nottingham Partnership (GNP) and Nottingham, Rushcliffe, Broxtowe, Gedling and Erewash all are part of that organisation.
London spans over a few counties.
The problem is that young people like me, have a belief of a Greater or Metropolitan area unlike old people who stick to those facts.

I do believe the city and its areas get more shit than what it really has. Alot of its 'bad places' are largely rooted in the past when it was much worse. The city has improved alot since then.

I refuse to hear anyone speak to me about Nottingham who doesn’t call me duck at least once in the conversation.
If one is to impress upon others that they have at least the most basic of basics, one must refer to others as DUCK.
    What a total muppet.
